Hi all,

Thanks for your drop ins! Good feeling to recognize this missing part of my last months. Again here at CGTalk with you. So i picked up some inspiration..sonn you will see the results. Now i have to work on my diploma also, so this challenge will be a bit lighter for me and mainly for fun and learn Zbrush. Am really curious coz i'm a traditional sculptor (it is a requirement for the industrial designers at the hungarian design school). In clay, industrial clay and in plaster. Am curious how this program can work with my style.
So please be patient with my mistakes and these forceless steps.. and of course your crits will be my guides through the story.

See ya soon,
Tremo

Hi folks,

You know those moments when catch sight with someone. This scene is about the moment when two stage divers meet each other while the're still in the air. It's goin to be a "compressed" event. A concentrated story in a second. Everything will be dynamic, just their feelings will be harmonious for a moment.

I will represent a more exact story later.

Have a nice day/night,
Tremo

Hi my friends,

So in these mad days i try to pick up the line again.

I modified the concept. I liked the previous one but I find out some other things.

New concept:---------------------------

Place: Somewhere, subway station's escalator.

Time:Present day, terrible Monday morning.

Situation: Beholder looks back from the escalators top. He see unbeliveable things. People turned into terrific creatures. All of these persons kept some important properties during this altering. For examle the rude Underground controller looks like a cactus with his spikes. The smart guy has a big-big head. The tired man's face looks like melting chese with those "liquid" cheeks. Looser type guy is a full of depression, big nose, unhealthy body.

Mission: I want to create some special characters with a spectacular alter of inner properties into outer forms. Terrible ones. As a bad monday morning mood plays game with my neurons while am traveling in the city..

Versiden
09-09-2005, 01:44 PM
that's a very interesting concept.. if executed well it could look really fantastic.. what is the cause of the transformation?

Tremoside
09-09-2005, 01:54 PM
Hi Martin,

transformation is purely coz of the beholders mood. Have you seen the Jacob's ladder movie?
It's like that. Hallucination for sure. Not a physical altering. Playing with "behind reality" questions.

Here we go. So you might ask why all
these people altering? Just coz the beholders bad mood? No-noo..It's because
the beholder is wearing a new fantastic stuff. It's (or these are) the VFX or Special effex glasses. It's a fun i can tell you. I always wanted to own some special stuffs as agent gadgets or x-ray glases. So it's time to realise this idea.

Nice start with zbrush. I like the idea a lot, but I kind of like it better when it was that the viewer was going crazy from stress instead of wearing vfx glasses, but that's just me. Curious to see how you will charicature all the people.

Hi all,

A huge message will come now...

handlebar: Thanks for all the comments! SO we will be basic students at this challenge time. How you are with Zbrush? I think it will work fine with your characters!

Lemog: You're fast again... Your scene will be a huge one if you keep this working speed, iknow you will.

JamesMK: Hey ur plane will crash into the challenge? Impressive, keep it comin my friend.
But where is the invoice?:scream:

gpepper: your idea is really sweet to me especially your right hand on avatar:buttrock:
This Zb is really a coll thing. I thought but now i pick up some experience by myself.

Gunilla: :wavey: How you doin know? Are you busy? Am waiting for you start with that beautifoul idea of yours.

sgabe+speter: YOU KNOW.....

DimitrisLiatsos: ohhaaa! Man that Tarantino-oldskool Chinese fight-art scene is awesome idea. You will do it again! Am glad, you're modelin characters again!

jddog: Julien your workflow is really sensitive. I mean i can follow your steps easily and your presentation is clean. It's fine. ALways good to see these kind of precise works, steb by step. Thsi new idea will stay, but i don't keep that VFX glass..That's a bit kidish:-)

mosconariz: How you doin my friend ?

Versiden: Martin i've seen you MnS image at 3dTotal too. That was a cool piece! How you doin these days? Will you update soon? I try to make that Underground scen well. It fit better for my unexisting Zbrush skills!

Madlight_1988: So you want to finish 5-6 days earlier? Positive thinkin is power!
Do you have some concept? Best luck again! You will rock am sure!

ace4016::wavey: YOu should be right. Thos eVFX glasse were a quick idea. Stress or mad beholder is better. Strange scene will it be... Charicature things will be the point on this.

illusiondigital: Best luck you too!

