Latest Update: Final Image: Band of Brothers
09-13-2005, 02:30 PM
First i wish all of yours best of luck and
creativity. Let's play and lot of fun for all.
My concept is not really original: Two knights in battle. A Templar knight(guardian of the holy graal) has died against a dark knight;he stole the Graal from the templar and the magic is exploding through him.
Am sure i can get something ...mhhh.. spectacular, yes that's it :D
A layout and/or drawing will be ready soon. Nevertheless, i put a ref picture picked from a famous comicbook "Les chroniques de la lune noire".
Tnx for your attention and CU soon .
09-13-2005, 03:19 PM
good idea man :)
waiting your first sketch, are you doing a similar composition or something different ? An epic fight on a moutain side will be a spectacular picture
good luck to you !
09-13-2005, 03:23 PM
The composition will be vertical and not exactly like the reference picture:D
You ll have a better look with the sketch soon:scream:
09-14-2005, 01:22 PM
i'm waiting for your sketch, Realy nice idea!
Good luck with the comp. c ya
09-15-2005, 09:35 AM
Why not... and the originality can give by yiur method of realization... your design, your environment, your mood...
Personaly, I like a lot story of templar knights... and for why not with a recreation of the peyrepertuse castle in the background ? that will be fantastic, no ?
In any case... good courage buddy
It's time to concept sketch now... and best wishes for continuation.
09-15-2005, 10:36 AM
tnx for comment :)
A very good idea for the castle in background...
I should make my final sketch that will be more clear, cause am in the fog i admit:scream:
Soon i promise, soon...
09-15-2005, 11:22 AM
that will be more clear, cause am in the fog i admit
I understand well. I just see your avatar, and black glasses  are not so practicle for a clear vision :banghead: hahahaha sorry...
I'm waiting for more soon...
09-15-2005, 11:35 AM
Damn it! Thats it!!!
I can see clearly now! tnx a lot...
so the 3dsketch will be post tonight with the correct FOV i think.
I have to work harder on it .
PS: I am selling a pair of sunglasses, a little dirty but in a good state. :D
CU soon (with a sketch, yeah yeah)
09-16-2005, 09:35 AM
A first sketch, not really the impression i wanted to point out. I need more work to
choose the characters posing and camera position.
If i can have some crits on this work i ll be happy;)
Tnx fot attention mates:)
09-16-2005, 02:42 PM
i think you have to work your point of view, we are too far from the scene, i think we have to be more in the action...here we are a just a spectator far from the scene... i think your field of view is too high, the background character is too deformed. Go on funky, you're in the right way !
09-16-2005, 04:15 PM
I like the angle. great idea & layout so far.
09-19-2005, 02:48 PM
A new concept, because the other is awful and absolutely flat.
"A knight in a place (garden/forest or chapelle). An other templar in his arms. Pierced with arrows and traces of sword shots).Dead. The first knight is crying."
I think it would be better for something "spectacular", if i can retrieve some intense emotion.
Concept sketch in few hours.
C&C welcome :D
09-19-2005, 09:57 PM
here is the new sketch, which is better now. Background is not the good one ,it is just for "fun".
Now it is on the way. Modelling is progressing, some news very soon.
09-20-2005, 08:05 AM
Better concept Funkyboos :)
I think that you should not cut his knee at the bottom of the picture...but it's just a detail ! Keep going man ! Waiting for your next picture !!
(perhaps a funky knight hidden in the background ? :) )
09-20-2005, 03:07 PM
so nice and great concept mate .let`go to have a happy spectacular
09-20-2005, 03:33 PM
Tnx a lot dude!!:D
More and more work to do but i believe in it:banghead:
09-20-2005, 04:15 PM
I like the new Concept, could be spectacularly sad ;)
I would make the Frame of the Picture a bit bigger there is too much Sky, and takes away the focus on the knights. And the Textures but u know i guess.
Great Concept, looking forward seein more.
09-21-2005, 12:50 AM
Starting modeling a knight.
09-21-2005, 12:51 AM
09-21-2005, 08:51 AM
good beginning Funky :) keep going !
i'm waiting to see the armor !
09-21-2005, 09:41 AM
Monks: The armor will be done soon:scream:
And don't deseperate, maybe a funky knight will appear...who know?
09-21-2005, 11:24 AM
Good starting Carl... I just find he seem to much to super hero...with this kind of muscular body... but maybe he was one :scream: Certainly it's not a problem with the armor...
...good courage for your funky knight
09-22-2005, 11:24 AM
Yeah! Funky knight for a funkyboss ,really funny!
More seriously this idea could make your concept more spectacular (color, lights...)
