Apple have now released the full QuickTime7 release for Windows. QT7 can be downloaded as a standalone installer, or as part of a 33MB bundle with iTunes5.

As usual, there is a link to the standalone Quicktime installer on that page:

Cool, I just installed Pro. If only the windows version had firewire DV capture like the Mac version does.

:hmm:

are the bugs actually fixed since the beta version?

I looked and didn't see this info on the apple page.

I bought QT6 pro. If I try to install QT7, will I still be able to have QT6 pro on my computer? Or will QT7 install over it?

Thanks,
Mechis

No, you can't have both installed at the same time unfortunately.

@Joxvex
Thanks. That really stinks though...

I found the recent QT7 beta prevented Digital Fusion 4 from running due to DF thinking a QT file was missing, yet it wasn't(obviously a version compatibility issue). I had to end up reinstalling QT6. I have no idea if the release version is the same way. Just a "heads-up". :-)

CraigT, I also went back to 6 after finding out DF wouldn't run with the 7 preview release. I just tried out the 7 final release, and unfortunately it still crashes. Hopefully there's a fix soon, but meanwhile, back to 6!

I installed the iTunes bundle yesterday, and suddenly quicktime doesn't play sound any more... I'm gonna try the standalone now... Hopefully that remedies it....

Excellent; they've taken care of the HD performance issues in the Preview version. Now it can run HD (480p and 720p) on a decent PC (instead of a dual-Xeon monster).

I have pretty serious problems with codes in after FX, some wav files coded dont play properly, they usually stop playing after 90 %. So the last 10 % of the wav files is complete silence.

Other problem: Firefox crashes if I want to take a look at apple presentation movies for the new iPod.

I am curious if they fixed that weird bug when you run QT player in windows and you receive "can't find disc" pop-up errors. This has been a chronic thing with the player (I know some others have experienced it), and to fix it you have to constantly clear the cache from "recently played files" menu.

haha, lets hope.
Annoyances liek those is why I went the route of "quicktime alternative" and I hope they update that to support QT7 too so that I never have to go back.
