best of luck matie
09-05-2005, 04:10 PM
Nice to see you everybody.
Very glad to be here for a new challenge.
It will be something strong I think.
For me it will be a real challenge to do something good because the theme is completely "out of my style". Will I achieve to make something simple but anyway spectacular ?? Or Will I had to make something more complex or realistic... I don't know.
Moreover I will make this challenge on a new software for me (XSi) to improve my skills on this software that I have to use on my worK.
3 months will not be enough.
Oh yes and for the moment...no real idea. I'm gonna love this challenge ! :scream:
09-05-2005, 06:04 PM
glad to see you here again! and I love your style , can't wait to see your stylize work from you again!
09-07-2005, 09:37 AM
thanks for droping by vincent~good luck to u too:)have fun
09-07-2005, 11:21 AM
Hello Vincent !
Come on :bounce: :bounce: After all 3 mnths = 90 days = 2160 hours ... you've got plenty of time
to learn a new 3D package... Lol
09-08-2005, 09:49 AM
Well I got an idea since some days. But it will be very difficult. Anyway I'll try it.
It's an evolutive concept depending on time.
1st, I'll do a running jaguar (with smoke on the ground...). It will be long. Depending on time, there would be a different bg ( ice or jungle). and if more time there will be pods following him ( name of the race : follow the jaguar ). so much work.
A sketch soon.
Spacenail : if the challenge is too short in time for me, it's due to my idea not the software himself. :scream:
09-08-2005, 09:57 AM
Nice idea... that's certainly possible in 3 months, no ?
Anyway, I'm waiting your sketch impatiently :bounce:
09-08-2005, 10:19 AM
Cool to see you here Vincent, I can't wait to see your first sketches on this idea of cars racing, the idea looks very promising !
Good luck mate :wavey:
09-08-2005, 11:55 AM
Good luck vincent
09-08-2005, 01:00 PM
Well. It's not the most beautiful sketch I've done but it is just to explain the idea. 1st there will be a jaguar, cheetah or something like that running near the camera.
As it is something difficult to model and design (wanna have my own style of jaguar), I'm waiting to see my ability to do it before saying all the things I wanna do on this picture. But normally it's a race with pods which must follow the animal in jungle or another bg.
If I see a the end of this week end that it's impossible to do in time allowed. I'll do something else.
You can do something grea with tis concept, but indeed, a jaguar is something quite hard to represent in 3D. Good luck for this challenge!
09-08-2005, 02:53 PM
can't wait for stylize jaguar ! man! good luck!
09-08-2005, 03:38 PM
can't wait for stylize jaguar ! man! good luck!
Hem... Me too.
Not sure of what I'm able to do. I don't think i'm such a good modeler as you, monsijt, or olivier. We will see. I give the week end to see if I'm able to do it or not.
And so for the stylization. I got some idea but not sure. I'll start on a classic animal and then modifiy. But your help for stylization will be much appreciated !
Anyway it is my challenge in this challenge :buttrock:
09-08-2005, 08:39 PM
Just a quick sketch of the animal in action. I think front legs will be more down and his bottom would be up.
Now let's model.
09-10-2005, 03:41 PM
1st start of the jaguar/cheetah.. Gonna find some stylisation after. If you got any comment...
09-10-2005, 04:14 PM
man where is the tail !:) hehe ofcourse ull put it! thats a sleek model looks as if it can run very fast. has style even now
09-10-2005, 08:03 PM
Nice beginning Vincent...
My best wishes for your work:thumbsup:
09-11-2005, 10:10 AM
Here's an update (with a tail yunisirees :scream:).
Don't really know where I'm going. This challenge seems to be more a learning session for me (software, other style of character? ). But it's funny.
09-11-2005, 11:48 AM
A quick test of composition and posing to the movement of the picture.
Tell me what you think of it.
09-11-2005, 11:53 AM
thats better! dont know yet what to say give some background !:D looks great but need to get a sense of placement!
09-11-2005, 11:56 AM
Great start Vincent, i like the pose as lot http://forums.cgsociety.org/images/icons/icon7.gifhttp://forums.cgsociety.org/images/icons/icon13.gif
09-11-2005, 03:52 PM
Ok. A 3d sketch of the last idea. I'm very undecided because spectacular is not my traditionnal style. So idea comes, I'm happy with it and then I see that it doesn't work...So last. Always the race where you have to follow the jaguar. Pod or ship are sphere. The race will surely be on the ice (alska race of the championnship).
Give me your comments. I need help :)
09-11-2005, 03:55 PM
I bet I could just copy-paste my comment from your Master and Servant thread here as well. You stick a black panther in one corner of the image and already I'm liking the composition ;)
Edit: Oops, not a panther but a jaguar.
