does the ledge move? if not, then as long as your arms are ik.. it shouldn't be a problem.
If they're fk, then you're gonna need to make 'em ik. :)
if the ledge moves when he lands on it.. you may want to go to the frame where he lands, and create a locator for the hands which is a child of the ledge. Then point& orient constrain the ikHandles to the locators at that frame.. animate the ledge as you want.. then when it's time to let go, animate the constraints off. However, you'll need something else to animate them to..
what's your rig like?

Hey
Ive done a lot of characters before with FK arms, never had a need for the IK arms until now
and im just struggling to figure out the whole deal , I get flipidge or the hands dont lock into position
I must be screwing up someplace ,
as for the ledge it doesnt move , I just wanted to do an aniamtion where i can use IK arms to learn the whole setup
If you could point me at a tutorial or something for setting up IK arms thatd be great, I get the whole idea , but i must be doing something wrong .
Thanks
