Well this is the first CGtalk contest Iv ever attempted to enter :D
Ill be working on this in my spare time around job seeking and demo reel creating :p
Anyway heres the first concept peace i came up with in the last hour or so.
While working on this I felt as im sure you lot would agree the forground is crap... Too much of it.
And sorry its a crap concept drawing :p Im not strong with the freehand 2d side.
When i start building the scene im going to rearange the foreground. it would be closer to the balconys edge. And the sideing doors will be closer to the side of the cameras view.
There will be a photograph if ether a couple or small family crying and holding each other with the events going off in the background.
The scene. On the transport ship Donevon 7 as it was coming into low orbit, it was struck by a fuel tanker. The impact pushed the ship into the atmosphear where it was distroyed. Thousands of lives where lost in the tradgady.
The couple or small family are standing by one of the escape pod access points. But all the pods are gone and now they must face there deaths.
History will remember this as the second titainic :p
I will be using photographs of people to populate the scene with charactors. If any mods think this is against the rules please let me know as soon as...
Well wish me luck :)
Heres the original concept scetch

Iv started some modeling. This is basicly going to be the tanker that hits the passenger ship. I want to keep most of the model detail fairly low and use textures on it. Once i got the base textures done ill start adding damage to the ship from impact.

Talk about working fast. Awesome start on the modeling. You can really tell it's a tanker of sorts...can't wait for more updates.

Well another bit of modeling today. Ill be adding alot of detail to the parts in the middle. Because of the camera angle i decided not to model the engines on the back and the underside of the ship

AGHHHHH I hate modeling block. I cant fill the hull of the passenger ship up :/
Need to take a few days away from the computer. Somthing will come up.

Well as I said Im getting a bit of modelers block. So i desided to merge the tanker into the scene and just roughly posision it. To help give me an idea on the scene. And also to draw over it.
I thought i would just show you the render im going to draw over.

Basicly a test with the forground added into the scene.

Well I decided to start texturing the tanker.
I wanted to keep it fairly basic. And add model and texture details when i crash it into the transport ship.