You also can put your classic templar characters on a vertiginous staircase or something like, for a spectacular view...
09-28-2005, 11:13 AM
cool concept!, I like the idea and the composition.
Will start to crit once you begin modeling properly.
The head is too early to crit so far
09-29-2005, 02:40 PM
Tnx all for your advices!
A "clean" mesh will be ready soon, and more detailled and an armor support ready for.
I should hurry a little i know:blush: (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)
And i hope having time to make a funky surprise but in a little while, not now:D
10-04-2005, 09:52 AM

A little WIP, modelling is not finished yet for accessories, and texturing is starting... I have to make it faster now... wehaaaa CU soon, i get back to work!
11-14-2005, 06:14 PM
He looks great now - particularly that unshaven look, perfectly rugged type of guy... reminds me a bit of Peter Stormare for some reason :curious:
Anyways, the clock is ticking, so don't get too deep into minor details now, but start on the bigger picture, get into the fifth gear and step on it!
11-14-2005, 06:36 PM
yeha ! Nice texture, perhaps can you make the clothes more dirty....cool textures for the head ! keep going !

Posing is near to be finished.
Some details to add to knights, and then have to finished the background.
Facial expression of alive knight is on the way too.
time and space
12-01-2005, 03:45 AM
hope you finish before the challenge ends.
time and space
12-01-2005, 03:47 AM
the textures/materials you used where can I find similar to that?
12-01-2005, 09:43 AM
Tnx, i hope too:scream:
In what kind of material are you interessed? Most of them are handmade, apart the ground(ugly:) ) and armor pieces which are a mix with homemade pict and darktree.
I can redirect you to Lemog's site (http://lemog.free.fr/),who has a big references pictures, and there is another one but I can't remember the name... if i found i ll tell ya:beer:.And try to found some free sites, but it is hard to found because most of textures sites are not free!!!Good luck
12-01-2005, 09:45 AM
Carl... I'm popping here very late, but wow what a great work here... the idea and ispiration is really cool and your last up date is really good... wait for the environment... don't stop :wip:
12-01-2005, 01:10 PM
hi carlo !
very good work ! i prefer this posing !
i know that you have problem for the choice of the background, i have made a little picture to give you an idea, i change the angle to be more clother from the scene, i think it's more spectactular, more in the action, hope you like it and hope it will help you !
12-01-2005, 02:02 PM
Thank you so much Bro'!! (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)
It is true that i m getting questions about the background.
That will help me for sure, tnx again you re a man dude!!:buttrock:
Next WIP this night:banghead: (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)
12-02-2005, 09:59 AM
keep it up ! Carl it's nearly finished.
12-03-2005, 08:44 PM
Some quick test of ambiance. But I have big problems to render... Hope to fix it quickly. Don't know if i'll be ready:)
12-04-2005, 12:16 AM
Can t make an atmosphere/ambiance choice... Volumetric light will be done in compositing, it will be better i think.
Some details to put there and there, calibrate colors and equilibrate shadows.
Get back to work!
Tnx for crits;)
12-04-2005, 12:44 AM
I need your advices about these two point of view. I can't make a choice... tnx in advance.
12-04-2005, 01:29 PM
moi je préfère celui de droite plus impressionnant plus dramatique je changerais juste un peu l'orientation de l'épée et l'arbre un peu plus a droite dans l'image pour qu'il n'y est que quelques branches derriére la tête du personnage vivant..
trans: i prefer the right one..more dramatic
12-04-2005, 03:04 PM
right one for me also, better mood
very nice picture
12-04-2005, 07:46 PM
Tnx for responses friends.
I have made a choice, I'll take the left one. The POv of the right one is not in accordance to my goal even if we are closer the action and more strong.
I have to work the expression of the knight and it was impossible with the right pic.
So tnx anyway but after the deadline i ll do a render with this POV just to see if.....work:wip:
12-05-2005, 01:06 AM
last pass of render, defaults will be removed on compositing.
12-05-2005, 01:08 PM
I am starting compositing.Nearly the end...wehaaa
12-05-2005, 04:46 PM
Good Luck again and thanks for post !!
Great work Carl!!!
12-05-2005, 08:29 PM
Close up of the crying knight.
12-06-2005, 01:38 AM
Sometimes, we loose friends, brothers.
During battles, Knights lose their brothers.Even if they were strong and merciless, when one of them died, they were...crying. Like anybody loosing a friend...anybody...
They were band of Brothers for Eternity.
Hope you will feel it , seeing his tears.
12-06-2005, 09:26 AM
hey funkyboss, that image looks great, and the tears you made are awesome. Congrats on such a great work man
