hi everybody.

i had a very busy time, so i'm a little bit late for the challenge (as always), but i will finish at least my 3D entry.

this is a VERY quick drawing, by far not representing the final image in any way, just to capture my idea.

it's about a dirty world, air polluted, no future. a little girl/woman discovers a flower. the first flower she ever saw. that's all what the picture will be about.

i want to play a lot with dirt. there should be a dense apocalytic athmosphere (blueish?). the flower and her eyes (reflecting the flower) should look like the only living things in the picture with strong colors.

no details on cloth, environment, hair style, props, flower category, etc, yet. just this picture in my head.

doesn't start very spectacular. but the first steps are most important, i think. having a good idea and establish a good composition and posing of the character.

just some quick low poly start. i spent more time on finding a pose, which i think will fit into the image...

next step.
rough model of the underlying skin, helps me to place cloth, which will be next step.
i will show wires when it comes to details (face, hands, cloth, accessoires,...)

cloth will be hard, because i don't have got an overall style defined, yet. i don't know if i should go the sexy/dirty way or if it's better, when she's getting thick cloth as if she's wearing stuff from her father.... hmmmm...

ok, i managed to do some details on my girl today. i think i can finish with the rest this weekend. this is just a small part of the girl geometry...

todo list:
- jacket
- breathing equipment
- hair
- nails
- ornaments

please give advises if something looks wrong in your eye, i'm open for all suggestions...

hi maxim. great concept. I think if you open the girls mouth a little, it will show 'awe' a little more, since you said this is the first flower she ever saw (possibly increasing spectacularness as well.)

today i have plenty of time for this project and i'm modeling like a maniac.... just rendered this one out and i thought i put it on my thread... fighting with her hair now. seeya later

N_krypsh_N: hm, i tought about opening the mouth more, but it looks unatural to me. as if she is frozen in time... and she will get a breathing equipment, so she can't open it too much either :) thanks for your suggestion!

Wow Philipp! What a brilliant modelling/posing job did you do at that! :eek: :thumbsup: Also the idea of the concept really is just AWESOME! :scream:

I'll be following you for sure during this challenge, as this looks simply amazing! ;)

What about the 2D-challenge... Do you 'only' continue this one, or are you also gonna do something with that other one? :rolleyes:

ok. will leave the girl now as it is and fix some minor issues (hair) AFTER i've done the environment, when it comes to shading and texturing. UV coordinates are set and girl is rigged for last minute changes.

now i need some great ideas for the environment.... but i'm so tired now.... zzzzzz

Dutchman: hmm... i don't know if i find the time for 2d... but i'm not the guy who can draw 2 weeks on one piece, so when i get a good idea the 2d part will be a 'few days quickie' .... hehehe

This is really freaking good.:thumbsup: The modeling,the pose, the hair and fur. This is top notch stuff. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this.

One thing I do notice, is her left forearm seems a bit large in proportion to her body.

Beautiful modelling, especially on the coat. The folds look very natural.

My only crit would be regarding where you have placed the mask on her face. It doesn't look like it would stay where it is, and even if it did it certainly wouldn't be comfortable! Perhaps make it bigger so that it extends to the top of the nose, and/or move it up her face?

testing the composition and work on the background. the geometry for the foreground are just low poly stand-ins. it's going to be something like this camera angle and background.

detached: hmm.. i modelled in daVinci pose with reference, so proportions should be alright. perhaps skinning messed something up. will look into it, thanks.

N_krypsh_N: the (now) integrated cloth-sim in 3ds max. sometimes i come back to simcloth, but with max8 the cloth modifier got very stable, so simcloth is nearly never needed anymore...
