Well just about there......
I've got about a couple of hours left so better get on. I've added some grass areas to the image to bring through some warmer colours which softens the feel of the image as well as seperates foreground, etc.
Yes I have removed the boys feet, but unless some miracle happens, I just haven't got the time to make them work - and it does look better without....

Good to be back again....work always seems to get in the way.
Like the festive avatar..have you posted your final image...must have a look - sorry I've been freelancing at a place where they don't like you online...it's been real hell and i'm working there all next week - hence the last minute panic... (hey I'll calm down once I've ftp'd my final image..
Nearly there - I've added the boy's feet again just in case people might not realise he was kneeling...few more tweaks and I'm there  :hmm: :D

We see a boy and his young mother at the end of their pilgrimage to visit the holy site where life is supposed to have originated on the planet.
Once every 10 years, the faithful return to the site to drink from the sacred waters that cascade from the crashed spacecraft.
The remains of the crafts occupants are kept within temples that cover the mountain side.
prayer flags and banners decorate the area, celebrating this source of life.

Hey David... Fab piece!
I went a bit awol during the middle of this challenge (work, babies and rsi!!) so sorry i haven't looked in! I cancelled all my thread subscriptions because i couldn't handle the email so i somehow missed your entry over the last week or so.
It looks great! The 'pilgrims' work fantastically well as an indicator of scale and it's a fantastic idea. I like the concept of the spaceship as some kind of temple to their ancestors.
Congratulations on getting it submitted and good luck!
And seeya next time!

Hey duddlebug - thanks for all your comments - hope the rsi is better - and as far as work and babies, well sounds very familiar!! - even better that you've had a chance to give support and advice.
See you in the next challenge!!

I didn't start off aiming for any particular religion or culture, but i did imagine a mountain terrain such as in the Himalayas, so a bhuddist feel did seem fairly natural (even though reasons behind the pilgrimage I have portrayed might differ from such beliefs).
Cheers for the comments :bounce:

Not sure what I think of this picture at the moment - you know when you've worked on something for a long time, your judgement goes out the window.
It was a bit of a struggle reaching this point unlike on the Machineflesh challenge, where I had the end result in my mind right from the start, but that's part of the challenge I guess
Roll on the next one :applause:
