I dont deny any influences on this one, so i'm sure you can pick it apart pretty easy...(Feng,Brom,Scott Cambell,etc..)
just trying a new direction in design and character concept...
comments welcome....

Nice start. I really like all the detail you put into it. It defitenly is influenced by Feng. Now take those influences and use them to create something totally new and exciting. That's how I push my art forward... I see stuff that I really like and then I try and figure out what parts of it makes me like it... I then try and put those influences with a different spin into my pieces.
You should also really study anatomy(something I have to do a lot more of)... it'll help with your art a lot. Her head is a bit too big for the size of her body.
Now take this and rework it(use a light table if you have one)... fix the problems and really think about the concept. What does she fight, how does she fight and so forth. That way you'll end up putting your own spin on it.

hey guys thanks for the replies

Sketch23

hey man I appreciate your input, I know the anatomy is a little screwed up, I tend to go for a somewhat stylized approach, but mainly I was just trying to see if I could do something in this vein.
Believe me I've had many years of figure drawing classes and sketchbooks to show.

I dont think I would light box this one, its just a sketch and knowing my work habits, I'm much more apt to just redraw from scratch if its something I'm concerned about changing.
thanks for the feedback,
I appreciate it ..

Ive always liked your work, it is pretty well done, even your sketches. I would agree about the proportions problem, of which there are a few. The head was mentioned, but I also think the thumb on her left hand is too short.
The next level of detail comes with some patience, however. The
thing that I noticed the most is the lack of any forms "wrapping " around forms. And the lack of any thickness on the objects as well. I sent a piece of your pic back to you, with a quickie p-shop overdraw of what I mean. The extra line I added gives your belt strap the thickness. But you have lots of armor, that makes it a challenge to do this everywhere it needs it.

great work. How about adding some detail to the blades attached to her forearms. Maybe they could have a more interesting complex shape. At the moment they look like simple straight peices of metal and dont look as dangerous as they could.

thanks guys ..i always appreciate the feedback...but I've learned something...the problem with scanning youre drawings is that they display a lot bigger on screen then I actually drew them...hahahaha..... makes it hard to hide any mistakes....

anyway I'm off to the sketch pad to draw another one....I'll post it asap...
