Thanks guys, I can feel the love. Good luck to you guys too. Should be fun.

Well I havent really decided on a final concept. But my idea involves space, comets, and other sky falling objects that may lead to catastrophy. The main idea is to show the beauty but the wrath that comes with un forseen natural causes. The setting is pretty far in the future. The city is pretty desolate and abandon. The 2 characters where the idea of those type of astronomers, UFO watchers type. There is a serious setting to the scene, but dark and a lil dingy.

So thats all I got, getting this process going.

So I did a 2nd concept. Sticking with something more on the unfortunate accident event. This sketch has 2 characters barreling through objects, miraculously surviving then crashing into a stack of cages with rodents. It's a lil imaginative and tougher, but it is a challenge. My emphasis would be on the action taking place, and the civilians in back drop wondering of this spectacle of stupidity.

Cheers

Nice sketch. I can't really decide between the two; one is spectacular in the action packed way, and the other in a comical way. Both can be equally as good if you compose it right. Have you ever thought about doing the 2d challenges?

Drawing is too much work for me Ace, I get lazy to quickly if I'm not able to move an object on its axis.:D

Going to sleep on the idea...I'm not even sure atm myself on which concept to choose. Both has its quality, i would go for a serious side, but I like to add humor, but also excitment. Not sure...gotta think about it.

I know the feeling. You always find yourself saying "if I could rotate this a little... I have to scale up the head..." In the end I just give it a s* and leave it like that :p

I'd say go with concept #1. Your second idea while a good concept and definetly would make a great scene doesn't seem very "spectacular" compared to the events taking place in the first idea. Of course its up to you, both would make good scenes. Goodluck!

LoL I know. I just got no patience for it, especially digitally, I draw/paint by hand. Easier.

Not really death, it's not like its the end of the world. Or is it? Thats the question are characters are trying to figure out.:D

Of the first concept... It has more "concern" by the part of the viewer. The second one while fun, really lacks that "Spectacular" nature... Although the sketch and Idea are awesome, for both I would definately go with the first...

nice drawings, i kinda like the 2nd drawing cause i feel there is more action, but that's just me, i like action. Anyway, good luck on continuing on the 1st concept, hope to see more later.

I came up with some 3d concepts, an Idea of the view, angle, and positions of the characters. I got nothing else really to say, but I would like toget the theme going and get down to some real modeling.

Hey there Jacques. To tell the truth I am still more inclined to the first one. This one is cool but they look like they're watching some kind of spectacle instead of some mass destruction.

Just my two cents :)

and if this wasn't a destruction but a construction? Lol

I'm agree the first sketch is really cool and I like it a lot, mostly becasue they are hand sketches drawing probably. In last concept the camera and view is very interesting... will watch with interest your progress. Good luck :wip:

Sorry, but you should explain better.

JacquesPena
10-02-2005, 08:24 PM
Looks like I confused you guys by posting just images that were just 3d experiment with angles and character postion like i stated in the last post. Next time I will put a warning.

Overall I'm not liking this idea of destruction, and after really thinking about it, kinda reminds me of the idea behind my GSO image. As if I get enough ideas regards with destruction, I wouldnt want to relate it esepcially with all the bull sh*t happening around the world. So I going try to think a lil bit nicer for a change of pace. So I'm going an alternative route and begin again.

I will stay with the sci-fi theme, but add more fantasy to it and break away from my norm. routine. Also mixing more of an artistic/abstract style in terms of character design and meaning. Mostly spiritual and religious in this case.

So in other words.. Nixing the Destruction Idea.

So forget what you know...

I'm calling this new concept image "Paradise"
The story can be considered in terms of banishment, the idea is what is visualized through our eyes, be it reality or imagination. It can be followed to even the idea of banishment from heaven, or possibly a very scary dream of personal imprisonment with a sense of spirituality. I'll leave the user to decide what they feel they see. The characters design will be follwed with a sketch before introduction. The characters are the essence of male and female, with none of there eyes to be revealed, but there lips to show they are human. There is slight imagery of pain and torture in there expressions.

Alot can be said about interpertation, but I'll describe as I go with modeling. This is a new idea for me artistically, unlike the usual technical, and a seperation from the norm.

nemirc
10-06-2005, 05:56 AM
I was actually thinking on something like that for a short film... but I was going to focus only on the "not so nice" side. The idea was that we would have this hell on the real world but that was actually caused by our state of mind... In the end I just dropped the idea :D

Only 59 days left so you better hurry

So thats it for concepts, stories, and ideas. I began modeling due too some open free time. I began modeling the 1st of many styles of characters. Each are highly stylized, so I'm taking my time on each one.

Now that I continue my challenge without error, I will begin posting my challenege progress on a day by day basis. So I added more finishes to one of the characters head portion. I built and textured a good female body, which will soon have a similar look like the head design. Some of the body design will be half Mapped and half modeled with detail. On my next post, I will show that.

Well the shaders are simple noise bumps with a fresnel as a Illumination. The specualr is pretty spread apart to effect the bump. Notin special.
