yes indeed, I am in, again:) I am playing with some idea about aerial stunts, perhaps skydiving or something like that.... Let's see if I can do this!

Sorry for the poor quality sketch, just wanted to make sure nobody else steals this:) The idea is to portrait a base jumper in his critical, but enjoyable moment... The city background is a challenge, I might still change it to something else.

I started to model the shirt of the jumper, added also some displacement to it because of the high winds. I wish I had Zbrush, but I guess I have to this the old school way!
BTW, I thought I'd change the perspective more towards sky (less work:)

you should consider the winddirection. the shirt will probably be much more drawn or blown in the opposite direction he`s falling.
but maybe his jumping gear is preventing the shirt from doing so. i don`t know, just a thougt :)

Yes, actually I will place the camera below the jumper. I made the current turbulence on the shirt based on that thought.

I am at work waiting to get home so that I can develop my jumper further! I'll probably do the pants next, then the parachute and then the head and arms. Cant wait! I am lucky that nobody else selected this same subject, at least so far!

This is the correct the angle, at least for now. I might change the background to a bridge, who knows. I've got time still!

This is a very cool image so far. My crit right off the bat though is that the anatomy of this arm is WAY off. His shoulder ends and the bicep is where? You've got like a shoulder-bicep thing going on. I'd look into some photo references of arm muscles. Besides that though, I like the pose and the angle of the camera. The building looks cool too.

Thanks for the crit! yes, there is something wrong with the upper arm, I will fix the bicep separation problem soon:) The building is just for reference, it might be something totally different in the end.

Back on the model again, I started refining the model a bit more. The head is going to be crucial with all the expressions and all. I've got some stage freight to move to that phase:)

I am a bit behind schedule due to other hurries. But here is a little update, the jumper is staring to take form!

I am still pondering about the background, should it be a building, bridge, antenna or perhaps a cliff. That is yet to be defined. Anyway the key focus here is on the jumper himself and the feeling of the rush that he gets. So, the expression should portray that. The textures will play an important part and the clothes. BTW, the hair is polygon hair, I might change it to red:)

I finally got the shoes to the guy. they have a lot of detail, laces and all, but not really visible in the pic. But least was a good practice:)

Started the main rock tower from which the character leaps. It needs some background cliffs too and some twigs. The texture is so far all procedurals, my favourites.

I am way behind, as my computer was being repaired. Anyway, I started modeling the rock and put a quick procedural texture to it. here is a sort of general look of the image. the current perspective doesnt work, so I'll do some changes to make the guy appear falling.

but why have yyou changed your idea to a cliff in the background? i liked the scyscraper much more, and i thinl it is much more spectacular.
but anyway, i think the angle should be much steeper (<- right word?)
just a few thoughts....
keep going, not much time left :)

Got the the background to a decent level, next working on the main jumper. The other guy is just a quick low poly jumper.

I started the jumpers texturing. I'll next unwrap the head and arms for UV-texturing.

Just testing with the composition and playing with the lighting. There is stillmuch work with the jumper, he still has flaws:)

I removed the other jumper from the background as somehow he didnt fit to the pic. Next I'll do some tweaking: parachutes details, jumpers pants, skin, goggles, parachute straps (now appear to go through his shirt), etc. Then I guess I'll try to do some tests with HDRI renders on the jumper.
