View Full Version : Slammer!
Cozmo 09-08-2005, 10:20 PM It's not ready yet, but I've been working on it for so much time that I finally desided to show it. I can't wait to read your crtitiques and comments. The guy's name is Slammer. Do you think the composition and the anatomy are decent enough?

I like the power of the character. He seems to be right out of Valhalla. I'm a little unsure what his motive for slamming is. There doesn't seem to be anything for him to slam. My eyes are a little confused about the space around him. There seems to be a cape? and some flying blades on chains? but it's unclear what is going on.
My only comment on anatomy (which I still struggle with) is that the arm holding the hammer seems a little small and undefined while his feet seem rather large.
Keep at it. I hope to see your progress.

there you go, I made some changes. I reworked the arm and added more contrast to the image. Here you can see what he is slamming, at least I hope you can :)
thanks for the comments, it really helped I think...

It's not bad, it's just not linked. Anyway, I'm not fond of the cape. It's cliche', it's way too long for the character and it makes him far too similar to another hammer wielding godling. For anatomy, looks good but I'd the arms and hands more attention as they look too small for the body and you'll want to get them right as they will be a central part of the picture. Big hands = power and virility. His right foot looks off - foot and knee always point in the same direction.
Lastly, I don't think the horizontal orientation helps the picture. I can't tell if those cones are trees jutting up or stalagmites. I'd rather see you crop it vertically, upsize the image and show some sky to break up all that earth. BTW I really like the way you did the fissure opening in the earth.
