God, where to begin!?!?! Way to many ideas, I'm glad there are 90 days... and yet I know they won't be enought. But I'm going to finish this time, good luck to everyone.

I have too many ideas. But I think I have narrowed it.

1. A human child plays with an alien child that is behind glass as military and scientist walk around. Were at war with the aliens, but are they really that bad?

2. A skateborder exectuters a difficult ariel move that requires him to be upside down, as he rotates his body a humming bird looks him in the eye.

3. A photo of an ape subspecies that has discovered fire and tools.

Any suggestions on which of these would capture your attention? I would appreciate any comments, thanks.

Ok, I've decided to go with the skateboarder and the humming bird. God this is going to be a tough one. Not a very normal position for a human being to be in. I think I'll have to model him and then create a rig. But first I'll have to make a sketch!!

Ok, this is my concept. Didn't really have time to draw it out so i just got some images off the net. Hope thats ok

Overcontras: Thanks man. I'm sure I sounded like a whiny b**ch. Had bad moment of doubt there.

Cool idea man. Your concept doesn't suck at all; it's just a bit hard to tell what's going on in the picture is all. I understand what's going now thanks to your post which explained your ideas. One thing I'd definitely recommend is that you use a less distorted picture of the skateboarder. That one is too pixilated to tell what's going on. Other than that, good luck mate.

Yeah I know the skater is bad. It was the only one I could find in the proper pose but it was tiny!! Hopefully I'll find time to do a proper sketch. But right now I'm worried about modeling because.... I've never modeled a person before!! ::laughs:: Thankfully we have 90 days.

Ok, so Iím sleep deprived. Last night I started creating my first head. I had read some tutorials earlier in the day and decided on using the box technique; I've already used it before on birds, spaceships, trees, basic shapes. So in I go and the next thing I know its 3 a.m. and I have to be at work by 7!!! But I think I did ok. I'll post some WIP shots at lunch. Hopefully I can get some crits ::hint hint:: because I'm sure I need them. It is amazing though how edge loops makes your life so much easier. I also spent a lot of time with topomaps when I was younger, and I think that helped a little. The topology of a human face is a lot like a landscape in some ways.... might be a good project. Anyone else out there staying up to late already? Can't imagine what things are going to be like when the deadline get's close.

This is my first head ever. Not as hard as I though it would be. Maybe I can finish.

I know what you mean about the late nights. I was up till 5 last night drawing up some concepts...was fun though. So far so good and incase you need a tutorial about modeling a human; I'd defiantly recommend Michael Roger's modeling of Joan of Arc. When I was first starting off, that tutorial was my bible. I really can't critique your head right now since we really can't see much of it...yet. When you get to the nose part, then we'll have ample supply of critiques for ya. Anyways, keep us posted mate. See ya around.

Ok, I've added a little more detail and cleaning and did a sbdivision test. Looks ok. Ive only worked on it for few hours. And a lot of that was learning. Now that I have a better idea I can start to really refine it. And suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks el_newty. You know there are a lot of big fish in this pond. Sometimes I think the tadpoles get overlooked!! I think this challenge will be different. The push for community over the last few challenges has really helped.

The head that I was working on is going to become a generic head for the crowd. I started another one today, my second head ever and it was exciting!!! In about two hours I shaped it and add at least twice as much detail as the first one. Tommorow I'll try to do some tweaking and then I'll post.
I've also been thinking about the body. It doesn't really need to be very detailed since skaters wear such baggy clothes so I'm just going to try a lo- res model, except for the hands and forearms. As for the legs and feet they will be very low poly. Does any one know of problems this will cause when adding clothes?
