09-06-2005, 12:45 PM
Hola! This is my first "incursion" on a challenge :) And here I put a quick sketch that I made right now. I tought on a brave or fool guy who decides to participate on another challenge :D Jump from a balloon to fall on an air mattress target over an airplane...nothing new.. :)
I´ll continue with another sketches with different angles. Let´s work!
09-06-2005, 12:48 PM
Another sketch :) And I forgot: nice to meet all of you :)
09-06-2005, 01:41 PM
Interesting concept. Nice work so far, can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Welcome to the challenge, and good luck! :)
09-06-2005, 04:46 PM
Thanks enialadam :) and very good luck to you too!!I´ll keep on posting
09-06-2005, 06:04 PM
Another sketch with another perspective. Will he fall into the target?? :)
09-06-2005, 06:21 PM
lookin great, this one looks better tha the first!
09-06-2005, 08:43 PM
Gracias NOOB!:) I´ll keep on working on this kind of perspective and increase the power of the 3 principal elements: balloon, the crazy guy and the freaky airplane:D
09-06-2005, 08:53 PM
I also like the second one better, much more dynamic there :) Good job with this! Cant wait to see some colors
09-06-2005, 09:08 PM
I am thinking that you could maybe combine the two. It is good to have a large figure there and it is also good to have the sense of vertigo. Maybe you could make it a really tall composition?
I look forward to seeing how this all comes togther. I have a slight fear of heights and My hands are sweating already.
09-06-2005, 09:11 PM
looking good! This angle is much better idea. Nice work!
09-07-2005, 12:50 PM
Annemee: thanks, me too:D
John Keates: yeap, I´m think about opening the angle to see more ground, sky and the balloon. Don´t worry, I´ll give you more vertigo:twisted:
I´ll post a first sketch of an airplane right now:)
09-07-2005, 12:53 PM
Here´s the first version of the airplane with the dartboard :D Sure I´ll change the colors and the graphics of the plane.
09-07-2005, 02:55 PM
Hehe, original idea. The previous image has a cool point of view.
09-09-2005, 12:40 AM
Thanks so much, Koekebakker:thumbsup:
09-09-2005, 12:42 AM
Hi again, I did right now this b&w first sketch of the hole composition. Now I´ll work on the design of the clothes, logos, airplane, etc and, of course, the fool old flying man :D
09-09-2005, 07:46 PM
Hi again! HOlaa!! :) the first takes of the old man head. I´m thinking about dressing him as outlandish as I can :D. Thanks for your comments! (if somebody comment my works, I´ll invite him/her to a spanish omelette, lol!)
09-09-2005, 11:36 PM
mmmm....Tortilla de patata.... I'll write in english so everybody can understand, ok?
I like the idea of making him look so weird, jejeje, those faces are great!
About the image composition, maybe in my opinion the plane looks too near, and the distance between the globe and the plane looks a bit "short"...
I'll be waiting to see it coloured, it looks like it's going to be a good, funny and dynamic image!! buena suerteee!!
09-10-2005, 12:07 AM
Ok heheh, yeah, I´m working on a more vertical angle about the hole composition .The balloon will be higher, more located on the diagonal balloon-guy-plane, but, about the plane, I don´t want to separate the old man and the airplane too much because the plane, of course, is much bigger than the guy then: the speed of the guy plus the speed of the plane (physique class for free!lol!)that´s the question. If the plane flies low, the guy..DO´H! If the guy "runs" to much, again DO´H! ( The man won´t carry parachute:twisted: )
I´ll continue working:bounce:  gracias, tío!
09-11-2005, 12:18 PM
Hellou again! :) This time I made a quick sketch with two planes and a much more bigger target. I think that the game with 2 planes will be more spectacular. I´ll make the target bigger, with many elastic ropes to hold the falling of the man. This is an elastic target to allow the planes take off without problems :) (of course with good pilots :D )
09-11-2005, 12:53 PM
Wow! Really great idea. Made me laugh! Can't wait to see where you take it. :applause:
09-11-2005, 10:55 PM
Thanks so much, ShichiFukujin:) Glad you like it and make laugh:thumbsup: Just now I´m spreading out some sheets on my drawing table to make the hole composition, searching for a more dinamic work.:wavey:
09-13-2005, 01:50 AM
Hi Gonzalo !!
we both working on a similar theme. ^_^
have you considered using fish eye lens for the shot? The globe and the plane a little bit far and the man big in the middle. It's kind of a nightmare to make such a shot but I think it fits perfectly to your shot.
09-13-2005, 02:06 AM
Now thats gotta be dangerous...a spectacular skydive. Is it a velcro suit so he sticks to it....:D
Great progress sofar.
09-13-2005, 02:16 PM
firstname.lastname@example.org (email@example.com): thanks! yeap, now I´m working on a more opened angle and on the first sketch I tought to give an eye fish aspect nad now, as soon as I can, I´ll put a new sketch of the hole composition with this effect :)
element5: LOOL!! like those japanese tv program, I don´t know if you know it. I think it was called Takeshi´s Castle :D
lol! Thanks for your comments. I´ll put more on the next episode:D
09-14-2005, 08:24 PM
Hola! Well a second sketch of the hole composition. Again, this is my idea:
A guy from the spectacle world who will do his final, once in his life madness. Jump from a balloon without parachute to fall on a giant target secure with two big planes :)
When I begin with the color process, sure I´ll add more buildings, coast, objects, etc. And, of course, the surface design of the elements of this works :)
09-14-2005, 08:40 PM
And here is another with a more eye fish effect on the human figure :)
09-14-2005, 09:17 PM
Here I separate the two halfs of the work to add more distance. I think it´ll work better, I hope :)
lol ! very cool concept amigo  the last comp is the best imho
hehe did you think of putting a metall pin on his head..like on a real dart ? :)
09-15-2005, 01:01 AM
hahaha that's a cool concept man! very funny!:applause:
I think the perspective in your last post works great!
