I'm working on a spaceship in a field composite. I'm trying to add a bunch of different details to it, and I just finished the first little thing to add to it. The spaceship is from an earlier project I did. I'm probably going to add a few more spaceships crossing in the background. Maybe a few animated birds as well.

600kbish, 6ish seconds. (http://hinchu.com/temp/Field%20Composite1a.wmv)

Any crits or comments? This is my first time really doing this.

Very nice so far. A few extra additions could really help sell it though. For take off, you would really want some heat-haze and dust kick up from the engines starting. There is a good tutorial for heat haze over at www.dvgarage.com

Basically, you render out red and green particles where you want the exhause to go, then go into your compositing package, blur them and then use that particle layer to displace the background, with the red/green affecting the x/y axis respectively. Then use the blurred particle layer to do a composite blur on the background. Should look very nice.

Also, maybe some engine flare kicking in as it moves away.

Good luck.

looks Good man. I likes it. I think heat ripples would really add to the shot like Double Supercool said.

That's a great tutorial.
