TheFirstAngel 10-28-2005, 09:00 AM fantastic work dave!
Only thing atm, maybe its only the perspective but the girl makes the truck look a bit small or she's rather tall. her pose, with those highheels and only 2 contact points, her place up there looks like being of a quiet fragile stabilety.
keep up the great work, looking forward to see your next update.

the charactrer is lookin awesome! but in my mind,i dont like that truck, cuz, they are of two different styles(the woman and the truck)so i dont expect to see both in a scene! by the way,it really looks coool!

Sonic-X, (She's going to scratch that beautiful chrome and paint job on the rig)
Haha, quite possibly but I think the shoes suit her style - sneakers will make her look too much like a KillBill rip off! Cheers dude
makaron,
but a rubbersuIt and fire and explosions, arnīt she gonna melt then?...
Yeah, you wish! :) Sadly she'll have made her escape before any melting happens.
sergioKomic, yeah that leg was rubbish but i've sorted it out quite lot in the latest post. Cheers man - and yes you must stop wanting to 'bone' her...!
killerlord257, thank you very much.
DJ_Fleury, yep a scarey amount of work still to do. But enough time... just. Cheers man.
Lemog, cheers dude.
melkao, thanks man
hindus,
background shouldnt be so blur and need some face expresion on character
I've got plans for both.
SNoWs, yep that lighting would look strange if you didn't know ther was a huge explosion going on back there (actuual explosion still to be added, just a lighting test at the moment).
And quite possibly she will be zombie fodder. I guess it's down to the veiwer to interpet their own outcome. With the addition of the rope and the helicopter (refelcted) it should give her at least a 50/50 chance of survival... Cheers man.
madshooter, thanks mate.
hindus, give us a chance!
the1st_angel,
maybe its only the perspective but the girl makes the truck look a bit small or she's rather tall
Now this is true. She is in fact the correct scale against the truck, it is, as you thought, the perspective that's making her look bigger - at the end of the day this image is more about her and her predicament than the truck and who's climbing on it so I think that'll stay as it is.
As for the shoes, a few people have commented on these but I'm quite happy with them. I'm planning to adapt the truck a bit so that she has a decent foothold for her right foot too - this, along with her hand grabbing the grill should give her just enough stability. Cheers man.
Madlight_1988,
but in my mind,i dont like that truck, cuz, they are of two different styles(the woman and the truck)so i dont expect to see both in a scene!
well... yeah... I kinda see your point. But there's no way i'm removing either now so I guess we're all stuck with it  Perhaps she'll gel a bit better with the truck once all the other details gone in (hair, zombies, helicopter, expolsion, etc...) Cheers dude.
gpepper, I did think about experimenting with dof but it's a slow, slow porcess in Brazil so it's probably out unless I render a few layers and frig it in photoshop. I'm not overly happy with the motion blur myself atm, I might compleely change the whole background even. Thanks man.

There was no point getting carried away with this model for three reasons.
Firstly it won't even been seen directly (only reflected), secondly the windsceen of the truck is curved so the subesequent reflection is distorted and thirdly because I really couldn't be arsed! :)

Zapan, thanks very much, that's quite a compliment. Cheers dude.
shakes, some like the chrome, some don't. I think it might get a slight battering bafore i'm totally happy but it's pretty far down a very long list right now. Thanks man.
makaron, you know, I never thought of that but I see what you mean  . The face has currently got the 'default' expression i modelled her with, i've only moved the eyes. Eventually I want her to have a slightly more furrowed brow, maybe more squinted on the side of the explosion. Something like that. Cheers man.
madshooter, yep only reflected so no need to go to town. Should get it in the scene along with a rope ladder for her soon. Cheers.

seems to me a very nice chopper, just for use of reflection :)
is it a zombie that gonna fly it... :p

Here you can see the helicopter reflected in the trucks windscreen. I've also added the rope ladder - which has worked pretty well first time out, although i'll add a bit of noise/waveyness to the ropey bits.
The lighting is looking different as i turned off the secondary lighting to save time and experimented with hard shadows from the key light. I also couldn't resist trying out a bit of lens flare. The hard shoadows will stay in for now, the lens flare will probably not.