Vahn's idea is awesome LOL!
09-15-2005, 05:38 PM
Vahn: hehe, gracias!LOL!YEAH! I tought on dressing the guy as flashy as I can:D I´ll put something similar to a metal pin but not too mcuh big, cause I made a take with this idea and looked like the guy was more near to the target. Curious..Maybe an atrezzo helmet with dart shape, lol! Thanks for your advice, man:thumbsup:
Rudeone: Man, let´s get your panda and this guy together and we´ll conquer the world! HAHA
09-15-2005, 05:38 PM
This is a great concept. Extreme sports pushed to the maximum level! Your character concepts are excellent too. Keep going :D
09-15-2005, 11:28 PM
Thanks so much, DaveH:) I´ll keep on, I promise you:thumbsup:
09-15-2005, 11:30 PM
Well, this is the final main elements composition. After this, I think I´ll begin with the color process, yesss. Let´s study in depth!!
09-16-2005, 09:28 PM
I started with the first, quick color process, looking for the light and elements that convinces me.
now just paint it with superb technique.
09-16-2005, 09:53 PM
put some cloud in the empty blue sky, I think that is what is needed, Lookin' good though, good luck!
09-16-2005, 11:07 PM
09-17-2005, 08:59 AM
Oh no! I know this will sound pathetic but ive been having the same vision! Arghhh...what do you guys think i can do? Maybe I can alter mine abit?
Anyways....great concept doode. More!:bounce:
09-17-2005, 09:04 AM
Hey Gonzalo! Last concept looks fantastic. I like cartoon style and colors.
Keep great working! :)
09-17-2005, 09:34 AM
great so far...love the angles and the view is spectacular...WWOOOOHHHOOOOO!!
09-17-2005, 10:08 AM
Don't worry about the clouds, put in teh aftermath of a masive sunset so put in purples, oranges, pinks etc etc! Keep it up I am luvin this one!
09-17-2005, 10:54 AM
Great forced perspective composition, maybe too empty. I'm sure playing with clouds would produce nice abstract shapes. Keep it up and good luck!
09-17-2005, 11:23 AM
well, I don't know, an empty sky gives it a sense of being all alone in the sky, it may increase the feeling of "no parachutes, no breaks, just this guy versus gravity"... but I really don't know, probably you can keep that same feeling with some clouds or whatever....
The perspective works really good... buen trabajo! sigue así!
09-17-2005, 01:22 PM
I like the fresh colors in this image! The final composition creates a great feeling of height, good job. I would consider not to use any dominant clouds and colors in the sky, it might distract a bit from the main elements. On the other hand it can create a very nice mood...hmm, difficult. Wonder how it will turn out. :)
09-18-2005, 02:13 PM
Hey, thanks for your words!
Ranath: yeah, I´ll put my 32 senses on it:thumbsup:
beelow: thanks for your comments. I´m working on some skylines clouds on the horizon line cause I want to keep the loneliness and greatness of a cloudness day:)
maranello55: hehe, I had the same situation before I begin this work with another one of this challenge. All of us are connected, man:D Good luck with your project!
rawwad: Hey, thanks!Good luck with your huge bikes!
element5: thanks, let´s jump!:)
Mason Roberts: thanks man. Well, I think the sunset or almost the sunset light would be more...romantic or quiet, I think. I chose this part of the day cause it´s the time when our blood pressure´s higher (mainly if you dídn´t go out the night before:D )thanks!
p4b10: Thanks, Pablo!
elmasfeo: I think I´m agree with you, man. No clouds on foreground increase that feeling. I´ll keep on working about this theme:thumbsup: Graciassss
Koekebakker : thanks for your words too:thumbsup:
09-18-2005, 02:41 PM
This is a unique one. I love the composition, and the feel you get from it. Really amazing job. Cant wait to see how you're going to render it.
09-18-2005, 03:41 PM
wow!! amazing perspective! This is super cool, nice work!!
09-18-2005, 04:10 PM
totaly stunning concept man! very original! and dynamic and full of motion!
carry on man! cheers!
09-18-2005, 04:30 PM
Another madman lol.
Seems like great minds think simmilarly.
Great angle, Good luck!
09-18-2005, 07:38 PM
I definitely agree.... this is a very unique concept!
Your perspective is dramatic and gives the sense that youre definitely extremely high off the ground. Good choice of colors... will you be adding clouds to the sky?
09-18-2005, 11:20 PM
CoreyArtE:  you give me extra-power energy to keep on working:)
enialadam: thanks so much. Glad you like it:)
ShichiFukujin: lol!!yeah, before breakfast I use to jump without parachute (and always I fall down on the same place:D )
Mecha Hate Chimp: Really appreciate your words, man. I´m adding clouds on the horizon, yep.
09-18-2005, 11:28 PM
Hola!! Well, a little update. About the clouds, I prefer to put some of them on the horizon, so I can make the most of the hole sky to give the sensation of height.
