So I searched and searched for an idea no one had thought of yet...but everything was taken...so I thought why not take everything! So the concept is a giant monster made of everything in the world. In the concept form images are more symbolic than litteral. For instance a tv head will actually be a head made of 100's of tv's and similar appliances. At the same time its a parody of all those monster movies where radioactivity causes something to mutate. I thought "what if some toxic waste spilled on....EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD at the same time? This is my answer. I've got a lot of work ahead of me.

cool idea man.....

I REALLY THINK IT'S AN AMAZING IDEA

You should do a low shot of him to show how daunting he is....wow.....a monster made of everything.....sounds like the shape of the earth right now.

Don't give up.......:buttrock:

I wanted to do a low shot of him, but I realized that the head and upper most parts of the body would lose a lot of detail because of the perspective. Considering how mammoth this image is going to be and how tiny the parts that make it up, making parts any smaller would ruin the detail and some of the fun. We'll see however. Thanks for the comments.

So I decided to scrap the "Everything" project after drawing 1500 individual images and putting them together. That will take more work than I have time for. So I came back to an old concept I had. I have already painted a version of this idea and you might have seen it floating around the net on deviant art or something, but this is a totally new take on it. More dynamic angle and pose with a more menacing face.

So this is as close to line art as im going to get. Basically thats what this is anayway...a bunch of colored lines making a rough outline of the image. The Rabbit and background (not visible) will be finished and added at the end. The mouth and eyes will also see significant changes. Thats it for now.

Heres an update on the coloring and refining. It's finally starting to take shape and direction, but ive got a lot of work ahead. So many more shades, and I havent even touched a blender yet....AND still no rabbit or background. The image doesnt really make sense without a terrified little rabbit so he'll be making his entrance soon.

I started to add smaller details to the carrot monster, kinda feel like a sculpter right now. Made the legs look more organic, like roots...even though carrots dont exactly have roots. Still havent touched the green parts of the plant or the eyes, but soon. The carrot alone wont make this image anything close to spectacular, but if I can pull off the entire composition I have in my head, it just may turn out right. Time to sleep.

I woke up refreshed today, and got started on my painting. Really went to work on the green leafy parts adding swirls all around. I think swirls are great, and i've been adding them to a lot of recent art. Makes the image flow if used properly. I also threw in some placeholder eyes, and added more shades to just about every part. Thats it for now. Tell me what you think.

Still chuggin' along. Finished most of the details on the carrot monster, added real eyes, which may still change by the end, but I like how crazy they make him look. Just starting fleshing out the background, still have the rabbit and some other foreground elements to add. Then after that its belnding and lighting time. Im lucky I have all this free time on my hands right now, or I wouldnt be moving so fast.

No one seems to be commenting... But im still plugging away. I worked on the background quite a bit, added a lot of little details. Added the Rabbits finally! One of the last updates before final image I think. Still have to work on textures, blending and lighting. So hopefully i'll get some feedback soon. This preview is also bigger than usual to show off more of the small details.

Blended Colors, started playing with the lighting, added some fine details and textures. Hoping to get some feedback because the next submission will be the final image.

This piece really came together better than I expected. Its bold, bright, and funny...at least to me. For the final image I added some "grey light" as I call it, and refined the primary lightsource's highlights. I also removed the background vegetation as it just cluttered the image, and I added more bright swirls of vegetation coming from the carrot's head. The entire image is painted to swirl to the center and take the eye on a circular path, I think I succeeded. What do you guys think?

Im done. It only took 5 days, but many hours. I've had this idea of the prey becoming the predator for a long time and we've all seen it at least once in the movies, but I wanted mine to be more ironic and funny. I tried my hand at this idea once before but it just didnt have all the characteristics required by this competition. I have seen many beautiful images submitted to this competition but while beautiful can sometimes be spectacular, spectacular is always beautiful. To me, spectacular means so much more than beautiful, in fact it means a little of everything presented in a big way. It has to be bold, inviting, funny, edgy, twisted, fantastic but almost familiar- surreal even- and yes, beautiful. I didnt get all of these qualities down perfectly, but what I lacked in execution I hope I more than made up for with concept and creativity. I hope when people see this they enjoy it, whether or not its close to the best or has any chance of winning. I just wanted to make a bold and fun image and I think I accomplished that. Thanks to everyone else in the competition for the inspiration to make great art. Good luck.
