OK so i 'll post some ideas i had last night, so this is just my first try ;-).

My Colorsketch, Complementary to bring some dynamic into this image, including the calm city and a couple, and in contrast the exploding volcano -> the "end" of the calmness.

And finally, my composition, my favourite composition ;-), the pentagramm, showing the beauty of this "shocking" event and the triangle leading the eye from the couple into the painting throw the city to the volcano.