09-19-2005, 12:01 AM
I hope this is not a Target comercial
grat composition, love that contrast, cool work man
09-19-2005, 04:47 PM
Thanks, Korline. Definitely, it won´t be comercial:D
09-20-2005, 12:21 AM
Well, I´m working on the ground :) giving quick strokes with the brushes to put different areas: buildings, grass, beach, etc. I put a detail to watch these quick touches. When I finish this, I´ll start to draw the buildings and all stuff with much more detail,so, let me go to the market to buy four bags of patiente ;-)
09-20-2005, 08:07 AM
Very cool perspective, great so far.
09-20-2005, 08:33 AM
This is coming along great! I can't wait to see the details on the builings.
09-20-2005, 09:31 PM
ar LutiK: thanks! :) good luck with your original spectacular 3D vision:thumbsup:
enialadam: I´ll make a call to those little friends (I don´t know the name in english) who always were building houses on fraguel rock, hahaha. Thanks!!:D
09-22-2005, 05:27 PM
This concept really has energy...very nice compose too...
Awesome stunt this guy make:)
09-23-2005, 05:09 PM
vincent_v: thanks, guy hehe. I´ll tell you a secret: under his pants, he has a big magnet to attract the target:D
09-23-2005, 05:46 PM
Well, I´m working on the ground, right now making one beach. Here I show you a small detail :)
09-24-2005, 10:11 PM
hi there! A very good idea, I hope it will be very detailed and dynamic as it seems from first sketches. good luck!
09-25-2005, 12:38 PM
Thanks, Blaz:) I´ll "detail" it, hehe. By the way I saw your work Sea Rising, amazing job! You will give good works to this world:)
09-26-2005, 09:04 PM
Hi there! I was working with the balloon :) I decided to make it a bit distorted to keep the sense of fish eye lens. Hope you like my little balloon ;-)
09-26-2005, 09:50 PM
Very cool! This is coming along fantastic! nice work!
09-26-2005, 11:42 PM
looking great man!
He so totally is gonna miss that bulseye hahaha
09-27-2005, 05:49 AM
Great detailing love your work, can't wait to see the final.
09-27-2005, 09:13 AM
Excellent detail my friend.... I was looking at the design of the target....maybe the rig could be tethered above the wing.....this could save the daredevil from being sucked into the turbines....could be very messy....hehe.
Great image
09-27-2005, 01:37 PM
it's looking very good!
you're going to be mad after painting all the details in the ground, good luck finding the patience...4 bags are not going to be enough, hehehe...
I've just noticed one little thing: the sky's gradient is too vertical, maybe you could incline it a bit to fit better the horizon line...
09-27-2005, 02:10 PM
enialadam: hey, thanks for your words!
ar LutiK: thanks!let´s work:)
element5: hehe, when I started with this idea, I tought to put the net over the plane first, and over the planes too but, if I put it over them, when the guy falled into it, the supports of it could crash with the wings and unbalance the planes. Perhaps I´ll put these supports more separated of the planes. Thanks!
elmasguapo: :) I´m painting the ground right now,,buff haha. I´ll remember your good advice about the sky:thumbsup:
09-27-2005, 06:41 PM
just awesome! I think everything is in the right place, maybe just pop-out those two planes and a target, but otherwise congratulations already! Love the way u r pushing this image!
09-28-2005, 06:21 PM
Thanks ninjaaaa I catch your advice:) Let´s make buildingss and buiildingsss, hehe
09-28-2005, 10:50 PM
Working the ground, buildings, etc. What a beautiful 2 months ahead of me to make tiny houses and things like that! :-D
09-29-2005, 06:28 AM
Really nice stuff so far! I am liking the dynamics of it good stuff, and I see now where you are going with this image, good luck to ya man!
09-29-2005, 09:17 PM
Hey beelow how´re you?:) Thanks man, you give me extra power to continue the job:thumbsup:
10-01-2005, 02:38 PM
Hola! now, I´m working on the left plane and my dear ground ;P , giving the first layer of final colors. When I finish it, I´ll work on the hole atmosphere to give the feeling of height :)
10-02-2005, 12:48 PM
I love the fisheye look.
10-03-2005, 09:06 PM
hey gonzalo... nice update... nice the perspective and the coloring goes great!! I'll wait to see more...
10-04-2005, 05:04 PM
aaron111: yeah, to this design, I love the fisheye lens too :)
Ducklator: muchas gracias brother:thumbsup:
10-04-2005, 05:07 PM
Almost a month that I began my first challenge, this one :) Wonderful experience to be honest. A little update, working on the target, the planes and adding some clouds to make depth.
10-07-2005, 12:43 AM
Hi there again! Oh, one month since I started this concept :) Here I put an airplane
detail with some target and ground which is the stuff I´m working on. I´ll put more things,
security ropes and etc to the target. Have a nice and Spectacular October!! :-)
10-07-2005, 02:47 AM
keep up the great updates. The curved perspective is excellent.
10-07-2005, 12:26 PM
Thanks, whooosh for your comments
10-08-2005, 01:27 AM
Looking great!! I love the whimsical looks and color choices you made. Good luck!
10-08-2005, 04:53 PM
hey man! ur process is looking really good :) I would have just one complain... about that target that looks like it would be bend (those shadows on the edge). It looks unlogic. but thats all I could say for now, except once again, congratulations for the awesome concept!
