This is a result of series of composition
tests, all of which went..uhm, funny.

This one's to try if the previous dragon
scenarion would work with just one
dragon tearing a ship apart.
Doesn't quite have the impact of the
previous image with the dragon closeup,
so I'll get back to sketching.. :)

Gotta agree with you squibster... the dragon in the foreground helped with the drama and helped provide the sense of scale for the dragons and the ships.

I like the dragon, ship, sky, background and colours in this version though! Just needs another dragon. How about some more ships (maybe little fighter escorts?) buzzoing around like the dragons are attacking a big convoy of ships?

this last sketch could work if there would be a better presentation of a ship destruction. Lets brake it on two halfs, make lots of mess and stuff flying around, some of the ship should be out of the format to make it more dynamic and the effect should be spetacular I guess.

Love the dragons dude. Suggestion: How about a lower angle near the ship's boosters, showing a couple of small dragons actually going inside the booster and biting off some chunks. They're dragons anyway, so they gotta be fire proof at some point right? While the Mother Dragon's biting off an even bigger chunk offa the ships main hull... :P Love your concept man!

dude i was thinking the exact same thing when painting that, cause
originally the pic didn't have the anything except the angel and i had
planned on putting a priest and some church goers in there, when i
noticed some paint lines looking like a pair of wings there and decided

What I particularly like is the way you arranged it so that the shaft of light goes right down over the angel and illuminates the areas that you need most and that area is most saturated. Keep that in whatever you do. Go kick something!

You're totally right , dude, I had planned to have the angel statue grip one of the
succubi,for one, but i was rather busy with other stuff while sketching so it ended
up looking way unfinished. Thanks for the comments, really appreciated, will try
to make the next update much clearer :thumbsup:

I'm sure it's been suggested (oh, for a faster connection so I could read all these threads!) but I'd go for a really low, exaggerated angle, with the "camera" almost on the ground. I'd have the priest in the foreground, and on the ground, and the devils around him, startled and looking back over their shoulder at the angel dude, who towers in the background - taking up maybe the top 70% of the image. I'd have the angel just beginning to step out of the alcove, though, and not fully out. I suppose the best parallel would be like in the movies - where a hero gets hit and then falls face-first towards the camera, which is at ground level, and you see the villians standing over him in the background.

Squib man, this sketch is pretty damn nice. I really like the angle of this one as opposed to the last sketch you did. Maybe you could encorporate the some different lighting just as a test, but honestly, I think this one has immense potential.

This one is cool also. It will be fun to watch this one develop if you decide to go with it.

The attack of the priest is a bit to much in the background. Just an impression. Regarding the storytelling maybe it could be interesting to change the arrangement. The priest attack in the foreground and the angel coming from the background to help him. Cause it would be cool to see those creatures more detailed.

An allways fascinating thing about churches is the lighnting. Especially when the windows have colored mosaic parts. You have two great possibilities to use lightning in this concept. One is the realistic lightning you can go with or you do it like in the old paintings and make an irreal but dramatic/surrealistic lightning scene.

What I want to say is I definetley like the topic. It has many possibilities.

yea i was thinkin like the priest is all taken now by the charms of the succubi and doesn't
wanna be rescued, even tho he prayed for help just a moment ago, so he could be
showing the middle finger to the angel.
The angel of course knows his mission and is gonna take the succubi away to his heavenly
mansion to..umm.. tech them a few lessons n stuff..

This last composition is far better i think. Love the way the priest is struggling in vain. Still think its kind of ambiguous (as someone else said) whether the big angel is coming to help the priest or is comanding the little demons. For me, having one of them turn to him looking a bit frightened isn't enough because if they're demons and he was their master chances are he'd not be a nice one, and they'd be scared of him anyway. Perhaps you should make a faint halo out of the light streaming in to suggest the big angel is all good and holy? Whatever you decide im sure it'll come out looking... well, spectacular.

all played good , going there really cheered me up a lot... now

Its great to see youre always trying new ideas, but are you any closer to deciding which one to do? This one is really well painted. Its got some good dark humour and a cartoony (almost Dr Seuss-y) look to it, but doesnt really strike me as spectacular. If it was seen looking over his shoulder, so you can see what he sees, then yeah, it could be, but right now im getting 'danger' or 'surprise' or something.