A I R: Congrats again for your job! It's a good news for the community. Keep it rockin.
Dinosaur scene will be a really spectacular one am sure!

collings: Thanks for the kind words about MnS. Best wishez mate. You have an energic and exciting sharc scene I think you should show more from the boat..but that's just taste..

melkao: Welcome my friend. As you see am jumping between concepts..it's still not finished...but later. So good to see you around!

mike0006: The concept changed a bit but the app. will be ZB of course. Am also curious how will it work.

Lemog: Laurent, what you think about the new scene? It's not as sensitive as the first one, but it's kind of critics of society a bit.

DaddyMack: HHa Robert,, Unknown ways? I dunno. For this time this challenge is goin around my ZB practicing. That's the most important, but i also want to creat something starnge again...What about your concept? Best luck daddy!!

ar Lutik: What a good surprise! Good to see you round here Gerard! I have to say your concept is my favorite right now!! Am excited! Keep it up! I have my cent on your image and am sure! Just remember when you win...:)

overcontrast: The second sketch of yours are better i think. It's always a good topic!
also like your sketchin style.

madshooter: Hi Roshan! Here we go again! Is it our third challenge together? am i right?
About your concept (escape) will it be a divided image? It has a cartoony feeling with that perspective. Helicop behind is really cool just as those killer bullets!

(o)ne: Her we're again. CGT is a drug for sure! Best luck my friend! Snowboard scene is a fine idea. Only thing: if i were you i change the posture of the rider. More dynamic ways. But it's a later comin thing. i mean you have time to playin around the right pose. Am glad you like my first steps. Great honor form you man! I liked your precise details!

Climax: "orgy" theme not accepted..just as love concept is dropped away. How you like the new one?

cipher: Thanks your comment...i changed that idea but it will stay for an other image..
Best luck mate!

Neeno: HI Marcel!! Am glad you're here! How you doin? I spent a month in Croatia this summer. It was work. One of my friends designed a gate and a stage for a disco. I was a mechanic over there. It's time for my diploma this year. SO this challenge will be done in rush..sad but diploma is more important right now. :wavey: I checked your concept. The topic itself goes well i think. Techically i think it's very hard to do. I don't know how is it fit for you, but that's a high score i think. Keep it up Marcel!

bealobo: I hope you 'll join! It would be nice the team together again! I like ur style you know! so??

gardogg: Hhahah:scream: What ZB skill you're takjin about. I don't have any! You're kind.

nemirc: You're right! state of mind version will be kept! Thanks for the suggestion. am happy you like that creature.

Yongkiat: Thanks!

eddiellis: Hi my fiend! Yeah! I always like to work with somekind of ironic stuffs. So good to see ya!

So concept is: Beholder is fed up with stress and damn pity things of everyday's life. He went crazy a bit. Damn tired too. During his travel to his workshop he looks back from the top of the Underground's escalator and see terrible people. Like a hallucination. Strange, characterized freaks and monsters surrounding him. What happens?

Now i have to make my other things. Update as soon as possible. Thanks for you attention,

Neeno: I'm sure you will do a great job my friend. Pushing the limits higher: the key to develop yourself. My diploma will be a bicycle. Now i made already 350 photos of old school bikes (i found a collector guy). Also have around 800 pages of printed information. It's a huge job. I have to retouching minimum 500 pics for the dip. thesis. Lot of work. After the thesis is written
i have to design my bike and finaly i have to turn it into a prototype. So i will suck with CNC outputs and welding technologies. As i see it will be a full stainless steeel bike :-). And of course i have to do a fine3d job about that. I think that will be done in Solidworks. Coz of technical requirements.

Well... that is not something I'd like to see behind me on my way to work... scary type!
Are youig to render in Max or Zbrush? I'd love it if you continue with Max ... I'm going to have great use of the skintutorial you wrote for the last challenge
This will be an awesome scene Tremo, best of luck!

mmoir: You're totally right! Glasses were just a fast fool idea. I already wrote it somewhere. So this scene will be titled like: Mad Monday Morning or whatsoever...!

Ramtin_moom: Me tooo! so textured model will come as i have more time than one hour a day...

nemirc: It's your choice! Try ZB..

JamesMK: You should be right about the pelvis. The textures and material setup still missing just as the alpha Z paintings for fine details like wrinkles and others. I hope it will work to you at the end!

handlebar: Thanks my friend! It's a learn Zbrush challenge to me, this is why i want to do as many things as i can in ZB. I was thinkin about that to switch more between apps. but thist time i think that could be a cheating on myself.

Gunilla:  feeels so good you wrote above. Honestly just as i wrote to handlebar:It's a learn Zbrush challenge to me. You have to know i still prefer traditional 3d apps but i have to train myself to the new waves and repair my missing skills also. Zb was one of these. Since i made over hundread heads and lots of full figures in clay i was very curious how ZB and me can cooperate. I use Solidworks at school (sometimes rhino) for exact industrial design forms. I prefer max for visualization, game characters and other things, but the flexibility of Zb was missing from this workflow. Now i have to fill this space.
I know it's less chance for me to win anything here and honestly i really need the chance coz hungarian jobs pay badly and i have to grab all the chances to turn my life easier.
This is my personal situation, but as an artist i always try to find the new ways...

sgabe: Yes, yes brother. This one s creepy. Gunilla is a girl as i know...!? Sleeping? what are you talkin about? I sleep ten hours a day.... or more..

Updates are comin soon. some sketchez.

You have to know i still prefer traditional 3d apps but i have to train myself to the new waves and repair my missing skills also.

I know what you mean here... I'm in the same spot myself, installed the new Zbrush demo yesterday but the interface is sooo frustrating to me. I know I will have to dedicate some time to learn it in a near future - as I see how much others can squeeze out of it.
As for the challenge - I think the best we can do is to grab the opportunity to practise and learn new skills as we go along, for me these occasions are better than most classes I've attended, and if I happen to make something to be proud of the better.
I think you're doing great concepts and if this ones turns out as good as your last I'm sure you will find a lot of chances for getting a better job. Just do what your heart desires and you'll be fine :)

And, yes - you're right - I am female ;)

Hah Gunilla! You have to know i have 4 brothers and sisters. All of them are younger than me.Probably you've seen these sgabe speter names, they're my younger brothers, twins. Gabor didnt know you're girl, that's happen sometimes if a hungarian meet with an unknown "exotic" name.:)

I tried ZB 155 a year or two ago. I also had that feeling with that. This time i sat down and read the first steps too and as the text sad i did it carefuly. It's really easy to step forward if you're done with the core of the interface well.

transformation is purely coz of the beholders mood. Have you seen the Jacob's ladder movie?
It's like that. Hallucination for sure. Not a physical altering. Playing with "behind reality" questions.

*shudders* Jacobs ladder still scares the crap out of me man... it took me a week to recover the first time I saw it (on magic mushrooms)

Hi my friends,

DaddyMack: Thanks. It's quite ugly  i hope so. Maybe too ugly for me..i like these kind but it's not enough antropomorph. Humanoid monsters are more scary i think, this time this was in my head allthough am not satisfied.

Ramtin_moom: You're kind with me. At the moment am too busy to work as much as i want to. So it's all what i can show now.

Lemog: Larent, my friend, always makes me laugh. Thanks fro that. Now i think i will scitch from this concept. I dunno yet, but somehow...it's not fit. Just a feeling.

JamesMK: Hahhha! Man you told the truth...i can't stop laughin:scream: . I havent seen that film, which is sad now, but your words are pointed right onto the case:thumbsup: .

Neeno: THX my friend!

claudio_jordao: Am wondering also. I hate this rush day after day. So just hope i can follow soon.

jddog: Thanks a lot!

nebezial: So you say you're new? Yu're doin great things. Just keep this spin. Am sure you will finish well:)

Madlight_1988: Ok both of you have right! This stuff will be somehow different i think. It's all depends my time.

Squibbit: Hi Panu, thanks fro drop in! Good to be in tha challenge together! So letS rock :buttrock:

vampeta: Hey Alex...what're you talkin about? Kind you're! Feels good hearing these words from a Pro.

madshooter: Thanks! It's a bit different from my usual ways of modeling, so this monster do not represent my actual skills with ZB. It's only a station at the moment.

General notes:

I spent few days away from home. I visited an industrial designer worksop at a hungarian village called Olaszliszka. That's near to Tokaj the famous vine producer area. I also consulted a lot about my diploma. Since that's the most important now, the huge amount of work makes me confused a bit. This is the reason why am searching for a new concept. A bit easier one. This is one of my reasons for change. The other is: I think this latest idea is not exactly a spectacular one. It could be fit, but that means a lot of work...more time to do. Right now time is what i don't have. So maybe one or two weeks i will update with a whole new idea. I also have a sort term job for the next three weeks, so my timetable is floating now. I will follow your steps from tha backround. :wavey:

Sounds wise, Mark. The most imortant thing shuld be your diploma right now. Why don't you try to find a concept that can be a bit flexible? One that could be finished with limited time but also be growing in case you have time to spare? I'm sure you figure out something good for this, good luck with the diploma work and finding a new suitable idea for the challenge :wavey:

Quick report :-)

I have to say a huge thanks for your support! Friends...thanks a lot!

As you see am away now from the challenge. There are many things right now for me.
From one side there is my diplome thesis. The deadline is december 15 as i know. There are some other tasks also, I have to design a pre diploma stuff. A complete stress test ECG machine for a hungarian corp which working with medical devices. This will be "quite easy" but my deadline is november 30. After all the main task right now to earn some money to produce my diploma work. I will design a complete bicycle. So it will cost a lot. Welding, CNC works, stainless steel works, ball bearings etc...

So am currently workin' on a few different projects, and the university is kickin my ass for other things at the same time. :-)

Finally, my girlfriend left me alone after three years coz this lifestyle of nosleep, norelax, workoholic thing. Sad but true..that's my fault and am not proud of it.

So i will be back after a month or so. I hope i can work on this Spectacular project (am sure i will :) ) to do this i have to finish my main tasks and pick up myself from the floor after this emotional shock.

I promise i will do what am able to...

Sad news about your girlfriend, I'm really sorry. To find a balance between job and the rest in life is both difficult and important - you will need the energy you get from family and friends. Hi again fellows,

After a short break am back for a few minutes to share this new idea.

So, my hero is well known...Santa is a familiar guy :) i was thinkin about the deadline in december and somehow i picked out this "santa topic".

My point with this idea will be seen on the third update this time...

this image was just a playin around the topic. A kind of "vivisection" of Santa, to understand his anatomy and the character itself :)

ok, here we go..
it's a more realistic adaptation of Santa's body..as he grabbing a kind of mass. playin with power and proportions.
still in pencil :)

Here is the complete new concept.
A spectacular stormy desert scene with a funny action in the foreground.

The story:
Poor santa, he has a quite unfriendly mission. To deliver a camel (in his bag :) )to an oasis. As you see the palms behind him and the label sticked on the camel's neck, the address symbollized by a palmtree.

The situation:

Pamela the camel is heavy and lazy...really a lazy camel. Santa is suffering in hot stormy wether and he's fed up with carring her.

Spectacle:

Have you ever seen Santa to carry a camel in a bag in the middle of the desert? While he wears a red hot underwear? did ya? If you did send me a message :)

ok, seriously,

have a nice day/night,
Mark

I started with a basic blocked mesh to follow it with Zb detailing. The rest of the body comin soon(hope). I tried Zspheres before as you seen but that doesn't fit for me as i thought at the first time. So i turned to my oldskol tools in max.

Have nice day/night,

I started to built up Santa's body. Not detailed, mainly for proportions. Few things come before i send it back to max for reposing. After repose i will do main task siultaneously on the base figure and posed one via morph target.
Also i have to model the bag and the camel too for keep the scene in one hand.

It's a really basic ZB scene although i really enjoy lotsa features of this app.
The only really annoying thing is that orthographic viewport :) but this is why the whole app. can work so fastly (i think, for proj. mast. it's the best scene setup). But who cares. Fun as always.

Have anice day/night,

Tremo

My friends,

Really feels good youre missing my work and ask for more. Right now i have deadlines almost every week. I've finished a rendered architectural walkthorough to my ex girlfriends boss. My school tasks also makes me busy. I want to finish with those heavy things for first and after that (the ground is too hot right now for my feet :scream: at the university) so i planned to spend two weeks with Santa project before the CGTalk deadline. Work "from dusk till dawn" style. To do this i have to target all my forces into common thinks as i wrote above. So i will back again around the middle week of november to push as hard as possible. Santa must be finished somehow. Sure. So see ya later,

Have a nice day/night,

Mark

I used skinwrap modifier in max to get better control on original mesh. The lowpoly version was better to set up the skinning.

Ok, back for a moment,

melkao : "great model of santa...tha fat man is killing me....good an very cool work"
Thank sou mate! I try to keep a balance between fat and muscles. Santa is a strong man of course but he also has some rounded areas!

dvelasco: "nice profile on the fat man!"
THX a lot! Posing it finally in Zb will be interesting. It's a bit heavier than thin people models posing.

eddiellis: "wow. i missed loads of progress on this one... great work man, and some great ZB skills... ... and you still crack me up"
Hey my friend, i've seen your fine work few days ago, it's going on well! you crack me up tooo :hehe: but there are no Zb skills am just leraning now. Maybe the next challenge.

rattlesnake: "modeling is going really good mate!:applause:"
Hi Jorge, thanks...this brake was too long. I hope i can finish in time. So deadline run will come!

Gunilla: "Oh yes! Santa model is looking real good - just waiting for the beard. He will have a beard, right? Good to see you on the roll with your new concept "
Hehe, Gunni you wrote these above few days-weeks ago...so rolling is a bit slow :scream: allthough i try to pick up the glove again and again. So best wishez to you with that wonderful project!

maxim capra: "hehe, you made me laugh. santa is looking nice in his pants "
Hi mate, welcome here! laughing is one of the best things in life, so am glad to hear about that.

(o)ne: "looks ok so far, waiting for more. "
Thanx Stepan! Sorry for this long-long brake...i hope next few days will be productive...hope

nemirc: "I think the texture should be a little more uniform?"
It's mainly becaouse of the shaders inner noise and color bump..that will be solved for sure

Madlight_1988: "textures are looking good so far, thats a good point!"
Thanks Ali, you know it's really basic.. after the reposing process i have to repaint these basic colorups, so am on it. The uniformity problems comes from the shading..too large noise settings..hheeehhe still a ZB student :buttrock:

Lemog: "Just waiting for more Mark... go go gooooooooo "
Hi Laurent, i was a bit slow...now time to run run ruuuuuun :buttrock:

Mikeface: "That's one creepy looking Santa. I think it's the empty eye sockets. Nice modelling though!"
For sure Mike, hehe eyes are not required...ok it's a hard task to model them, for eg. spheres lol :scream:

A I R: "HEEY MARk man..Nice fatt man you got here. Long time no write.
Im here and watching at you, from the other side of his cg's interface.:) Keep it coming, cos I like when things are coming."
Oh Damir, hehe i tried to find some slaves to work instead of me..unsuccessful it was. Now i sit here too and waiting for my updates..but this Mark is a lazy freak :scream:

ilusiondigital: "Wassup Mark, i miss your thread, really a cool idea and fun as usual (black humour you have), hope to see more and i wish you tons of luck my friend"
thanks for the tons. I used few kilogramms of it fro my schoolworks. it was useful so. Now the challenge is near to the and and i have nothing, so i will follow this mass to enforce myself.

madshooter: "Santa lools awesome, very nice model and proportions are perfect:bowdown:, Waiting to see more dude, Keep going:bounce: "
WOWOW, feels good you like it! Keep running mode is on!

DaddyMack: "Heya Tremo, hope you can make some time mate! Love havin you around for the challenge and your work rocks our world mate;) Good luck!"
HHa, man if i hear these kind of things i drop my heart in front of the community..it always gives extra power in hard times :bowodwn:

LEMOG (2): "As I see my friend, you're always very buzy... well... 2 weeks with full time before the deadline can permit you to do something good I think... I'm waiting... it's finally very soon to follow the next santa claus steps... courage Mark... and come back with us soon "
Honestly..i had to earn some money for my diploma too. Coz next half year i cant work and my final protoype of the diploma design (a bicycle) will cost a lot especially coz the CNC and handmade components. And hungarian designers have to pay all the costs by themselves. Only few can catch a sponsor. Am sad about this challenge, but there are other tasks too. So i just hope i can finish somehow in deadline...

GUNILLA (2): "Good luck with all your deadlines, Mark - and looking forward to see you back to finish this! I'm sure Santa will be ready in good time before Christmas "
hha, yesss it's the Christmas Challenge Session :buttrock: I hope too, lady! Now am runnin, to work twice haaaaard! Still have some (4-5) deadline things, but the horrror days are over.
So let's rock!

dvelasco: "Zbrushing starting to look good!" I hope i wil learn this Zb on a day...now it makes me crazy with the orthographic camera view..but it has some undoubtedly fine abilities for sure.

See ya few days later...have a nice day/night whenever/wherever you're,