09-11-2005, 04:26 PM
Kargokullti : as you see, I finally change. The panther (or whatever it is) was great on the old composition but I didn't have any action to do with it. If you got idea, I'm always ok.
The new layout is more classical but t can works I think. Now the aim is also more on the spaceship that on the animal.
09-11-2005, 04:47 PM
If you got idea, I'm always ok.
Me? I've got plenty of ideas :D Just the other day I was pandering The Car Made Of a Fridge And Some Oil Barrels off in another thread. Then there's the Streaker at the Signing of the World Peace Treaty in the year 2136. And there's more where that came from.
(I think it far too early for serious critique anyway, so I'm just spamming here. Plus being serious's just too much for me, as of late.)
09-11-2005, 10:13 PM
I promise me there's a long time ago not to do any spaceship. Everybody do spaceships ! But well I got to make some. And I don't really know what I'm doing; I haven't yet choose between realism and "comic". Do I have to be realist to be spectacular ? I don't really know. How can I make my scene more stylize ? Another interrogation without answer.
I'm speaking to myself ? I'm getting completely mad with this challenge.
Maybe will I make my most awfuk job but ....well, it's funny.
09-11-2005, 10:27 PM
WTF! cooool! i found u again! with ur crzy compositions! haha! ur the one! keep it up!:bounce:
09-11-2005, 10:51 PM
nice start on the modelling, your panther/cheetah topology and shapes looks really good. Maybe give them vests also since it's a icey environment?
I think your last composition it's hard to see/follow the race..
09-12-2005, 09:12 AM
Well Martin, teh composition... What I have done 1st with the animal was great for the animal but it was impossible to have any vehicules clear on the picture and it was not spectacular at all.
So actually I have 2 choices. The actual layout which is really dynamic but not readable for the animal. But maybe I can put him closer. Or a left/right profil layout where the animal go straight.
09-12-2005, 11:01 AM
cool idea and modeling
good luck :bounce:
09-15-2005, 03:32 PM
i think that your first choice is the good one, it's very dynamic and more spectacular, if the animal is not readable perhaps can you put more animals ? like a mother with her children ?....good continuation vgp
09-15-2005, 10:35 PM
Here's the last version of the module. LEss round, more bizarre...
All comments and ideas are welcome, as usual...
09-16-2005, 04:51 AM
I like your concept, it's unique in this challenge, about the composition , I can't comment at this stage because your work is combination of light color shadow and shape! I really like the post and dynamic of your servant charactor from MS challenge! and I think your new jaguar will made it too! good luck mate!
09-16-2005, 07:58 PM
Your concept is really good, it adds a lot to have a mix of mechanical and natural.
I think the second pod is better, the longer shape suggests direction better and will probably work well in the composition.
09-16-2005, 11:04 PM
Ok I'mplaying with texture for the pod. It will have a big number on side,to make it a race pod. I want to have something very colored to my final picture but it can chagne many times in my mind.
09-17-2005, 09:06 AM
Original way for you pod mate, very interesting... I'm very impatient to discover the final hard colored result... keep it up
09-17-2005, 12:07 PM
Some new tests. Don't know yet if I make something with reflections( low picture) or a more simple thing.
Waiting for your comments
09-17-2005, 08:09 PM
Last test. Model in situation.
09-18-2005, 03:02 PM
Nice idea, mate. I like animals too.
09-19-2005, 09:51 AM
Didn't know you had an entry going... o_O... the Luma Boy is one of my favourite images, so I'm hoping to see some of that style here too. Looking good so far.
09-19-2005, 10:04 AM
Good hunt Vincent. Wow U are 5 days older then me.
09-19-2005, 11:19 AM
:) A nice render again!
Hope to see more soon:thumbsup:
It is very promising!
09-19-2005, 04:34 PM
hey authentic ,
a lot of stuff going on here man and i missed ! those tests with the pod looks cool! like the texture with 8 better then 5!:) carry on with the cool stuff man!
09-20-2005, 10:04 AM
Hello everyone. Thanks for comment. The 1st pod seems nearly finish now (also think better with 8, yunisirees) . MAybe the big boxes need to be smaller or the have something to join them to the pod; I'm pretty happy with the color. Now the next step will be to texture the 2nd pod.
The rendering type is very different from my usual works ( and far from the luma boy, sorry JamesMK ) but I let me the possibilitie to completely change the style of rendering (more cartoon. Just to test).
I'm now thinking of the background; It has to be on the ice-barrier. But the question is on the amiance. If it is at night would it be more spectacular ??
09-20-2005, 11:05 AM
Great design and lighting work on the module !
Can't wait to see more also !
Looking forward :wavey:
09-21-2005, 07:40 PM
Here are the 1st steps for the texturing of the 2nd module. ope you'll enjoy it.
