My grandfather flew in WWII, and I never met him. I know little about him, other than the fact that he flew three tours in an Avro Lancaster...

I haven't yet decided if this is a little too cliché. I'd think that the angle might have to be a bit more extreme in order to convey any kind of emotion, the "oh ****, we're screwed now" of the bomber crew; the impression of speed, height, and hopelessness. I'd have some visible crew, but likely they would be too small to give any real sense of danger.

I may change my mind completely, but it doesn't hurt to post, anyway. :) These models are obviously very crude. Comments welcome.

Now that's gonna be a spectacular scene! I hope you don't change your mind
and finish it, perhaps with some other angle for the Spitfire, (Is that a SF?),
otherwise the composition looks good!
I flew with "Blanik L13" when I was younger and I got the licence too, boy I'm glad
I didn't experience this kind of scenery, and you must be very proud of your
grandfather!
Good luck with the challenge and please put some parachutes in those planes,
so pepole can bail out before it's too late!

Thanks, I appreciate the comments. It's actually an ME109. There were several instances (though I'm not sure if it happened to lancasters) where a german plane was successfully shot down and its pilot would use his plane to cut into an allied bomber. In "Memphis Belle" they showed this when a german plane took off the tail of one of their flotilla.

I still haven't totally decided on this. Again, it is a bit cliché... It's also not particularly challenging on a lot of levels (at least for me), and in the end I don't want to spend a whole lot of time on an image that just isn't on par with the competition. I'll fart around with some other ideas, and see where it takes me.

I like your theme, but if you are looking for something a little different, how about jsut changing the POV....maybe have the plane spiralling downwards with smoke pluming upwards, and place the camera high above looking down - so it almost looks like the plane is racing through a tunnel

hope you understand what i mean, i havent explained it too well

be interested to see what you decide to do
