Hey all,

Just ran into a problem with importing a character from Max 4 into Max 5. The problem is that I have a character with an eye rigg similar to Comets suggested ones. Where there is a lattice deforming the shape of the eyes and also the eye lids. The problem is its a cartoonish character and it needs to have the eyes completely deformed to fit into the head shape.

All worked fine in th last project. Now there is a second contract that has needed the characters resurected.

When bringing the characters into max 5 they coming in fine but corrupts when resaving the files. Ive narrowed it down to the eyes lattices and Im just rel;uctant to redo them as they are fine. I was hoping someone has come across this before or found a solution.? Else I have to redo it....which is only an hours worth of work...Im just hoping.

Normally Id ask this at the discreet forum but It seams to be down for the last few days....anyone know anything about this.?

Anyway cheers for any help.

You could try copying the modifiers onto new base geometry, on the off chance it is just the geometry which is corrupt somehow... sounds like a wierd one...

The discreet webforum has been up for me - have you re-registered since they wiped the user database?

How was that game developers conference up here? Its a shame I missed you guys :hmm:

GDC was great. Odd going all the way up there to see Mark talk when he operates a few kilometres from here :)
Good fun though, very enlighting too.
I dont think well get to go to the next one, but we may make it up again for the final one in 3 weeks.

Also had a great chat to Mario and John at Sidhe interactive.

RE: discreet, yea I re-registered and it was working fine for a while...but everytime I go there I get this:

I didnt do those fire commercials - they're quite cool though huh? The latest commercial I put out was one for the Chamber Music Society - I did a whole lot of music notes coming off the musicians instruments... I've been working on some cool little short films though! :) I'm currently waiting on my new workstation to arrive - a p4 2.7  inside this case:

Sweet, that worked.

I tryed http://support.discreet.com which is what I usually use. NO joy. And even all the links from the discreet site send you there.

Nevermind, works now :)

The reason I thought you did that add was last time we talked you said you were making a mock game for something....that add had a mock firefighting game :)

Thats a very tidy system ya know ;)
Ive been chatting with DVT and we about to order a dual AMD system plus a seat of C2* as the price has dropped :) Look foward to that arriving in the new year.

Yeah, I'm looking into getting a seat of C2 as well. Its so cheap at the moment! - DVT's service so far hasn't been the most fantastic in the world though. We're getting a Cinewave card through them so we can do uncompressed capture & playback to & from the BetacamSP decks. That comes with Commotion Pro, so I may give that a bit of a whirl for a couple of months & see if the rumoured new NZ distributor for discreet products starts up. Urg. It means I'll have to use the G4 though ;) :p

That fighting game sequence is for a feature film - it seems to be on permanent hold though - they've run out of dollars & they havent filmed any of the live action fighting scenes (although I see the producer has just got a new titanuim looking G4 laptop with a swanky little DV camera - funny how these things work)