09-21-2005, 09:28 PM
Good luck man
09-24-2005, 09:56 AM
Good style you have there Vincent, and nice models too. Good luck for the next steps of your illustration. I will be back to see your progress:thumbsup:
09-24-2005, 11:01 PM
Here are 4 composition tests. I try to find the more dynamic and spectacular one. For the moment the 1st one is my favorite.
Tell me your opinion. Or if you have an other idea of layout...
09-25-2005, 10:48 AM
I like the third one but lower camera a bit to see the nearest pod in whole model !
simple but cool!
09-25-2005, 04:05 PM
thanks monsijt for coment. Don't have decide yet. Just a little explanation, the "round" pod is crashing into the ice.
09-25-2005, 05:02 PM
3 test of modeling for the ice barrier. The difference is to add or not some rocks on the side and which form, more classic or geometric.
If you have any comment, shader imporvement, I'm waiting for.
09-25-2005, 10:06 PM
this is a great idea! look forward to following it. I like the first and third layout, but maybe the jaguar more in view?
09-26-2005, 09:56 PM
Here's a new ciomposition made with a friend. It is more dynamic and original I think. The pod on the left is crashing. There will be some trails on the long pod to simulate his turn to follow the animal.
09-27-2005, 07:25 AM
The new composition was much better!
I will be looking here
09-27-2005, 08:41 AM
nice composition! no crits man all cool! hmm about the ambiance u could test for a late setting sun where the golden rays mix with the white ice! :)
09-27-2005, 01:53 PM
Thanks everybody for replies. Some comment. The ice rock on the right would be lower than the ship for a better composition. I'll try to add some fx in the pictures.
Concerning ambiance and rendering; The idea of sunset is good but I need to keep something clear to let the animal readable. Don't know again about rendering. Realistic or not...
09-27-2005, 11:10 PM
Ok here 's the logo of the race. It would be map onthe front of the round as now we see his front side...
09-27-2005, 11:29 PM
Well, nice composition Vincent!
It is convincing , hope to see more very soon;) (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)
Just an idea: Maybe put the big kitty closer but just a little, not too much.
Cu soon keep the good work
09-30-2005, 02:11 PM
Well I think your new composition is more dynamic, your friend is a good help ;-))
You can do it more dynamic with more curve on the ground and more "layer" of ice to make it deepper ! Don't forget (as your friend has said to you) to put the smoke behin the right pod with a good curve to complete the field around the pussy-cat...
Tibo (maybe the friend ? )
09-30-2005, 04:38 PM
i was sure that your picture of the jaguar will be a good logo :), your composition is nice too ! Waiting for the next picture ! :)
09-30-2005, 09:56 PM
hey authentic,i love ur style and concept! did u kknow ur one of my favorits since m&s?
09-30-2005, 10:23 PM
i like it!such a great concept.
09-30-2005, 11:45 PM
2 new composition; There was something too complicated on the old one. Don't know which one to choose. On the first one, the long pod is laking a fast u turn on the camera.
10-01-2005, 12:13 AM
the last compositions are nice man!my pic is the test 1!
10-01-2005, 05:26 PM
Thanks everybody. I've got many hesitations on this challenge, so far from my ussual works, but it's interesting.
yunisirees : thx. I also think the 1st one is the best but is it so spectacular ?? There is less speed on it. We'll see. Anyway thx for comment.
shakes : thanks man
Madlight_1988 : such a great, honor. Don't know if I deserve such compliment. Thks.
monks : the logo have been map onthe round pod but don't know if we'll see it with the last compositions
Jazz : as you see i have made some changes and test another one. I think the pod on foreground was more complicating the picture than increase its quality; Now he's already crashed and better placed I think. Oh I don't forget the fx for movement on the long pod. :D
funkyboss : thx for comment. I know the animal is far but it has to be if I want convincing sensation of speed in the picture. Something important is that with the white ice and the render, his black skin make it more present.
10-01-2005, 07:42 PM
some texture test but I've got some problem on the mesh butit works with black.
10-04-2005, 10:47 PM
Here's a 1st render test; Will be surely very different at the final version..I'm tired so more comments tomorrow :)
10-05-2005, 09:30 AM
Some comments on the picture. For the moment the problem is that it is not spectacular... Maybe I'll have to put some pod closer. Another idea is to make a big hole (following the path of the pod) and that has dug the ice so that there will be particule and big hole on the ground...
Give me your ideas.
Some told me about how the ice shader was made. There is no sss. It's just phong (I think, I must check) with noise on the texture and bump (made with darktree). There is also some final gathering who really react well in the shadow and colored ambient.
Thanks to follow this thread.
10-05-2005, 10:44 AM
yes... maybe bringing the crashing pod closer and the other one further.... I don't know... I think you could make the 'U' trail going through the top half of the image instead of the bottom one, that way it wouldn't overlap the "important" part of the image...
