View Full Version : Wings-0.98 Released
KayosIII 11-06-2002, 11:31 AM New release sees UV mapping become an integrated part of the program... as well as quite a few small improvements and bug fixes....
find out more at http://www.wings3d.com
I am also going to blow my own trumpet a little and include a link to my wings-0.98 stuff including exporters for PovRay-3.5 and Renderman Compliant renderers as well as a VRML exporter that exports UV Coordinates. (great for getting models from wings into blender 2.25).
These can be found at http://www.midcoast.com.au/~rgcoy/hobbies/wings.html
Also my wings binaries for linux can be found at http://www.waldosworld.org/linux
Go try them and hassle me because they don't work on your computer :p

Wings is looking better and better. :)
KayosIII- Can you tell me if Wings can have a sub-d cage around the sud-d mesh? So you can pull a point/vertex on the cage and see it move the sub-d surface.......?
I just saw a link to "Clay" Modeler yesterday and that looks really cool!

As of now I think it's a closed beta, but everything on the site does look cool!

The guys at rocket3d have developed Clay, a new 3d app said to be more 3d artist friendly. I don't know about the claims. Anyway these guys have some "Clay" made models and shots of the stuff rendered in Blender. The guy who developed Clay is a Blender master and there are rumors of some Blender integration?

"All I'm asking for is "zbrush " type mesh modeling deformation python script modeling tools and more pose based character animation tools in the new free Blender! That's all ?And....I'm asking for..... uh ....and maybe a...."
"ah, go on and script it yourself ya dumb slacker"- caring and wise motivation from the Blender python scripters.

Wings does not do what you are asking.
You still cannot edit in smoothed mode. but a smooth preview is only a SHIFT + TAB away... which is very workable.
Wings more than compensates for this with its modelling functionality

The only problem I had with wings is the lack of pivots or visual costraints.
Yes wings is great but it does miss gizmos. The workflow would be better.

thirdeye_01 wings might have "pivots" it has something called vector movements, if that's what you mean, but if its something else, nope ;) Also, Mirai doesnt have a Gizmo and its a (was) mainstream app. So its just getting used to the workflow I guess. :D