10-09-2005, 01:23 AM
dkconcept: Thanks so much. You have very interesting jobs in your website:)
Hi Mr.Ninja:) how about the submarine?hehe Well, I bent the target to give the feeling of eyefish lens to the hole composition as you could watch on previous images but I memorize your advice:) Now it looks different cause I´m adding more shadows to this composition. I´ll show it.Thanks so much for your words. I´ll comment your progress with the dimensions of your work.I´m sure you´ll win an award in this challenge:thumbsup:
10-11-2005, 12:04 AM
Hi! Everything´s ok?hehe I continue with my planes an target and my dear ground :) . I change a little bit the shape of the target to give the feeling of a funny air bed. Hope you like it and see ya!
10-11-2005, 12:14 AM
wow! nice details!
I always thought the target would be flat, and it looks like it's got some volume, but that's your personal choice anyway...I just think it looks a bit 'too solid'... are you planning to add some trails behind the planes?
sigue así, que tiene muy buena pinta!...quién tuviera esa paciencia para los detallitos del suelo:D
10-11-2005, 12:35 AM
Well, I prefer making the target like the last image cause, to me, the target before this one appears more solid or flat and I like to give the feeling of volume to make it more thick:) and yes, I´ll add the typical hot trail of the jets:)
En verdad te digo que esto es bueno para la paciencia, tío, jajaj
This is comming along great,
im sure by december this will be truely spectacular,
good on you for putting in the big effort
10-12-2005, 09:29 AM
Thanks, IKIN good luck with your idea too:)
10-12-2005, 09:34 AM
I like your ground colors. Just... you need to separate plane from ground, they are in one level now.
10-12-2005, 10:40 AM
Thanks, anskrit:) yeah I´m working on separate the levels, I´m adding some little low clouds to increase the separation
10-12-2005, 10:57 AM
Hi! working with some clouds to make depth :) and continue working on the ground to make the cities and etc hehe
10-12-2005, 01:30 PM
Well, I´ve noticed that I´d change the composition to make the planes don´t stick to the ground as you noticed too :) I decide to make it higher to make the feeling of vertigo even more, change the angle of the planes, etc. I´ll add a small plane down below the big ones and some balloons too, like my first sketches. I´m glad now with this composition, do you think the same?.. yes??....or yes?? hehe. Regards!
Hi zalo Golpe. That's a really funny Idea. COOL. Keep it up. Post more updates for that funny and COOL Idea.
10-12-2005, 08:55 PM
Gonzalo - I definitely like the direction it's moving in... as in planes moving up. The composition works better with them taller, and the left plane reads better in front of the water. Maybe it could go up even a little bit more, just to break the plane of the horizon. anyhow, just an idea. Good luck with it!
10-12-2005, 09:07 PM
i really like this design and idea. there are a few thing i think could help improve on it though. first, it looks like a bullseye to me, a dartboard looks much different. also, everything is top notch except for the dart-dude. i think he needs a bit more of a dynamic pose and intense expression to fit into the picture.
10-13-2005, 12:09 PM
2xbo: muchas gracias!!:)
Mike: thanks so much:) I think the same hehe, Yes I went up the planes but it seemed that they´re too near from the guy and the perspective of height lost a little bit but thanks again for your interesting words:thumbsup: and good luck with your falling in love man-dinosaur:D
bakanekonei: thanks!well, I didn´t do a dartboard but a target, the classical circle target red & white:) About the guy, he´s still a little far of the planes so I want to make it almost on a spiritual attitude, on a calm moment, enjoying the world but thanks for your analysis, I memorize your advice:)
10-13-2005, 01:54 PM
yess it really looks coolz man! no crits!
10-14-2005, 12:08 PM
yunisirees: appreciate your comments:) I was watching to your project too, like your bird hehe, good luck!!
this angle you painted here is out of this world..it looks so cool..and the whole concept..wow..congradulations
10-14-2005, 01:05 PM
Hola! :) well, Now I decided to change the size of the canvas, making a little bit more width and high to put some more atmosphere to the elements of the composition.
Thanks again for your comments. I´m really glad to take part in this contest and watching all of your talent proporsals too :-) A wonderful experience.
10-15-2005, 11:32 AM
Well I made some changes about the size of the canvas and clouds. I made the canvas bigger to increase the hole atmosphere, put the planes on the horizon line to separate from the ground and an important fact: change the light direction of the first clouds, cause on the lasts post I´ve noticed that the sun is in one place and the clouds shadow is on another place hehe. Thanks for your comments again!
10-15-2005, 11:34 AM
And thanks so much to you, Oro hehe and good luck with your idea!
10-15-2005, 11:55 AM
I think I liked the previous one better, with bigger planes and guy, but it might be something personal...
10-15-2005, 12:58 PM
Do you know what?hehe I think the same haha I´ll work the previous. The planes are better on that position.
Muchas gracias por la observación, tío!
10-15-2005, 01:07 PM
Hi again. Before I lunch :) I´ll post a modification. Back to the almost last post I think the planes work better (Thanks elmasfeo) :)
W - O - W
I really like your style and the idea here, wicked stuff.
10-17-2005, 02:46 PM
Thanks Ranath good luck to tou too:thumbsup:
10-17-2005, 08:35 PM
I think what is making this pretty weak is that the character is pretty small, try making him larger, I would like to see the character more, this may help with the space, but still a nice ideaand great painting, good luck man!
10-17-2005, 10:22 PM
Ok beelow, I catch your advice hehe and made some modifications that I´m going to put here right now:) A friend of mine told me the same hehe. Thankss!!!