You have a great image going on here, the ice looks great and it's a very good concept
10-05-2005, 11:03 AM
elmasfeo thanks for comment; Putting the trail on the top part was the next thing I planned too. So great idea...
10-06-2005, 11:00 PM
A litlle update. To make it more spectacular I can suppose the pod has make a big action on the ice before going up to pusrsuit the jaguar.
10-06-2005, 11:40 PM
Hello vincent and i didn't see you before.......:buttrock:
About your work....well, i like a lot the ice texture, i think tha it is a very good work....God luck:eek:
10-07-2005, 10:27 AM
It looks very good overall - the pods, the snow, the impact trail in the snow, and the composition is beautiful - but like you said, it's not very spectacular at the moment, but rather ... er... I think "cool elegance" is my immediate impression. Which is really good too though, but not 100% on topic.
Thoughts: ... maybe a blizzard?... maybe some really thick spiral whirls of snow (just as what would happen with, for instance, a helicopter hovering above a field of snow)... maybe some parts have fallen off from one of the pods, going off in another direction, with some debris and more tracks in the snow... and like elmasfeo suggests, bring one of the pods closer to the camera (or perhaps add a third pod close-up somehow)
Great work at any rate.
10-07-2005, 07:47 PM
hope it will be more spectacular
10-08-2005, 02:29 PM
A big progress with fx. I needed to make it now to see if it could be spectacular or not... And I have made a important decision. To make my image more spectacular I had to be more in action (thanks to directionnal blur), to have more fx and to make this more impressive to have more contrast; My first renders were, hem, nice. But not spectacular at all.
SO I decided not to make this in a day ambience but to be more a night, cloudy background; And it will be more efficient for fx and evrything.
I have also made some changes to the pod; Suppress the pipes, add some thing for the long fx.; maybe I'll also supress the cubes or change them (color, size..)
Don't hesitate to comment.
10-11-2005, 09:56 PM
The round pod has been crashed. Poor round pod...
A big smoke coming from his reactor. But which color. White smoke ?? Black smoke ??
The black seems the more natural too me but it breaks my picture and make too much focus on it. Or it is secondary action; Thre white smoke look more beautiful but less logical maybe.
10-11-2005, 10:05 PM
hey nice updates! yeah one doesnt really have to be logicaly correct if it looks good i think it will be ok! .. i think the white smoke with a little bit of darker shadows will be nice!
10-11-2005, 10:12 PM
i think i prefer the black smoke best. keep em coming!http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/2745/elvisbounce81cf.gif
10-11-2005, 10:16 PM
mix the black and white smoke... to a shade of gray :)
10-11-2005, 10:34 PM
wow...what a espectacular secuence, i will like a lot your final image:eek:
10-12-2005, 09:25 AM
Thanks for comment. I think I'll keep the withe one but with draker shadows at the bottom.
The problem with teh black one is that I lost all the volume when I composite it on my background. Maybe just an impression but nothing to do.
10-14-2005, 10:18 PM
Now working on ice projection of the side of the hole.
Working good I think. The particles are too big at foreground but I'm gonna change it.
Sorry for little image size but I'm working on this resoltution and it is a little part of the picture.
10-15-2005, 02:29 PM
Last work on bg. There is some work to do always on the sky but don't know really what I'll do...
10-17-2005, 11:15 AM
thats lovely snow rendering man! the scene's looking very dream like !
10-17-2005, 11:22 AM
Beautiful Snow Wave Vincent
10-17-2005, 11:34 AM
wow,cool,i loved the colors,snow just loox gr8!
wow, beautiful pic!:bounce:
10-17-2005, 02:21 PM
The last BG is positively beautiful
The upper bits of the splash in the left corner looks a little bit "blobby", but it's just a small thing... looking great overall.
10-17-2005, 07:59 PM
A little modifiction on the animal which is really nearer from us now. It makes the picture more comprehensible and dynamics even it has less depth (there was like an objective far with the animal more at background).
I also change the pose a little. I'll try to make him some textures to see if it can work.
10-17-2005, 09:37 PM
very nice work on the snow!! looks fantastic. beautiful colours.
10-17-2005, 10:04 PM
wow, I really love the colour palette so far ..
10-18-2005, 03:05 AM
yes! love your color ! and movement is good too!
10-18-2005, 10:11 PM
I added some stripes to the puma. Yes they are green... And well it(s not bad in green I think even it can be bizarre; In an other hand there are pods pursuiting the animal so the colors of stripes can be more funny...
To be serious I now have finish the puma (even if the color of stripe can change). I got 2 bifg things to work. the sky that I've done very quicky (but i like my colors) and add some details like foot steps.
Give me your ideas.
