Hello everyone
I'm trying to think of what is , or what makes scene/picture
spectacular, so this is a first attempt at this, that what came to my mind
first, some kind of futuristic city under attack by neighbor system, shown from the above
COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS MOST WELCOME!

on the left side , to my dreamy eyes, there seems to be a long , rainy beach,
i'd bring that closer for starters, i think it would look cool.
Then i'd be interested to know if this pic is still of the same story as the
first one, or a completely different one..
.

hey, thanks
Lunararia, I'm still thinking about that big explosion, but I'm also almost draged into that castle, I think I' ll end up doing both and never finish
Pawlac, what I meant what side of town are you, PB Architectura lata temu,
Squibbit, man I like your stuff, thanks , yea that is that little beach on the left, but always rains, I wish it'll snow

I'm trying to see the light
(that will never happen),
I think if more dramatic light that more spectacular image is, no mater what is the subject,
Korline
09-12-2005, 07:00 AM
thanks,
Abourabe thank you for your help,
I'm still not quite sure what I want, I mean explosions are spectacular so are crashes, battles, dog fights etc but also more calm scenes, like mountains (my favorite), seas, cliffs, waterfalls and you can go forever, what I think make things spectacular is the light, and how much depth it creats
so anyway I think I'll work on that more, and see what happens,
please let me know what you think
thanks :hmm:

cool, nice sketches. very dark and gothic kinda feel to it. The last post is cool, but i like the design of post #10 and the lighting of post#14 has some nice contrast going on. Keep at it. It'll be interesting to see what final composition you're going for.
cheers mate

i dig where you're going in #19 above. The figure on the left looks as though it should be a character (is it already?) glaring at the oncoming vehicle. Great movement in that one.

Hey man, I see you figured that signature thingie out :D

First, thank you all for the support, your comments even tiny ones
does give encouragement that I need, so I will work harder, and more, and more and some more
also there is so much of incredible good art here, extremely talented and nice people,
so it's an honor to be in the same event,
ok enough of thinking bs,
Arc80 I like a little darkness here and there, otherwise everything would be to sugarcoated
sh@ke I will start to tide them up, and I'm thinking about characters,
yunisirees trying to stay away from detail for now cause this always mess me up
ChrisThatGuy on this I'm thinking more like the explosion on the horizon,
so the light will be more brighter then the sunset
lokki no it's more like a hangar complex, it's still very muddy but I'm working on that
abourabe have not against fight scenes, the first concept is kin like that, still may go back to that
where is your thread man?????
xric7 thanx for stoping by, I'm working more on the brushes
agent bone I just think it's on a border, and I don't want to go there, thanx
Rudeone I got it, thanx, if it come up to the idea, not sure yet just sketching to see what I like
thanx again
I'm still sketching, thinking about some characters, I have another idea well maybe similar to the second one
I just think more sketches more ideas, better outcome, I don't know for sure but I want to explore this subject a bit
To everyone have fun and good luck.

Your blood reds and darkness - not to mention the utter spookiness of that character are creeping me out spectacularly... and thats a good thing :D I like your sketches very much, the geiger-ish elements to some of them are accomplished - but yeah like everyone else I want to see how you're going to go about tightening things up. anyway - Keep on creeping me out.

Yo Jarek! :scream: some nice sketch i see here! if you want to make a space attack, a city attack, try to add some explosion to contrast them...that would add more spectacular feeling..some one of your sketch are too dark and with add explosions that can reveal or accentuate the drama. anyway thank you man for your comment and keep going on this way!! good luck KorlineI'll come forward see your update.see yaaaaaaaaa:)

very nice, those pictures are very dark and brooding.
i definitely like whats going on in the second image more, but i really love the colors in the first pic. the image is dark and seems evil but the colors are primary, soft and desaturated so it seems like the evil is sleeping or waiting for something....
i dunno, ive just always loved those kinds of colors.
anyway very good!

great dark moody sketches!!! seems very promising...loved the futuristic city....for concept how about some kind of alien experiment gone bad or shall i say spectaculerly bad!!!maybe one of them used samples of other race 4 those horrible experiment which resulted in some serious catastrophy...and now, both of their world is about 2 collide...while the 2nd race is achieng 4 some serious payback.let me know how it sounds.sounds like movie trailer(he he he).and thanx 4 droping by.