10-17-2005, 10:37 PM
Hi my friends! :) I make the guy bigger and the balloon, think works better. What do you think? Now, I´ll work on the light of the hole composition, finish the ground and then I´ll work the crazy guy.
Thanks for your words, comments, kisses and etc haha
10-17-2005, 10:46 PM
Much better, I am more attracted to it, try bigger and see what it looks like!:D
10-17-2005, 11:08 PM
I´ll try it biggerr...gooooooooo!!! haha
10-17-2005, 11:11 PM
Shinny happy peopleee...biggerrr=happier :)
Hi Gonzalo looks much better with a larger guy
It dosent seem like he is going to hit that target now.....
10-18-2005, 01:27 AM
Looks like you are doing a terrific job, Gonzalo. Try placing/scaling your chopper in different ways. It is a little hard to notice now.
10-18-2005, 05:15 AM
LOL, yes now it is working a lot more. You have filled up the space, and also the character is more apparent and makes the image more interesting, great stuff so far! He almost seems as if he is not going to make it!:D
10-18-2005, 12:23 PM
Let´s paint the guy with his wonderful powerglasses!! ;-)
10-18-2005, 12:27 PM
IKIN: thanks guy! I thought the same hehe
2tacos99cents:  I´ll do it
beelow: LOL! I´d be a big D´OH!!
10-18-2005, 02:01 PM
Crazy Spaniard! I love how he isnt even looking at the target, I think that is what makes it tense! Good Luck
10-18-2005, 11:10 PM
just so you can see a variety of opinions, I will disagree with beelow (I hope you don't mind)and say that I think the guy is too big right now, hehehe... maybe something intermediate between this one and the one you had at the beginning...
you could make a poll between the people you find around you, jeje
10-19-2005, 12:09 AM
Well Fernando, I was working with different sizes and this one I think works better for several reasons:
the diagonal line between the far plane and his left arm gives dinamic sense to the composition
I flipped vertical the canvas an found that the vertigo feeling is stronger than the previous figures, because of the size of the different elements. On the previous works, my mistake was that the figure and planes weren´t so differents talking about sizes. Now we can see that the balloon and the figure are much more bigger and the planes more far than before.
Anyway, hehe, I let my doors open, like your planes advice, so, who knows, the composition can change hehe:thumbsup:
Thanks for your comments again!
10-19-2005, 12:10 AM
Oh sorry, Jose thanks so much to you too hehe yeah, I think the same about the fact you comment:thumbsup:
10-19-2005, 12:24 AM
no critics for now, looks pretty good to me :applause:
10-19-2005, 12:24 PM
Hi there! I resize a little bit the guy and change a little bit the prespective too, I think it´s better hehe. 46 days left, and I have to build several cities :SSSSSS hehe
10-19-2005, 12:26 PM
Thanks Korline!! good luck to you tooo!!:)
10-20-2005, 11:54 PM
Hi! another little update, coloring the guy and making tiny homes :)
10-22-2005, 03:21 PM
Working the ground, putting harbours and things like that :-)
10-22-2005, 04:33 PM
Zalo - Hey, it's looking really good. What a lot of painstaking detail on all of the buildings and homes and harbours - they're looking great! I like that you've put in glare from the sun on the water... though I wonder how it would look more centerred in the picture.
anyhow, great work. Keep going... and thanks for all your comments in my thread, too! :)
10-22-2005, 04:56 PM
wow, great work u did there! i love the idea, very amusing. :)
10-24-2005, 12:34 AM
You´re welcome, Mike:) And thanks to you too for your good advices:thumbsup:
firstname.lastname@example.org for your words too!
10-26-2005, 11:53 AM
Hi! now I´m making the gloves and boots and of course, my dear ground :-S hehe. Also I´ve changed a little bit the direction of the sun, I think it´s better now.
10-26-2005, 12:23 PM
all i can say is WOW!
10-26-2005, 01:02 PM
I like this idea, but I think his helme (or whatever he wears on his head) could use some more detail and the two planes are a little too far from each other I think, even considered you're using a fish lense (if I spell that right).
10-26-2005, 01:56 PM
email@example.com (firstname.lastname@example.org): all I can say is thanks!:)
yoitisi: yeah, you´re right I think the same, the target is too straighted, thanks for your advice, I´ve changed a bit this aspect now. About the strange helmet, I´m working on this element too:) thanks again!
10-26-2005, 02:57 PM
I´ve changed a little bit the target and plane perspective, too straighted before :)
10-26-2005, 06:33 PM
Wow, very nice changes and upgrades. Really nothing extra to point out, I just hope that the guy will get some extra details, but other than that nothing more to add. Great job so far! :)
10-27-2005, 12:20 PM
Thanks, Mr.Porenta:D yeah, I´ll detail it:bounce:
10-27-2005, 12:22 PM
Hi there again! I´m detailling and changing the strange helmet of this guy and I go up a bit the planes, changing the ground shape to increase the feeling that the planes are flying :) thanks for your words, of course!
10-27-2005, 10:54 PM
this is getting clean, shiny and...beautiful, good job
maybe it's a perspective thing, but... aren't the nose and mouth too close each other? isn't the guy's upper lip too small?
as a humble sugerence, maybe you could put more colours into the clothes apart from orange... more flashy and ...hortera y cantoso (sorry for the spanish everybody else...)