10-19-2005, 10:07 AM
I just wanna thanks everybody for comment in this reply. I'm also happy of the color; I wanted something really colored and not in only one tint. It's so more difficiult to share blue, red or yellow. Of course it depends of the matter. Now the ice is cool and I have to show you with the pod.
At the final I think the picture will not be something exceptionnal but it would have learn me many things and it was the aim.
10-19-2005, 10:36 AM
wonderfull feeling!! ,it`s getting really nice, i can`t wait to see it finish
10-19-2005, 05:48 PM
wow man...that looks great...i like the perspective of the camera and the effect of movement:thumbsup:
10-19-2005, 07:30 PM
Great image I think that it would increment the spectacularity if it sees more clear the puma, it looks great the movement.
10-19-2005, 08:49 PM
Here's an advanced picture; Don't know what to do to improve it so I wait for your comments...
10-21-2005, 03:07 AM
hey thats really nice, i like the colouring in the image.
10-21-2005, 03:21 AM
hi authenticthe scene really looks cool! :bounce: :bounce: ! hmmm i think u could put some clouds onto the sky there!right now its a bit empty !
cheers man .. lovely work!
10-21-2005, 07:38 AM
This looks already spectacular to me! Very dynamic:thumbsup: ... I agree with yunisirees, some clouds to fill the empty space would be nice. :)
10-21-2005, 08:17 AM
I WONDER WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE BLACK PANTHOR THERE.....
I'LL TUNE IN WHEN IT'S DONE
10-21-2005, 08:50 AM
nice angle
10-21-2005, 12:06 PM
Damn, really kewl! i think there should be a high contrast between the background and the forground, maybe adding some sharp warm colors to the horizental line, and fading it to top,to simulate the action, and the horror behind the scene! by the way, really cool! and horizental frame was just the best solution! gr8! and for the composition,if i were u ,i would have put the leo a littlebit more to the left, that will gather attention, and will bump out! i cant w8 to c the final!:D:thumbsup:
10-21-2005, 01:04 PM
Very dynamic scene there Vincent, love the speed in it and the colours. Very good work sofar!
10-21-2005, 03:52 PM
Hey nice concept, i see you make arctic like picture too, I think the snow is too bright maybe slightly should be underlined shadows, to separate sky and ground. Good luck!
10-22-2005, 10:30 AM
thanks everybody for comment. It gives me big motivation.
Dodgeas3d Madlight_1988 daWinky yunisirees : Effectively, I got many work to do with the sky. It's a bit difficult to have something great. Maybe should i put off the little fog on the depth... THe pb is that if I like the pink tint of my sky and if I put it more stronger or darker it makes bizarre with ice cause ice is reflective so it has to be tint by the environement. Anuyway I'll try different skies and add some clouds. It's something I have never done. So cool a new challenge in the challenge. Oh and I'll try to put the panther more on left to see.
Now I had to work.
10-22-2005, 04:49 PM
great composition! i'm a big fan of blue, icy planets mixed with red fire/light/magic :)
might i suggest to make the motion blurred rocket on the right less dominant... perhaps it would help if you use a wider lens and let the rocket come a little bit more horizontally into the picture?
now, work on the sky :)
i bet this will look great when finished!
10-24-2005, 04:19 PM
Just a little update to modify the composition. Regarding of your comments, I think that the hole between the panther and the long pod wasn't big enough so I moved the pod more on the right side.
And always the sky to do...
10-24-2005, 04:47 PM
Still looks very good, and the layout couldn't possibly be clearer I think. It lacks a certain something... but I'm guessing it comes down to the not yet done sky. All in all it's quite beautiful, perhaps even serene in spite of the crash action.
10-24-2005, 05:06 PM
Being following your thread for a while, and i must say i love the concept and the last updates.
Despite the fact that it's hard to crit the last image, i'll suggest two or three things, hope it will help.
First of all, at first sight I feel that the jaguar is not running 'straight', i mean the direction it takes make me believe it's going to turn before the snow dune on the left, maybe it's trying to dodge the pod?. I think it's disturbing because of the motion blur that give a sensation of straightness (??), like if there was a track or a path the jaguar was running on.
The second thing: the pod on the right 'shows' so much speed that I feel that the jaguar is veeery slow, and that the pod is going to smash it. (well, that could be exactly your goal). I don't have the 'pursuit' feeling, feels more like a 'pod shooting'.
Keep up the good work
PS: impressive snow modelling/rendering, it's really convincing and great looking.
10-25-2005, 12:36 PM
Ok here's the sky for background. Nothing extraordinary but it 's the 1st I ever made.
A sort of introducing to matte painting.
Hope yu'll like it.
10-25-2005, 12:50 PM
A little reply to explainwhere I am and to answer some questions.
