This sketch is great. It makes you wonder why the guy had to turn the boat upsidedown to paddle on it. Would a boat float like that anyway when its upside down? =o

well, some might think it is intriguing, but as long as you do not create an image that worships the flood as a great thing but show the misery of the situation it will be ok. would love to the a colour sketch :) keep it up

Stylewise I cannot say anything that you need to improve and the concept sounds solid to me. Maybe Boost that Spectacular thing with some "Kaboomites"* :D

Thanks, Beelow.
If I have correctly understood the task of competition, it would be necessary to draw a stage which caused in the spectator impression spectacular, instead of to draw as characters of a picture experience this impression. It in fact different things and they not always coincide.
For me spectacular there are stages which provoke the spectator to test strong feelings, for example fear, passion, disgust, pity, reverential trembling or strong surprise. I just wish to cause surprise by the fact of eating of the moon in the spectator. It is difficult to me to judge, it or not as I draw this stage two weeks turns out, and it for me not the news, therefore at me any more does not cause any feelings. I to it have got used. I have not considered that surprise long time, with all listed feelings, probably, is least capable to operate. As to be surprised it is possible only first time having looked on a picture. Disgust and horror is longly capable to operate, but it by I shall not go...

I'm with everyone else, this is a great and original concept! The colours really lend themselves to the subject, and the way he's hanging from the curtains is priceless... As for the biting the sun... at first I didn't realisee that's what was happening, as it looks like the sun is hidden behind clouds rather than having a chunk missing... but you may well be sorting that. Other than that, i think it's wonderful, the heat coming out of his mouth and nose is brilliant! Best of luck with this sergey

I like the direction you are headed. I like how you are trying to provoke the more difficult aspect of spectacular. I encourage you to continue play around with your subtle ideas and really trap the viewers attention into your image. And just watch out for anatomy issues on the figure, I know it's still early stage but you should make sure those kind of minor problem doesn't affect your whole image.

Really like your concept, and your lines are very nice to look at. This last close up looks super promising, cant wait to see the rest of it painted up! Shame you could not find a way to show he was biting a chunk out of the moon, because i think i preferred that concept to the sun. But still, very good mate! i'll be coming back to check this out later. Good luck.

There is such English verse:

Robin, Robin, what a man!

He eats as much as no one can.

He ate a lot of fish, he ate a lot of meat.

He ate a lot of ice-cream and a sweet.

He ate a lot of porridge and ten eggs

And all the cookies Mother had.

He drank a lot of juice, he ate a cake

Then said: " I have a stomach-ache "

There is such variant (too English):

Robin the Bobbin, the big-bellied Ben,

He ate more meat than fourscore men;

He ate a cow, he ate a calf,

He ate a butcher and a half,

He ate a church, he ate a steeple,

He ate the priest and all the people!

I have illustrated the culmination of the third variant in which this eternally hungry monster eats the sun

Q: will you work out the surroundings outside the window?

sirBS
11-03-2005, 07:04 PM
Alexander, as a whole I with you agrees. Not absolutely only has understood that you meant when have told that the curtain merges with the sun. In area of the sun the curtain is lit... The powerful luminescence of the sun blocks edge of a curtain - so happens, it is visual illusion connected with a powerful light source. I shall make this effect more convincing... good lukc !

Sergio, we with you almost namesakes! :)
I am glad that now was pleasant to you!

Lew, I still shall work much above all picture. On my work while there are no completed pieces.

Jose , this madman - eternally hungry maniac. He is very dangerous violent madman. His name is Robin Bobbin.I already wrote...

There is such English verse:

Robin, Robin, what a man!

He ate a lot of ice-cream and a sweet.

He ate a lot of porridge and ten eggs

 Hi Sergey

I love this picture for it's simplicity (in terms of composition) and richness in colour. The colours are so soft and very rich and yet maddening - and the work on the figure is great - such a diffricult pose to create, but it works so well and you really feel he's pushing against the wall and hanging onto the curtains.

My only comment would be, that it's not immediately obvious that he's eating the sun. Whether you can show more of a trail from the sun to his mouth, but keep it subtle - i'm not sure, but whatever, this is truly spectacular. I love the lighting of his mouth (which does look like he is eating the sun) and expression. It's good to see a piece where the character really fits with the idea and a lot of effort has gone into this.

Great work :)

This has always struck me as one of the most original ideas in the challenge, and its execution is amazing Sergey! You've amanged to capture such a feeling of intense heat not only from the lighting but in the guy's mouth too, which is almost beyond comprehension! I love the colour palette, I've always been attracted to pictures with a great sense of warmth, and the blues, greens and purples on the outside edge are a nifty touch to really make the colours pop. Great piece, best of luck in the judging.