10-28-2005, 12:12 AM
Hola Fernando!:) Well, I´m working on the guy face. In this drawing the face only have the first touches. I´ll show you here when I finish it, of course:thumbsup:
About the clothes..From the beginning of my project I was thinking about this theme... I´ll make some takes, hehe
..and hortera y cantoso jaja, me moló eso:scream:
10-28-2005, 12:46 AM
can i say again great work? :D can't wait for some more details! good luck man!
10-28-2005, 03:56 PM
Hii! Well, when I started to make this job, I thought abaout the clothes of the guy. I wanted to make it tight and funny and, apart from that, the clothes should be warm, like those thermical blankets :) So, right now, I decided to start with this matter. When you apply saturation strokes and play with layer levels and CMYK colors, you can separate the tones in a way that transforms the surface like ...plastic or something like that. I wanted to introduce this aspect on the guy clothes. Well, the guy isn´t finished yet but I´m starting to be happy with him, hehe.
Also I´ve changed the perspective of the far plane. Thanks again for your words!
10-28-2005, 03:59 PM
And email@example.com (firstname.lastname@example.org)you can tell me that everytime you want hahah. Good luck to tou too!
some issues with the figure looking weird... not because of the distortion of the bird eye... it just seems disfigured right now with no real anatomy.. maybe try to look at some sky diving photos for referance. :P
and now for the good news. i commend you on your background. its definatly 5 beers :D
10-28-2005, 09:39 PM
This new clothes color doesnt seem to work for me... Its too light on his back, like it is overburnt with the light. And the diver him self doesnt step out to the front anymore (those orange clothes really draged him out in the first plan). But I really love his helmet :) And I must agree with Slav that his anathomy isnt very real, but I dont mind that... it doesnt bother me at all coz it looks more funny and clumsy that way :D
10-28-2005, 10:17 PM
I like the way you represented the earth, and how you gave this "time suspended" feeling.
However I'm not sure about the anatomy and the position of the guy. Because of the oddness of the position, you have to build the anatomical structure of your character VERY precisely.
In similar case, I personnaly don't hesitate to sketch the squeleton, then muscles, and only then the external aspect of the body.
Hope it'll help.
10-28-2005, 11:55 PM
Slav,NinjaASSN and Arctis: Hi:) Here it´s a good example of the value of a critic. After nearly two months I decided to flip vertical the hole canvas and watched that all of you are right:thumbsup: Although my intention was to create some distortion to the guy, there are good anatomy mistakes, hehe. Now, I´m gonna change this aspects like the position of the shoulders, chest and legs, and Blaz, agree with you, the prevous oranges clothes works better against background:D
Thanks again, wonderful artists!
10-29-2005, 12:32 PM
Right now I´ve made a quick sketch of the guy. I think it´ll work better:)
And thanks to all of you for opening my mind!:D
10-29-2005, 12:54 PM
you are getting a great work... but I think the guy outfit worked better in orange, but I like those red and white thingies on the arms. keep going ;)
10-29-2005, 04:14 PM
Changing his anatomy and back to his old,second-hand clothes, hehe
10-29-2005, 04:18 PM
And thanks for your words, budji
Obrigado,vizinho! I´m from Galcia:D
10-30-2005, 09:27 PM
hi man! right now it seems too perfect position and the image loose a bit on dynamic. What if u use that fisheye effect on that guy, or put in a position where he's facing the viewer with his body... and bend him a bit. Like he is attached to an invisible curve or something... I hope u understand what am I saying :)
10-31-2005, 12:03 AM
Hi again! I´ve changed....again... the guy. Take 93! hehe I think, with this new figure distortion make the composition more dramatic and dynamic. What do you think? right or..rgiht? hehe, regards!
10-31-2005, 12:06 AM
Oh, also I´ve changed the position of the balloon to increase the power of the invisible distorted diagonal line between the balloon, guy and planes.
And thanks Mr.Porenta!!! As always, wonderful vision and advices of you!
10-31-2005, 10:15 AM
I resize the guy, change some elements to include them in the curve line to make it more....spectacular :-)
10-31-2005, 01:58 PM
small changes but it's looks better for me too.. go on with that guy i wanna see it finish already!
10-31-2005, 03:50 PM
:applause: :applause: :applause:
That's it! I think it looks perfect, the sense of vertigo is stronger than ever.... his right hand looks a bit weird though
a bit waxy character at the moment, but nice idea. Push the contrast to the guy so he really pops out of the page.
11-01-2005, 02:36 AM
I think your latest version of the diver looks maybe a bit too distorted. Both of his hands look strange at this point. I do like the postion of his legs more than the original.
I'm still undecided about the the divers suit color. I would probably try experimenting with some different color schemes. I realize his colors tie in with the colors of the bulls eye.
11-01-2005, 04:18 PM
Well, this is the final position of the guy. I change some aspects and then, I´ll start the final coloring :)
11-01-2005, 04:21 PM
email@example.com (firstname.lastname@example.org): thks!!
aaron111: thanks for your suggestion:)
11-03-2005, 11:32 PM
Hi!Well, let´s start with the final coloring.I´ve added some vapour trails and now I´m changing the texture of some part of the guy clothes to feel the sense of speed. Later I´ll add some hot prints of the planes turbines and things like that. When I finish this things, I´ll add some touches to the hole atmosphere. Thanks for looking and good luck to you all!
11-04-2005, 05:30 AM
only one crit, i think your main character is too dark. i know that its more accurate seeing as the front of his chest is facing away from the sun but i think it takes away from the image to have that giant dark blob right in the center.
just my observation. take it however you like!
11-04-2005, 05:41 AM
What Do You Think He's Saying?
Love The Earth....loOks Well Developed
11-04-2005, 12:24 PM
Well, I´ve added a little grin kitsch cloak :) to increase the feeling of speed and changing the light and texture of the clothes...
11-04-2005, 12:27 PM
Sorry when I said "grin" I wanted to say "green":D
dyren: thanks for your advice!:)
THE CLYKE: I think he´s a bit regretful, lol glad you like it!
11-04-2005, 01:15 PM
damm nice! the man is starting to look good, finish with it already! :buttrock:
11-06-2005, 01:46 AM
Changing the cloak, more vertical like the angle of the ground and the gravity :) and some different touches everywhere. 28 days and counting!!
11-06-2005, 01:29 PM
Heheh thanks email@example.com, I can see the finish line..arf..arf:D
11-06-2005, 03:03 PM
:applause: Looking good Gonzalo...
I really love the perspective / wide angle of the image.
The only thing I would do, would be to add some clouds in the vast expanse of blue sky - just to break it up a little and add a slightly more realistic (rather than graphic) feel to match the land area you have in the image.
Really nice idea
11-07-2005, 11:02 PM
I added some clouds and several vapour trails from another planes to increase the dynamic of the composition. To be continue....
11-07-2005, 11:04 PM
And thanks for your words, advices and thoughts, David:thumbsup:
ok...this image gives me such a feeling of vertigo..getttttinnngggg dizzzzzzzzyyy..f.sfdsa.dada.....#!#!@3122....ok..just landed..and the things round the wrist that give you the feeling of free fall..try to wok more on the cape..it looks a little bit rigid...but the rest is brilliant!!Good luck :bounce:
11-09-2005, 08:25 PM
heheh thanks, Gold ("oro" in spanish:D )Yeah, I´ll make some touches to it, but I wanted to make it like another different texture. Different like the suit:) Glad you like it!
11-10-2005, 06:03 AM
Wow that looks great! The madman's head is brilliant.
Only thing I feel is the arm furthest from the camera is looking a bit strange.
Lost the musculature.
Enjoyed watching this develop. Thanks.
11-10-2005, 02:25 PM
Well, I´ve changed a little bit the target to make it less solid to give the feeling of impact absorption, to make it more real :) Now I´m adding small details that I sohw you when I finish it ok?
11-10-2005, 02:28 PM
thanks for your words, ShichiFukujin.Well, the furthest arm is less flexed and distorted cause of the forced perspective. Anyway, thanks for your support!:)
11-12-2005, 05:21 PM
Nice work gonzalo. It seems I've starting a piece similar to yours.
Your rendering is quite nice. My crit is related to your character. I think you should have used the body of your original character, by that i mean his anatomy. You could also place atmospheric lighting onto the shaded portion of his body. Other than that its quite spectacular.
11-14-2005, 06:58 PM
Thanks for the advice, but I prefer this position cause is in the curve diagonal of the composition rythm
11-14-2005, 07:03 PM
Near the end, I add some clouds and touches here and there. I think the next post will be the final!!:-)
11-17-2005, 05:33 PM
YEAH!!I´ve finished it!!yeepiii!! I´ll put here my explanation of my work. Later I´ll give you thanks to all of you :-D
"“Piiitt!!” is my personal proposal to this Spectacular Challenge. According to the rules my mission was to create an image that “excites and scares at the same time”[...] “something both extraordinary, but WITHIN THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY. A once in a lifetime event”[...] “Be original. Think beyond conventional imagery”.
With those three premises and after several wrong ideas, it came to my mind one idea. Make the most reckless and exciting deed ever done.
Think beyond the term of extreme sport, a human being decides to jump from a balloon without parachute to fall into a huge air mattress which is carried by two planes. An unique and extreme action which at worst it would end with the main character dead.
The spectacular thing of this image lie in a risky, dangerous action but, at the same time, it would be possible to do it in the real life. The fact that it was necessary to have a balloon, planes and the rest of equipment make this hole venture a very expensive matter which increase the spectacular concept. The audience would feel totally overwhelmed and expectant to the development of the event. All the mass media would be expectant. Each individual person will come to his/her own conclusion but one thing is sure. This deed will remain into the people memory forever.
About the emotive and narrative of the elements of the image.
In the beginning I wanted to show the free fall from the balloon point of view, looking at the majestic power of the hole landscape. Then I saw that with this kind of composition should have more power the background than the main character. Furthermore the viewer, ourselves, should be more or less comfortable cause we´d stay into the balloon. This situation would play down spectacular thing to the hole idea. Then I decided to change the camera angle to live in person the emotion of the falling. (You can watch yourselves reflected on the right eye of the strange helmet. A little tribute to the great masters like Van Eyck or Velázquez .:-)
The different takes took myself to the final composition. The main elements of it ( the balloon, the guy and the planes) are in an invisible curve line which ends on the bottom right of the composition. This invisible curve line confers more movement to the image. But, at the same time I wanted to show this movement on a static way, like a high-speed parachuting photography. I think in my work are two different ways that walk together. One way is the spectacular thing of the action and the other one is the “decisive moment” as Cartier-Bresson defined it. To me, this moment means a moment of calm, contemplation, meditation, freedom and enjoy oneself.
The expression of the main character give us to understand that he´s a risky lover. He´s taken his challenge in a very intense way but, at the same time, with an strange security and irony, sticking his tongue out cause he feels watched.