In fact I think that James (great comment) has really seen the problem of this picture. It lack something and maybe it is the danger. i got very saturated color but not big contrast so maybe the sensation of dangerousnes is too bad. This picture is not bad to my mind but it could have been more impressive
There are some problem with the jaguar position as tartare said (very thanks for long critic). I have lower the motion blur on it. Hope it will be enough; The problem is that if I put him in another posing or too far the action isn't enough readable.
But I find there are porbleme of distance in this picture betwenn the different actors.
For the sky I didn't find something that could really increase the quality of the picture; Just try to keep good colors.
It doesn't stay so much things to do. Footsteps and big render that would open me new possibilities (if my computer follow).
Thanks all for comments.
10-27-2005, 10:17 AM
Ok I'm working on render the big resolution pass; So it's a bit long with my computer.
So well alittle making of with the wire to wait.
10-27-2005, 12:44 PM
good luck authentic
10-27-2005, 10:46 PM
It's almost finished. depending on critics.. i have made some adjustements on panther (reducing one leg), pods (dust)....
I just have an hesitation between my original picture (bottom) which is colored like I thought and a more desaturate one which can give it more realism.
Waiting for comments.
10-27-2005, 11:02 PM
mmm... I think I like the saturated pods but the unsaturated background and snow.... you could combine them both...
GREAT image, but you are finishing too early :scream:, go and make a mamooth chasing the pod chasing the panther, hehehe...
10-28-2005, 09:25 AM
Thanks for comment elmasfeo. I was also thinking about this possibility (about saturation because a mamoot, if I got 6 months :scream:)
For time I see that 2 months (like for master and servant) is a good time for me as I have a simple style. But maybe next time will I do a more huge things ??
10-28-2005, 10:43 AM
Nice snow. Very dynamic scene there.
3d?! for a sec i thought that was 2d... man am i glad... this is damn AWESOME! maybe one day ill get a computer and give you a run for your money :P but i was surprised there that i didnt see your work... but i dont visit the 3d thread often... i am kind of really honored you commented on my work...
i held my breath there for a second. i guess you have success! :P
10-28-2005, 09:11 PM
wow . The colors are eye catchying. more than that, they are so warm I love em really :)
10-30-2005, 06:02 AM
i really like the simplicity in this. feels as if the concept was deconstructed to the point where everything in the image registers with the viewer that is important. ship/cat/missle/chase. yet its presented aestheticly and with good colour theory.
10-30-2005, 08:42 AM
Hi. Awesome minimalistic work, it looks perfect
As you have a lot of time you could try different things with the smoke. I think it's the only element that could be better :D
Ah, of course I prefer the satured version.
10-30-2005, 08:48 AM
looking great authentic-i think I prefer the second render the best-it's very rich in colour.
Wow! nice color man.Good luck with the contest.
10-30-2005, 09:32 AM
Awesom work - I really like this
The saturated version is the best in my eyes!
10-30-2005, 05:43 PM
Great composition authentic... i like the rich tones and colors of the second image
11-02-2005, 09:03 AM
Thanks everybody. Sorry for the late answer (no connexion and no time these last days).
I'm glad to see you prefer the more saturated one. It's also my thought.
I also think like you david that the smoke has to be reworked a little (maybe just more colored)
I have some other works or tests to do (pod projection, more movement to panther ??...) before the end. Hope it will increase the picture.
Thanks slav. It seems that my works are often specially appreciated by 2d guys, but as the don't often go to 3d forum...
11-02-2005, 11:20 AM
Nice shot! It is better and better... POV is really efficient, we are in the action!
Impressive touch! Very good job!
Maybe a little thing: some "dust" under the right pod could give more weight to it? just an idea:shrug:...
11-02-2005, 11:23 AM
It really does seem like that elusive "something" has appeared in that last update.... not sure why, but it has some sort of magnetism now that was missing before. Very good
11-02-2005, 11:33 AM
I like the saturated version too...I like that your image has that great feeling of things moving fast and very low on the ground.
11-02-2005, 05:31 PM
thanks everybody for comment. Hope I'll success to improve again this picture. And maybe I'll add some snow at the bottom of the long pod.
11-03-2005, 02:27 PM
Really nice image. I like it because I don't think I would ever do something with so much saturation and color. I find that my own images tend to lean to the desaturated end of the spectrum because of my fear and lack of knowledge with color. Here you have used it to really impact the mood and create a feeling of the fantastical, but it still feels realistic. I hope to look to images like this when I get to rendering my own stuff and "challenging" myself to try some bolder color choices. Excellent work and I have no real formal critique. Good stuff.
11-03-2005, 02:57 PM
I really like your style. especially the colours.....all my best wishes for u )
11-03-2005, 03:00 PM
Hi, authentic, the colors are cool
11-05-2005, 12:53 PM
It is look better and better.
