I hope no one else has a concept similar to this since I didn't browse through all entries so far. Anyway, my idea is of an image of a crashed plane in the sea that divers arrives to. Inside the plane are frightened people that pleads to the divers to help them. I hope to convey a feeling of despair and helplessness with this one. The sketch isn't very close to the image I have in mind but it gives some idea. The composition of the final image will be pretty different.

A rough start on the plane. Trying to find a composition that works so I only have to detail the plane where it's needed. I threw some ultra low-poly chairs in there for the light to interact with on my upcoming test render. The ground is only a placeholder.

Trying out some composition and couldn't resist adding lights. Some post work in photoshop to give me a clue as to how I'll make it look like a under water scene in the end.

When I was done with this image I viewed it on my crappy laptop and it looked like crap. I hope it doesn't look like crap on your monitors.

Interesting and frightening concept. Make sure to create an appealing background. Maybe some interesting fish swimming by, bubbles slowly leaking out of the windows of the plane, the remains of an engine fire smoldering still even under the water, interesting coral, etc.

Goodluck!

I like the underwater effects. Should be cool when finished.

It is going to be very difficult to get enough contrast in this image... The neat thing about being deep under water like this is that where ever your light shines you have color, everywhere else Dark Blue/Green or Black... I am wondering how you will enable us, the viewer, to see the frightened faces of the passengers?

I really like the concept and will watch to see how you pull it all together!

Thanks all for the comments!

Nichod - Yeah, I'll try to incorporate all of what one should expect to see under water. It'll be a challenge for sure. My biggest concern right now is to get a sea floor that'll look realistic.

HammaJamma - I hope that when I get some textures in there a lot of contrast will come from that. The faces will be a trial and error kinda thing to play with when I try to figure out my final composition. Hopefully it'll read well in the end.

My real name is Jan Carl Gustaf Andersson and my mothers maiden name is Wahlqvist so that's why I call myself CarlWahl. So, sorry, we're probably not related. I've thought about changing my name to Carl Wahlqvist though. Has a better ring to it than Jan Andersson. =)

Mwaahaahaa!

That aside, good looking concept renders. Neat to see a submerged airplane too :D

Definately one of my favorites. I love the look and feel. Very moody. Kind of a trade off because you want to see what's in the windows but you loose the feel and composition if you get too close. Thankfully it's a high res contest so a lot of the fine details will be visible.

Great start.

man I know it is still a WIP but I love your tests. I think the atmosphere is great and the sense of deep too.

Congrats