makaron,
is it a zombie that gonna fly it...
haha, you're obsessed! No zombies flying the helicopter i'm afraid. But there will be others soon I promise :)
agou,
it's a quite big job just for a detail, isn't it?
Well i wasn't sure if it was detailed enough to be honest - that's why I made it black, hehe. I'm trying to ensure that this thing holds up to close inspection at the full res of 2567x3636 (or whatever it is). Cheers man.
gpepper,
I think it is better to render with zdepth and then adding a focal blur in photoshop... That works fine !
Good point. Cheers dude.
coochaki,
i thing the mirror of helicopter isn't mach on your scene
Hopefully when I get all the other objects back in, plus the zombies, plus the explosion there'll be plenty to distract the eye and the reflection will be just another detail and i'll get waway with it. Cheers.
SONIC-X, cheers man.
madshooter,
My small suggestion is just reduce the intensity of reflection, take it down a bit and little blurred, might look more cool:)
A good point. I think i might even have something subtle going on in the cab - nothing to detailed just the hint of a driver or something, this might take some of the emphasis off the choppers refelction. Ultimately i'd like it to be subtle detail that people only notice when they really study the image, so some blur is probably a very good start. Cheers dude.
shakes,
haha-it's crazy attention to detail...but I love that obsessiveness!!
Haha. Yeah possibly a bit obsessive but i love the idea that initially you see the action but as you study the image you are able to unravel a whole story as to why she's there and how she will escape.
Madlight_1988,
will there be any other events,to explain why she is standing right there, and there's a helicopter or something?
Yes there will be. I'm definately going to give her a gun, or at least one she's just dropped - an 'Uzi 9mm' (try saying that without doing an Arnie imprssion - impossible! :) It'll be smoking to suggest it's just been used and the zombies will loook suitably roughed up so we'll know they've been in a fight.
Also I have had thoughts of adding in (possibly around her neck) two philes - one containng a red liquid, one containing green - the stereotypical venom and anti-serum. This could be hugely suggestive of why the zombies are after her.
I did toy with the idea for a time of having a convenient newpspaper blowing past with something like 'deadly virus hits city' or something like that on it. Maybe i'll still go with it but make it a bit more subtle - i don't want to 'babysit' the viewer too much, it's good to leave something to the imagination I guess... Cheers man.

Ok, I left this one going whilst i was at work today, it took about 4 1/2 hours.
It's good to see the scene with the rope ladder and chopper in, although that key light might be bit bright.
I also gave hera slight grin and furrowed brow but this hasn't really been too successfull - definately needs a bit of tweaking.
I've also played with the camera angle and it's looking loads more dynamic now.
I know, still no zombies to be seen - there next on my list :)

Nice update Dave, only prob I have is that the uzi is falling in a dark spot, if you had a lightsource there it might "popup" more.
(or if the truck in that spot had a lighter reflection "cheat")

Great modelling there, swamps.
Only one crit: I think her pose isnīt dynamic enough. It looks more like sheīs a model on the front of the Truck rather than that sheīs escaping. Iīd suggest to bend her more forward and get her arms nearer to the ladder.

Agreed. In fact I think it'll go into her hand once I tweak the whole composition. Cheers man.

I'll be changing it - a lot. It's defiantely not working as it is. Cheers.

I've had this a lot and I am in total agreement. I had been reluctant to change it becasue id collapsed the mesh and tweaked some of the joints but I will be going back to the skinned version of her and repositioning her. Cheers for your post.

Hi guys,
Apologies for the lack of recent updates. I've pretty much done all the modeling now - it's now 'just' a case of getting the composition, posing and expressions right. I've decided to have a few days off and come back next week and look at this thing from a fresh point of view.

This is looking great. Some things I noticed that you might want to change or fix are: The truck shadow seems to be a bit blocky. Or it could be a shadow from the chopper. I dont know its the one under the truck tank. The chrome parts of the truck may be a bit too shiny and clean. Your choice of course. Also it would be sweet to see just a speck of motion blur on the rope ladder, the gun and the buildings in the background.
I don't think the key light is too bright. You should post various facial expressions for the girl so we can check em' out. I'd like to see her really anxious about what she's about to do.
This is looking so sweet. This scene is rockin.:buttrock:

Yep, send in the squirrels, I blew it! :)
With hindsite I think I just took on too much for this project. That and some paid freelance work in the last month was enough to destroy my enthusiasm.
If I enter another one I think i'll come up with something cunningly contained! Hopefully i'll get round to finishing the image... one day! ;)
A massive thanks to everyone who gave me their support over the last three months and huge apologies for not getting it finished.
I've seen some amazing works in the competition - good luck to all!
Over and out,
Dave.
