Always a poly version with less wrinkles... and something near to Rebecca's idea...

More lenght... I have trying something more near to the Rebecca's idea... that appear very sweet and in the flow in side view... but the result appear very curious and less pleasant in front view... maybe this test... between the both... not much.

The last one for the moment... short nurbs version... with "franges"...

Now... I hope to find the "good" version in these different version... I really must stop to work on her... I must rest of her... and do other thing.

Thanks to you all for you great interest, greats comments and always incredible support... kisses...

To me it's an easy choice... number 4 without the belt is the most Mucha in my eyes ... also the one that brings her shape most to focus. The later, feathered typs are all very cool, but perhaps more ina twenties style of fashion.
Go with the fourth but drop the belt - that's my vote

She's looking lovely now ... and now we want to see her in place!

nr 4... has my vote...
the end of the dress is just perfect. And as our own CG-taylor, Gunilla wrote, show her shape.. but I want the belt to stay... :)

You have a good point Guni... with this remark... feathered version is more twenties style... totally right and evident now... and not the style searched...

More smooth you prefer... good... I note that... just add a seam above the breast part... that appear "more" finish now...

Thanks for advice lovely Gunie

hahaha... swedish girls are always the first to give good advice... cool for me... number 4 for you too... well... (I must send you the belt at home then... hahahah...) If that will be the last choice to do... that agree me anyway... that can comes in final framing without prob...

Thanks you too lovely Mona

hmmm... as a guy (hu Dimi and Sabrina ? hahahaha :scream: :D )
I vote without hesitation for the number 4 too.
The poly version is smoother which to me is better for the look of an angel.
Besides the flying shape gives more the "angel look".

With or without belt...

I thought Rebecca's suggestion about the extra tendrils/fringes/whatever was superb, and the best example of that is in your number 5, BUT....

Upon seeing No. 4, my eyes popped out, and my decision was already made. The longer, flowing, gentle dress is my choice for sure. Excellent design on that one!

No. 4 for the win! all the way!

Now... I think it's time to show you all the new evolution, the new story...

...sincerly, I hope you like this one better than the previous one. I think to have a good feeling with this one... as a new born...

As you know, I don't really know what I must choose between a young girl or a young boy...

Finally... I don't know if the knowledge attraction will be sufficient and also spectacular for our children... Knowledge is actually a real part of our life...

Other thing... the library done seem very closed... and that will be certainly better to offer some knowledge to everybody, exactly the contrary than a closed space.

The knowledge is based on old knows... I must find something between old and actual... with a strong contrast of time and place...

For the time's contrast and the opening... I imagine now this library as something really open... I can keep what I do for the moment... and the contrast of time will be give by the contrast of ruins of library... and a part of it... clean as the previous version, just 2 sections... with books... shelves... gate.

The contrast of place... can go with the contrast of culture... the end of the dungeon and the casttle spirit... that must be open... upwards and downwards... no more stairs than one.

Open upwards the sky... open downwards with the hole in the ground... as a well... as a knowledge's well... of course, we imagine it bottomless, as the knowledge.

Always to keep the contrast of place... the environment can be something as a forest... or maybe a jungle... a very dense forest... is something very dark... as the lack of knowledge.. and light comes of the library... of the Angel of knowledge where we can see the fly of knowledge, materialized with golwy blue birds, each oneth hold in their nozzle a different letter of Runes.

And any spectacle need for spectators, who will be the witnesses of the spectacular... these privileged spectators will be pigmés or aboriginals...

...when the culture meet the knowledge.

:cry::cry::bowdown::thumbsup:

Beautiful! the idea is very good and will work well I think, bravo!
So... why don't you make us the spectators? The modern man so very far away from the ancient knowledge would be more in need of that sight ... just a thought.

The new concept ties everything together in a most elegant way - and I wont ask if you really have the time to do it. Oops - I just did that :D

This is going to be exciting to follow!