Let´s talking about the suit of the guy. Because of his “occupation” he has to wear a very flashy suit. I thought on a tight leotard like those suit that use the speed skiers for several reasons. First, to increase the twisting of the body and second, cause if the guy was put a baggy suit, the air bag behind his back would confuse with a parachute. (I thought on the movie “Point Break” where Keanu Reeves jumps from the plane without parachute. When his stunt-man is falling on the next take, we can watch that under his shirt, a suspicious “shape” appears. The parachute). To increase the movement I added a cape and a flashy and hairy wristbands and boots.
About the atmosphere of the composition. I choose the central hours of the day, the moment that our blood pressure is higher. The light is stronger and all our senses are alert. On the top part of the work, the atmosphere´s cleaner and colder. The air is more pure. On the other part, the sun reflects the light on the ground, buildings and sea. There´s more contamination.
In short, a very reckless action within the realms of possibility. I will end saying that, please, don´t try this in your homes :-)"
11-17-2005, 05:38 PM
I´d like to show you more details and a cover of my work:D :
and the details:
may you have a lot of luck my friend...this is really spectacular....thumbs up for you

11-17-2005, 06:34 PM
hey, thats really spectacular, i like your style, the image is great and funny:eek:
11-17-2005, 10:26 PM
Great work. His hand seem a bit out of style. They dont have enough contrast to show the same weight and realism that the rest of the image has. Otherwise this is an incredible design with an incredible style. Great perspective and pose as well.
11-18-2005, 03:08 AM
congratulations, and you're welcome :D
11-18-2005, 07:56 AM
Great style and great feel to it. Almost like 40's-50's retro poster with futuristic theme! All the best doode! And youre most welcome!

Oh thanks,Hamid and good luck again with your jumping spider too!:buttrock:
11-21-2005, 11:22 AM
Congratulations on finishing this truly spectacular image! You have captured every aspect of the spectacular theme in my opinion! Great work!
Theres some stuff i cant really get a grip of.. Like the material of his orange suit, i find it unreal and disturbing compared to everything else. :/ This may only be my opinion of course.
Other than that.. I would put this on my wall! ;) Good luck with the judging!
11-21-2005, 12:37 PM
congratulations for finishing it! :bounce:
You're welcome and big thanks to you too!!:applause:
I hope we can continue seeing your work... or just stop by the DSG (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=130) some day....:)
11-21-2005, 05:16 PM
Thanks, FrozZT:) The material of the suit is similar who those who use the speed skiers, but this one is more new and flashy,:D thanks again!
Elmasfeo: muy buenas!Accept the invitation. In fact, i didn´t know that forum. Right now i put a sketch, hehe, and I´m working on a new illustration, that I´ll show it by here:thumbsup:
11-21-2005, 05:34 PM
great work! congrats for finishing it, good luck
11-22-2005, 03:19 AM
I think that you have a very good chance of placing high if not winning...i think you really paid attention to the part of the contest that suggests the image should be "in the realm of possible" or something to that affect...
11-22-2005, 09:24 AM
I hope those pilots are good! ;) Otherwise is going to be a long painful and probably his last dive.
Best of luck.
11-22-2005, 09:37 PM
firstname.lastname@example.org (email@example.com): thanks for your beautiful works to my work:thumbsup:

11-23-2005, 10:44 PM
I see u bring that piece to the end.. it turned out a marvelous piece! I congratulate u :) only thing (always is that only or but or.. hehe) the motion blur of this guy could be a bit more .. well.. blury. hehe.. if u know what do I mean. His hands and feet seems to have some sort of small threads. Other than that great dynamic and nice suite design. I wish u all the best of luck for the finals! :D cya
11-23-2005, 11:08 PM
Thanks Blaz, well, the image has no motion blur. It´s because the boots and wristbands have hairs:D to make the guy suit super-flashy! hehe. Thanks for your words throughout this challenge, a warm regard and good luck to you too!
11-28-2005, 03:10 AM
Congratulations on finishing your piece. There's not much I can say that hasnt been said already... youre choice of concept for the spectacular theme is excellent and your image came out great. I specifically like the detail on the earth below and the light reflecting off the water. Great work and good luck! - Joel
11-29-2005, 12:39 AM
THANKS so much, Joel, good luck with your big octopus too, a great image:thumbsup:

11-29-2005, 09:44 PM
I have enjoyed your fish-eye perspective from day one and can safely say that you have most spectacularly captured a 'sense of height' in this challenge.
11-30-2005, 03:07 PM
THANKS so much,Ben:thumbsup: hehe.Warm regards!
12-01-2005, 06:21 AM
You did a good job Gonzalo! Very creative concept!
12-01-2005, 02:37 PM
Gracias Jose!:D I spent a long, funny time with this piece:wip:
12-03-2005, 09:40 AM
Hi Gonzalo, Your image gives me he creeps! I used to skydive a few years back, the first year it was all fun but slowly this fear got over me so had to give it up.
This image really capture the feeling of freefalling. It can be wonderful or scary as hell.
You did a really good job with this. Interesting story and skillful rendered.
12-04-2005, 07:42 AM
congrats dude you've made it
love the originality of you image, very nicely done :bounce: :bounce:
great work
12-04-2005, 06:27 PM

Congratulations on finishing the challenge! Your image is definitely a standout and one of the most memorable for me in the challenge. I remember it being at the very top of the thread pages throughout most of the challenge and that makes perfect sense considering how much work you put into it! Great style and awesome work. Best wishes:thumbsup: - J
