Wow, very nice and fun. Tell me though did you actually do the grass and if so with just PS. Tell me how I love it.

Yeah... that's all photoshop. I used the blur plug-in.

The grass was done using a custom made brush.

This image was painted at a much higher res and then reduced to 1024x(whatever)

I'm highly impressed on that brush you used for the grass. ANy chance of some tips, clues, TUTORIAL, on how the brush was made?

it's a brush that comes with Photoshop 7

I did a mixture of painting a small section of grass then you use the clone brush and fill in the rest of the grassy area. Then paint over the ugly parts. Add some subtle weeds and tall grass. I also use the blur brush to smooth the look. Then use the burn tool and dodge tools for highlights and shadows. I also use layers of dark green or black to create some of the larger shadows.

It's a mixture of techniques... some I picked up from Bob Ross, others from Don Sigmiller and some from Bobo the Seal.

I guess the grass is too busy because most people are looking at the grass more then the character. So... maybe I need to add something. Plus the image is rather static.

That's really nice.

But he needs a flanel. All rednecks wear flanel. <shudders>

Great work, and I especially love the background.

Omita, thanks for the info on the brush. I found the one I believe you used and after playing with it I love it. In fact I think I'm going to try to make a simular one but modify it just a bit so I can use it for carpets.
But beyond the bruch you really spiced it up with all of your little additions. Kudoos to the tremendous detail work you did on it.