Well, it's was a while than i haven't do some step on cgtalks, in "vmlt" ("Values of measurement of the Lemog's threads"), i will say something about 30 or 40 pages :D

I was wondering what's going on here, and i'm not disapointed: a cool new story and you're nearlly done with the angel hehe :)
She looks great, really nice hair. I prefer the dress of the number 3 ;)

Something disturb me a bit, i don't know if it has been already asked (I haven't read all the replies, shame on me  ) , but i don't like the legs/sheet junction... You will maybe mask it with some fx, smoke or anything else..and if it is, forget this comment ;)
Otherway, you could also get the transition upper (as on a siren), or under the dress ;)
Just my opinion ;)

I will try to comme see what's going on more often :bounce:
Allez courage, on en voit le bout tout doucement :)

Hi, Laurent, this new concept is a really good idea - but also seems to be pretty challenging to finish this just in time:eek: ...I know you are a fast worker and you can use all the stuff you made so far...so if you think you can make it: wonderful concept, much better than the last one in my opinion:thumbsup: ! Go with it!:bounce:

Dimitris -> You like this story more... thanks... I don't search more then... :)

Gunilla -> haha... you like it too... your advice is always very important for me... good point.
About "us" as spectators ? I don't know... why ? simply as lot of spectator perhaps think they don't need to learn more, to need more knowledge... I know lot of guys wich think to already have the good manner to think, and the only good knowledge. I know they aren't the real good spectators for my pic, must I must think to them... to help them to understand the picture... ? not ?
But you're totally right... we all need more knowledge, we're the ideal spectators...

SuperXCM -> Thanks for advice Simon... new story and #4... noted

Scootermaya -> Thanks Michel... :beer:

Agamemnwn -> 4 for you... well thanks Jannis.

Rattlesnake -> It's your choice, number 3... it's surely a good choice, as it's near of the first version... Happy that you like the new story, thanks Jorge.

Makaron -> hahahaha... you're right dear... totally... and why not photos of CG judges... to be sure to don't have any award... :scream: hahahaha

Rattlesnake -> finally with less wrinkles... okay... you finally joined the majority... :bounce:

mmoir -> Thanks for your comment and your advice Mike, really appreciated...

Sonia -> Yes girl... I will go to ruin a part of the library... but not all... I must keep a clean knowledge part... something clean and pure... ok for #4... thanks... :wavey:

Madlight_1988 -> Thanks Ali, glad you like too the new story... finally, It's certaibly the good choice, just hope to have time to finish now... I'm late...

Goul -> About the transition, your feeling is certainly to the fact we're not near of the final framing... position where is put the differents sheets of paper... and in that was appear better... and about smoke or other things... yes, in the final scene... there's around her many magical stuffs... certainly good for that knid of details. Thans for you councils mate.

DaWinky -> Well... I think to have more envy to follow this way than finishing in time... I think that I can, even if I don't have lot of time to work on the project... I must trying in this way... In any case, even if the pic will be not finish... I can do anyway a quick finishing image before the end.

Nemirc -> :beer:

Normally, I will try to post something soon... I started to work this night on the new environment (no render for the moment)... not so much... because a problem with the baby... I finally sleep only 2 hours this night... :argh:

Before texturing... as I've done with the architecture part, I start to work on bump and displacement... to have the control of the matter, and only after to have the feeling about the color textures and the mood required.

Maybe change a little bit the stone appearance...

The part of backghround just behind the weel it very simple, because not a lot will be view with the library walls...

You know... for the moment, lighting is very simple... always a kind of hemi-domlight... in depthmap shadows... colored... and 1 spot in RT... that's all... rendering with Maya softawe, nothing more... I must manage my old poor computer if I don't want to have some incredibles render time.

Not yet... deadline is for the nov14 and remain 6 scenes to do... I will have certainly 2 or 3 days of work late... and 1 week of rendering late... but with that knid of impossible delays... I've done my best... and my computers too :scream:
And the worse... just after this film, I will have an another one... not with less work... to finish for the end 2005... :banghead:

And now, I re-post the new story :

And any spectacle need for spectators, who will be the witnesses of the spectacular... these privileged spectators will be pigmés or aboriginals...

...when the culture meet the knowledge.

nebezial -> thanks for advice mate, for the moment, I don't think to decrease it, cause you said it, it's the background... and it will be covered by vegetation... in fact, not so much vegetation, but much trees, very much trees sad trees... certainly without leaves (some dry lianas, and why not, some dry fruits as NUTS)... behind all these trees, and behind the library's ruins... just some little parts of background risk to be view... you will see Stjepan... and you will say me if the result will be good... thanks to take time for remarks buddy...

It's mixed Thierry... procedural for displacement, bump is a blend of procedural and map, 2dwork for color...
Global update... don't know... I must finish the trees and vegetation... ruined the library... and at this time... I can setup the architecture with the background (next week for the better)...
After that, I must work on the blue birds and flying runes, place the angel an create all magical effects...

