As few other artists have posted, this is my first time entering this contest and i have been waiting for a while for it.
I'm not shure what i am supposed to post here and when so if anyone has any kind of tips, please let me know.
As for the others i want to wish good luck and all the best.

Since yesterday when the contest started i had some ideas and kame up with this one.
Don't really think it's how exactly the final image will look like :). Basicly done it not to forget the main idea.

Looking good! This is my first challenge too. Just keep posting your ideas and keep sketching until you are really happy with a final idea to progress on.

My idea was to show this bridge as a ling of humanity and team work. The story is in the future where after wars and terrible disasters the cities and technologies that have been created are vanished and the only thing that remains are the enormous cities and monuments that people have left behind. In this scene the main center of attention is the place where the bridge is being renovated and people are working as a team to achieve this with primitive and what is left of modern tools. Something Between Mad Max and Planet of the apes. The emotions and the atmosphere is (as i imagine it) in the center where the river is closed by a damb and people are working together on this magnificent and enormouse bridge that is at the far end going directly to a city.
I kinda have this from the many films that have this element of primitive future so the idea of something with so mutch energy just kinda popped out. Also inspired by paintings of some exeptional artists in art galleries with the topic of markets from the past with colourful people and items just filling the canavas with enthousiasm.
I hope i will manage to make this idea the way i have it in my head.

First model of the terrain just to get the basic parts into place. I've done some mapping to it but since it's going to change a bit to match the other parts of the image i'll have to retexture it anyway. Mostly have been doing displacement maps and reading reference of things i need to know.

This is a column that holds the bridge that is going to be part of this composition. Had allot of reference from bridges and this is what i came up with.
Later changes will be made to match other parts of the image but for now i think it's quite enough.

impressive amount of detail on the bridge! for the terrain, did you use a displacement map? or is it modelled?

the terrain is modeled (not to the end so far) since i will have to add details on top of that. So displacement wouldn't do much good cause i would have less control over it :)

Here i have connected the 2 parts and thought of a connection. After this is done the rest of the bridge is quite straight forward. It's only a small part of the whole image and that's nothing but just a symbol so i won't spend much time on it and continue to other details and constructions.

The bridge is finished from modeling. Changes will be made ofcourse after the whole scene is complete. I'll have to breake it a bit to look older and fixable. But here are the shots of it :)

You have an interesting concept , and your models so far look very unique and detailed.:thumbsup: You have done a great job on the modeling so far. Look forward to more.
On a side not , for my Spectacular entry I am not doing the plane crashing like you mentioned in your post there, I changed my concept of the f14 emergency landing .

I started working on the dam this week. Still haven't used any other software than Max. Modeled the basic ground of the dam and will be adding detail all week long.

Modeled the craine. It's part of the scene so i added some detail to it. I'm using Xref files so i could edit anything at any time seperately cause the scene is getting larger and larger and i'm kinda making everything by the book not to get lost. Rigged the main mechanical parts of the craine. Soon starting the organical part of the scene :)

Started compositing and gathering the litle peices of the pazzle to create the final shot.
Stil working on the details but soon will start the mapping and lighting.
