I found this amazing site too late for the last challenge - I have been waiting for this since...

Good luck everyone!!

MIKE

EDIT: My initial thoughts on this are that photo-journalists tend to get the most spectacular/iconic images, sometimes even members of the public manage them at moments of great historic significance....

Just thinking out loud everyone, dont mind me, lol!

2ND EDIT: WATER SPEED RECORD

Inspiration: Donald Campbell's fatal attempt to break the water speed record (already owned by himself,) on Coniston Water, Lake district, England in 1967. His craft - The Bluebird, flipped over at 300mph and sank into the depths. His body was never recovered... The Bluebird was in 2003.

The Concept: Fast forward to post Millennium. Another English craft attempts to break the magical 1000mph barrier on water in the harbour of a future city. The world watches and waits, as the engines gun for the crafts final run...

RebeccaK - Cheers for the support, Martians you say.... hmmmmm..... interesting..... :D

Andyonahill - If I eat one of those Equador Chocolates, then I might not be able to see for the rest of the challenge! Thats no use to anyone... but a bloody good excuse! LOL!

Cheers for the support guys

MIKE (In therapy for contemplating eating an Equador Chocolate to boost performance.)

Here are some super rough thumbnails to get me thinking about composition, and some really basic line drawing profiles of possible aircraft/watercraft for the scene.

Hmm, looks like 'Good' Mike has been busy with work while 'Bad' Mike has been busy spamming me and calling me 'fat', ROFL!!! Hahahahahaha, I couldn't resist that one Mickey D ~ oh crap! It's true! *snarfs tears of laughter* :scream:

Hey, I really like that first sketch the best ~ so many people are doing cityscapes, it's cooler if you design your own building instead of a kind of 'wow, vast cityscape' kind of effect. Is the spacecraft bearing chocolate supplies for sardonic Challenge entrants? And fries? We likes fries. :D

I definitely like the second two craft designs better than the first, which was looking a bit like a 'Snoopy Craft', lol! :D

Good to see you busy Mr. D.rol! *Please please please let the future Mrs. D.rol come home soon so 'Good' Mike will be on active duty!!* :scream:

Cheers! ;)

ROFL, in the U.S., it's McDonald's surprise...wot's in the box of fries? Fries, wheee!!! :scream:

'Course, that's not really not 'Kinder' surprise so much as 'Kinder', 'Teen', 'Young Adult', 'Middle Age', and 'Geriatric' Surprise...:D

:scream:

Hi Korline

Thx for the kind words... better than "her above," (shakes cane at RebeccaK.) I put this passage below at the beginning of my thread in an edit, but for everyones benefit heres the idea - I hope you like it:

WATER SPEED RECORD

Inspiration: Donald Campbell's fatal attempt to break the water speed record (already owned by himself,) on Coniston Water, Lake district, England in 1967. His craft - The Bluebird, flipped over at 300mph and sank into the depths. His body was never recovered... The Bluebird was in 2003.

The Concept: Fast forward to post Millennium. Another English craft attempts to break the magical 1000mph barrier on water in the harbour of a future city. The world watches and waits, as the engines gun for the crafts final history making run...

...So thats it in a nutshell, it is subject to change but i'm running with it for the time being.

Cheers

MIKE

More ideas on the vehicles to populate my scene. Still just in the early stages and these are just "thoughts out loud" really. Just showing you guys I am not slacking!

@Ducklator - Thanks for the motivation. I really need to start pinning these down a bit. I think I'll need to do a lot more concepting yet before I find things I'm happy with though - lucky that time is on my side just now.... I think. :D

@'BeccaK - My Illustrator curves (and Maya ones for that matter) were fine before you turned up and filled my mind with crazy alternatives! LOL! *Just kiddin' RK - your help was great as always. ;) *
