hi
this is a problem i can't solve in XSI..
in max i can select polygons on a box and extrude them with a perfect offset on the resulting shape, while in XSI i can't..
i've used both the extrude along axis with height 0 and adjusting the scale in x,z and the duplicate method with scaling the polygons..
in any case in xsi i have to further tweak the "offset" to be the desired result in the duplicate way , or guess the right value i have to dial in the scale option if i go with the extrude way, which is annoying especially in architectural modeling..
is there a way to have the same result as in max?
on the following image on the right is the xsi way compared with max to see what i mean..

thanks in advance

Hello george.... Long time no see... basically i think that it can't be done from what i have seen... But I think that the fastest way to do this is by beveling the edges on the front of the cube in the scale you want them.... It works similar to chamfer in max but it is better for this purpose than any other extrusion method i think... I hope this helps....

you can always type in the exact value in the x,y,z to get what you want. or, you can use snap tool to snap it onto the grid.