DaddyMack -> the reason... maybe there's three reasons in fact...
- the first : I watch many documentation about australian and african types of trees, cause I've planed to have a mix between the both (remember the story, with pigmes or aborigenes)...
- the second : I dreamed of this shape...
- the third : for the moment, it missed the little branches more... I'm waiting when all trees will be in the scene to add that only on the foreground trees, if it's really necessary...

.. for the new story... well... I think it`s a too artistic way... difficult to show this in an image... but maybe I`m wrong... the previous story and environment was more iconic and easier to read.

Glad you like that Gunie... finally, I take more pleasure with the environment now than with the character... too much work, too long time, too much tweaking, too much tests... finally, I'm not very patient, I prefer so far to have visible advancement... as with this details...

About ferns... I know... I'm a little bit ashame... only few polys... no modeling for each leaves or branches... it's not really LeNut I think... but the scene is already very heavy (for the moment, not all elements inside 1 scene... better to work easily...)

Madlight_1988 -> hahaha... no man... just some sad trees... hahahaha

JamesMK -> Haha... I know that usually you prefer more hard lights... but for the moment, the lighting is just a way... but not the final one... need to add the rest of the scene... the library, the angel... with her magic lighting effects... and that certainly change all the ligthing... just try to keep a part of this actual sad aspect blend with something more magical, with more ray lights, more hard shadows... But for the moment, it's to early to ty to set something... I must do before some new test of light and effects... with a low scene...

About branches... the most important are in nurbs... but all the little branches are not polygons, but PaintFX... a post-fx of Maya... very praticle for that kinf of effects...

Grorum -> Merci, heureux que ça te plaise Jean-claude... ++

Dern -> Thanks for your advice Darren... about background... for the moment, I don't know... I must wait the final step to setup the scene when all elements will be together... but I will certainly darker it a little, to keep a good contrast with the library... thanks again...

DaddyMack -> Oooh your words are very sweet for me Robert... I hope that we will have soon a good idea of all elements together... I've already the exact vision in my mind... but the most complicated remain to do... that this idea correspond to the result... Thanks man

gardogg -> Thanks Gary... about the tree design, and particulary the low part wit the special fat size... I was inspiring by many species of exotic trees... as for the moment I'm not really sure about between pigmees or aborigens, I do a for these trees... remember, we are not in the "true" reality"... and when I do it, I'm searching in first a certain design...

(o)ne -> héhé... I'm back Stepan... 3 days without computer... but 3 days very full for me... but now, I can continue on the project... and continue to follow yours... seeya mate...

Makaron -> Hahah... just beginning these birds this night... no time this week-end to do more... but now... I'm free to continue... kisses to the GP's :wavey:

Gunilla -> Yes Gunie... restarting here... I'm don't know very well birds... it's my second one... a new discovering for me... but I have a precise idea... just that I hope it was a good idea... :scream:

Nemirc -> Don't be lost my friend... just remain me these birds to do... and the pigmees... after that, I can think to the "together" steps...

Feathers... ? I don't think to do real feathers... in fact, these birds must be magical... they make live the knowledge...
I've planed to create a procedural 3d shader for feathers... I hope that can be good... for these glowy-bluebirds...

I can't beleive you are actually really doing a blue bird ! (you must have been thraumatised by something at the SATIS ! :scream: )
For the feathers, you could try maybe some great paint effect feathers ??? no? (there are blue ones I think):bounce:

Love that piece with the vegetation, the mood is great and the level of details is crazy, it could have been done in ZB, but I guess it's not:banghead: . Marvelous work Laurent:bounce::)

About feathers... I do many test with PaintFX... the result doesn't agree me... not the best way for me... (even if I've planed to use it)
They will be in nurbs + procedural stuff...

thierry2005 -> You're right... no ZB for me... I'm really "une tanche" with this soft... a real shame... I test it many times... (I've win a licence of it in a challenge...), but without good result for the moment... but I will test another time... I must be able one day...
Thanks for your comments about environment

daWinky -> sure... wings can help this bird a lot... he seem really naked... and then... no wings... no chokolade :scream:
10 minutes serious... too long for me :banghead: I can't resist...

Hahahaha... doesn't be disappointed man... the project is not completely different... but now, we have something as ruins, or parts of library... a symbole of knowledge... in a sad forest... always the angel with her book... and some blue birds are leaving out the book for spreading knowledge... maybe a little bit confuse quickly explained... but in the final... I think that will be more clear, more simple... thanks for your interest