11-06-2005, 10:34 AM
Thanks everybody. I don't know if I deserve so much congratulations ( as Novocaine's one which is just, well just thanks man).
Sorry for no updates since a long time. I got many problems with this picture (ansd with my computer...).
But all your encouragements give me strength to ameliorate the picture if I can; I'm now working on the round pod part. I have reduce the sizze of the snow whiwh was a little too big and to rough I think; I also try to put off the smoke and make that the pod is just crashing with many snow on the sides; I think the smoke is a little breaking the picture. We'll see an d I'llwait for your opinion.
Soon an update I hope.
11-06-2005, 04:07 PM
A big hesitation. So i Need YOU...
For the left part of the picture I've got many interrogations. I got some problem with the smoke I made, even wheni colored it more. Seems bizarre; So is it better without ?? And is it a good idea to add a planet at backgorund (roughly done just to test) to add some details in a poor zone.
Do you have other ideas ??
11-06-2005, 04:13 PM
I'd keep the smoke. It's important to lead the way to the blue pod, because I don't think it will be easily noticed without such a leading line. EDIT: but perhaps revert the smoke to the previous whiter appearance.
And I would not add that planet. It looks rather much like a cliché rising above the horizon there, and it breaks the style of you image.
All of the above in my always humble opinion of course.
11-06-2005, 07:13 PM
I agree with James- it was pretty perfect as it was with the smoke...and the planet confuses it a little. lovely image .
11-07-2005, 07:59 AM
Ok here's another possibility for the smoke of the pod.
The big smke stay bizarre to me and I totally agree with you, James, that the planet is a cliche completely out of my style. Nothing to do here...
Thanks for comment to you, james and John.
11-07-2005, 04:09 PM
Just droppin by here to tell you that you're work is fantastic , very unique style.
So keep on rocking man :arteest: :bounce:
Bon courage pour la finalisation :wavey:
Ps : Yep I find the purple smoke nicer , wonderful work on that snow...
11-07-2005, 04:33 PM
I think the white smoke was very good - overall this is a great image, well done
11-08-2005, 07:00 AM
Hi! I like your idea! It's very interesting! And only one. It seems to me that colors are too satureted. The color of the sky and the color of the snow contradict one another. But it's only my view. I wish you good luck! :)
11-08-2005, 04:49 PM
to me, it looks better with the planet and the smoke, the final choice is yours:thumbsup:
11-08-2005, 09:39 PM
I have working on the round pod part of the picture. Adding dust, erase problems...
For the smoke I will see later...I let the problem on a board.
11-09-2005, 09:58 PM
I had worked on th epanther. Adding dust snow, working on fur... Everythinhg to have more movement. Not sure it's a success but well...
Give me comment and advice, you're welcome.
11-10-2005, 09:03 PM
Very Beautiful Scene.angle Of The Image Is Nice.final Image Will Be Really Spectacular.
11-11-2005, 07:11 AM
it's coming along very nicely.. perhaps add some footprints in the snow.
I think add the smoke for the pod, I agree with JamesMK in suggesting making it white
11-11-2005, 08:24 AM
it is the 1-st time that I see your subject and I like very much your idea and also the dynamics of the image,:applause:
11-11-2005, 10:33 AM
Hey Vincent,im really a big fan of ur artwork! u know some kind of special simplicity is in these images, and the main elements of image and Graphics are inside...congrats,uv got a very nice style of ur own!
11-11-2005, 11:38 AM
Now I add some details on master pod. Some little lights, a little snow at the bottom, dirt on the paint...
11-11-2005, 03:36 PM
Vincent, merci for your so pertinent comments on my thread  very appreciated and usefull !
Well I saw only now your entry (very late sorry  ) but I have to say
Your jaguar is amazing a very nice low poly models and the anathomy is sublime, a very accurate and precise work. The fur colors are very original and I think that make sense in a sci-fi image like this one... eventually (the green) shapes are very geometric and not so much comparable to a natural mimetik animal skin, but this is a personal decision...
What I like too is the balance with your choosen colors in the main composition... just between the red and the other side of image didn't lack something... probably your smoke is too small ans reult a bit unbalanced with the other side... a more dense and fat violed smoke coloum can eventually make sense ?
Sorry for my bad english, hope you undertood what I mean...
en tou cas: splendide ! j'aime beacoup! have a nice week-end !
11-12-2005, 08:52 AM
Thanks everybody for comments. I see everyone's not agree with the smoke; My own mind disagree itself (not sure it is understandable:scream:). Well I'll post new smokes very soon. It seems that's the last thing I have to do. Anyway your comment are really useful for me and give me courage.
I tried once again to add some footprints like you suggested martin but it is really difficult to see with the color of snow and the big motion blur. Anyway I find it better.