Hey Korline, wow, you've been busy! There's a lot here that has potential. For my own opinion, I really like the first concept you did, and the subsequent background... perhaps with a bit more depth to it, being able to see a city that goes on for miles it could be something special. I also really liked the castle concept too, but I think that would depend on any characters you put into the scene. Like your colour choices this far though!

the1st_angel:thank you Angel ill try to keep it that way just a bit cleaner
Zepyhri:im thinking about characters in both of those and taht idea of the city going far is great
Delcio:thanks for your comment
im trying to clean up things a little bit but i dont have that much time to do it lately
the stories are kind of dark because i was thinking about appocolypse, wars and like when the worlds coolide and some of them i would like to put characters that represant fighting forces like mechanical dinosours or animals or even aliens
the castle was more Kafka thing
the city and the next one are typical stories i think, you know explosions flying objects stuff like that and im not sure how original that is but i think that visually it could be attractive the other ones, there is a story about a world in a different dimension its ran by mainly by the witches the guy accidently gets there he was on the run in some i think a european town in the 1900's i dont remember the whole story but im trying to find out any way the scenes were spectacular mechanical ghost and all kind of creapy stuff so thats what im trying to show
thank you for the support,

09-25-2005, 06:03 AM
thanks Sean J ,
i went and check out Giger more cloesly that I knew, and yes there is some similarities,
I didn't even know I think the most of it is in the color and the mood,
where I got this, is more from what I found on Craig Mullis ( sorry if I butcher the name) cause I'm in love with his way of drawing/painting, so I check all the links, and there is a little pdf doc call notes on Sargent, so I've read it (never heard of the guy before)
don't know for sure, he was portriat painter somewhre on the brake of
20th century, and his words where to over lap the paint, run the object to the background
and so on, rather than draw the actual line, so I kind of addopt that idea,
and if it comes to the darknes, well I just got the book for my birthday same week ago
from my son, called Icons of Art the 20th century,
and tell you the truth, there is not to many butterflys and sunshine days in that, and I think that's real, and I think that's how it is that's something you have to cope with, I still have my fun doing what I love, beeing out, seeing all kinds of beatyful things, sunsets, mountain snow, beatyful architecture, etc,
but I hate the cliche, and i don't want to end up wind up in that
I hope I explain the darkness a bit
hey good luck to you all, it's all about the art

How u doin man? Nice sketches. Really pushing your brain towards the edge to get your idea out eh? :)
My comments: the 5th sketch you posted on a sunday, the one with the sharp perpective looked cool. I like how the angle met with the design of that alien building thing on the right side. Your 14th sketch, posted on a monday, the one with the more friendly looking structures with yellow and rounded rooftops looks great too man.
My suggestion: I think you've got a pretty interesting scene if you combine a dark looking structure/landscape mixed with a more friendlier, birghter structure/landscape... I see you've already got some dark-looking characters in mind. You can have them witnessing the friendlier structures and through their point of view, you can show how spectacular it would be for them to witness something bright and colorful in contrast to what they're used to. Mix that up with spectacular lighting, and you've got yourself an awesome image dude.
Just some thoughts. Hope the suggestions werent redundant. Goodluck.

Hi there,
I think this is it, I will be still working on the city with the explosion
but I like this idea the most,
so let say there is a parallel universe or maybe more than just one,
and in the perfect world everything is nice and neat, but we all know
nothing is perfect, and there is a place where by a small margin
those universes are overlapping and collide, it's chaos, time as we know it
doesn't exist, future and past happens simultaneously, civilizations are crashing
extremely advance meets the ancient, some know how to deal with that
some getting evaporated by extreme energy, it's a mess, it' a weird place
it's dangerous and scary, but it's also has it's beauty of extreme powers...
but for real now, do we know where this universe ends, and what is
behind it, and if there is something there what is further
I took some elements from previous sketches, I'll be adding some
architecture to this, but I think I'll try to stick to this layout
let me know what you guys think
thanks

Good to see you are settling on one of the numerous concepts you pounded out. I really like the potential of this one and the story is pretty cool. I just love the darkness and mood to the piece, don't lose those elements. Can't wait to see this develop more.

10-01-2005, 05:33 PM
Wazzup Korline... Man, your concept's really grown since last I checked. The idea's pretty chaotic, huge. Your layout looks cool man. It looks like you're keeping it Matte Painting like, which is very good since you're literally gonna be showing different worlds and perhaps even different universes here. Gonna be a heck of variety in the scene, colour wise, architectural wise, perhaps even creature wise, vegetation wise... The scope's just huge. Keep it up
Korline
10-01-2005, 11:40 PM
agent bone: I will keep the darkness for this one, and most likely, I'll stick to that
the only thing that's anoying me is how to keep this together, we'll be trying, and thanks :banghead:
ahbeejieh: well thank you, I think the concept is the mostt importent thing here, not the detail, and the super realistic look of the characters, yes I want kind of like the screen shot, cause that's what I think is the whole thing about, might be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking when I'm thinking spectacular, it's the whole thing, action, storyline, fx, lightning, drama, etc that's what make things spectacular, aahhhh just my dumb ass opinion
thanks I'll work on the detail soon
I like your concept, very original. Its scary :hmm: Remind me that scifi horror film(dont remember name),there ship came from black hole and bring some awful thing from other dimension(hell).

 Great work Korline....
I'm envious of those who can create such fluid images without getting bogged down with line drawings (having come from a storyboard background, I tend to start with line drawings then slowly work into a painting - which is taking time to get away from).
I thought that your work definitely has a giger / Francis bacon style quality - very dark, fluid forms and painterly style - but with your own twist.
Love the sketches and I like the composition you've chosen. Great concept also. It will be interesting to see how the colour develops as these work very well in black and white with hints of red and some yellow.
Keep the great work coming... :applause:

WHoa, did you just made a 180 degree change in colour pallete? Well, it doesn't have that chaotic feeling to it, but it has that very cold, ominous feeling to it, which i really like too.
Just a personal thought, for someone who has a kick arse style, you seem to choose a very simple composition. Have you ever thought of making your composition a bit more complex, especially with the perspective.
Man, if i can do your style, i would go just a bit crazy with the composition. Just the process of how you think of these images...man, take advantage of that complexity. You have this great balance between complex imagery, but very readable.

Hey, Korline. Very cool image. Very alien and strange. Your work has a H.R. Giger feel, but is definitely unique. I think your color palette works very well with the image. Looking forward to more.

nice update.great drawing.but seem to me the same yellows are everwhere so it's hard to make the depth.only my opinion.:) very nice work anyway.

Cleanin' up nicely now. Love the saturation. It kinda makes me feel sick or something... In an "alieny" kind of way. I can almost smell the environment of the pic with that color mood. Keep em coming man.

Nice progress. I love the addition of the meaty reds. This piece really is sickening, in a good way! I agree with Ahbeejieh about how you can almost smell the place. It's great to achieve such a sensory experience from an image. Keep it up. :buttrock:

hello you all :scream:
zpapageo: yeah for sure there is some influance, but that as far as it goes, I'm glad you
like the reds, I'm planing to add some more, I want for anyone who is looking to
feel like they in it, don't know if I can accomplish that but I'll keep trying
xric7: I'm eliminating some of the yellows, cause was a bit to much, but I was going for
this kind of absurd but natural look, so those colors were working for me, but it does
create problem with the depth so I'm changing overall color a bit, thanx for pointing
this out
MichaelChang: thanx dude, not sure if I want make space larger, but for sure I want more
depth, so I'll be trying to open it up a little more
SquishMe: thanx, still working on it, still got a ton to do
Angel: I have way more deateiling to do, thanx man, by the way I checked out your site
there is some cool stuff in there, be back to check some more
Voytek: thanx for stopping by, need to steal some of your smoke,
JosePardo: man I'm hurring, but the detail is so time consuming, stil got few days
thanx for support, I'll make it
Arc80: hey man, those wiring are scaring me, I'm doing them right now, hopefuly I'll have
something tomorrow, still got to work on the eye, than explosion, smoke and overall
light, man the list is long, I love what you did with your pic
ahbeejieh: the eye was there for a while, but I didn't really touch it till just now, and now
started to become a pain, cause eats up time like there is no tomorrow, but now
I'm commited to that composition, great that you like it, I'll do my best to make
it better, thanx bro
cheers to all you crazy people out there

Hello everyone
This is it I guess, well, the story behind...
At the ends of universe, or more where another world starts, where it all meets
the existing and parallel universe, there is a place where by a small margin
those universes are overlapping and collide, it's chaos, time as we know it
doesn't exist, future and past happens simultaneously, civilizations are crashing
extremely advance meets the ancient, some know how to deal with that
some getting evaporated by extreme energy, it's a mess, it' a weird place
it's dangerous and scary, but it's also has it's beauty of extreme powers...
Is this possible, if this exist I don't know that, but no one really knows what is further
behind what we can see and what we know.
cheers everyone and good luck
Jarek

Congrats bro!!! You finished and now you can relax and go to sleep, hehehe. I like the story, it feels a lot like a scientific theory. THe piece does feel very chaotic and right smack on the target. THis is definately one of the coolest dark piece i've seen here and the detailings is just wicked (again, all those wirings...)   :bounce:
Awesome job bro and keep in touch. See you around