I was afraid it was too saturated, Atris, but it was an objective to have saturated colors; Not to of course but I send 2 pictures and everybody liked the more saturated one and me too...THx for comment.
Jdd. Thx for your sweet comment. I agree with you about shapes on pahter but it is abit too late for me to change it now; Anyway it is not shocking. For the smoke as you can see before in the thread it is something I really doubt about it. Big smoke cut the picture and the rythm but it had something too. Don't really know. A new smoke is coming, are you ready for it :scream: ?
11-12-2005, 09:39 AM
Sure we are
11-12-2005, 10:55 AM
Well I've madediffernet smoke, now it's time to vote ;). Keep in mind how is made the full picture with big space at left (where smoke is) and many things a right looking one direction.
According to me, the best are 2nd and 4th in 2 completely different styles.
Waiting for your comments.
11-12-2005, 11:32 AM
I like the first one for the color is lighten and the gradient (blues/darbluse) fit very nicely in the scene and the D... very hard to point into a single choise becasue smokes are very different between both. Well a very personal point of view at same time...
11-12-2005, 11:50 AM
my vote goes to A and D.. depending if you want to have a lot of smoke or not... :)
11-12-2005, 02:42 PM
hi vincent !
for me the "D" seems a good choice...the a, b and c are too big on the final picture, make the good choice ! :)
11-12-2005, 04:47 PM
I think that B would be best because it crashs in an instant and the reactor must be still active, the smoke should follow movement also
11-12-2005, 05:59 PM
Bro The Smoke Effects Are All Nice Now You Have To Decide What Exactly Goes Best With The Mood Shade And Concept.i Like Second One Though.
11-12-2005, 10:09 PM
D with color of F with some fire inside will be good to me. Nice work so far. Keep it up
11-13-2005, 08:38 PM
I like smoke A or B..I think A. Love all those compositing closeups. the jaguar is superb.
11-14-2005, 06:14 AM
Really prefer the "B" version... for the same reason than "ChrisD01" about crash instant... and if not, no snow projection... and also for duality color touches in the comp... just a little hot color touch at left... opposite to the big hot colot touch of the right pod...
The final choice can't leave the global quality of your work... original and beautiful...
11-14-2005, 09:36 AM
Thanks everybody for comments; at the moment I think the D version will be the good one. It's the one which seems to be the best in the final picture. Indeed the round pod part of the picture is what we can call secondary action, it mustn't be the main focus of the picture. So the big smoke can be disturbing at this point.
On the fact that there is projection of snow, I htoink the 2 smoke seems to be after crash smoke not "real time", so they both have the problems; It's why I have hesitate to simply delete smoke and just add snow.
i'll post very soon the final picture to a last approval before stop the challenge.
11-14-2005, 10:07 AM
I vote for D,or F but i ll see a trail instead of a calm smoke. It is too contrasted with the snow "splatch" of the same module...Dunno if I am clear:scream:
Good work love ur style!
11-14-2005, 07:07 PM
nice progress!love the snow close up! hmmm my pick B and F !:)
B or D or all of them? you can mix them and see.. (B- is more spectacular D - fits better the mood of image - in my opinion ) -cheers
11-15-2005, 07:24 PM
well it seems to be finished. Waiting for your last comments.
Here's the story :
In a undefined year, earth has been "biologically" destroyed. Virus, technology, wars condamned humans to live on bubbles filled of oxygen. The nature was stronger than human. Many animals survived the different plagues and landscape became wildest that it never been.
There is Very less danger and activities on these bubble. Really boring. So they decided to organize the "follow the wild animal" championship. It is very dangerous hunting race, where the aim is to follow the longest time you can a wild animal. Nature had become so strong this last centuries that all the human technology is unable to have the speed or strength of such animals. So the winner is the last candidate on run.
All the over candidates (crashed, lost...) are abandonned outside with no chance to survive. But for the winner a unique prize : his own bubble of living for him and his family. Which can give him more space he can never dream of.
The picture you see is taken from the antarctic race which is called " follow the black panther". MAybe for the first time one pod could catch an animal but nature is more suprising that the runner think... But let the story continue.
Artistic appreciation :
The idea for me was to do something new (and on a new sotware)for me and very colored (in different tone not just one). The spectacular style had to come from subject and composition. So I decided to place the spectator on the race.
If the result is not genius, itis correct and I really liked talking with everybody.
Good luck to finish your spectacular.
11-15-2005, 07:40 PM
Very sweet picture! Love that splashed snow, maybe missing some more hills and rocks in back for better atmosphere feeling.
Anyway congrats with a finished peace! btw interesting story. Goodluck!
11-16-2005, 04:45 AM
yes! you done it! your work always my favourite! the combination of compositon and color are excellent , the light trail on the jet is very great ,I like it , good job man!
