As you mentioned hands won't be visible too much in your final scene, so no crits, in that case it looks fine to me:thumbsup:

your girlfriend guide is french ?

oh no, shes Mexican like me, but shes studying French,

Ok about those hands, like them a lot, but the bones looks too hard ( in my opinion:)), maybe relaxing a bit that area will help.

Very accurate navel there

And I think you got the right style for the hands... very delicate, it will go well with your vision for her.
I'd get rid of the bikini though :D

***

On the other hand, Im going to make the bad girl :p, but the part above fallanges, in the lower extremity of fingers, would be not too much stood out in this position ?

At least, you doest more persuade me things like that
Youll see if yourent good in organic (this one, im gonna to take out everyday huhu)

:thumbsup:T'es un cramé de la 3d, la racaille du poly, et continue comme ça

Hey... you're a good one Cadet... I'm just waiting this question since I post this picture...

That appear strange, I know... it's only cause I composite the normal rendering with a "vector render"... sometimes a little bit strange... it's not a snap of the real wire

Hey, nice work! Hands are not that easy to model (huhu, I had to model feet for my first Edit Poly exercise, it was -er- last year; don't care, recall memories), and you manage to do it very well. Just a little crit concerning nails, they're too "square" on the base, they have weird corners. I don't know if I managed to say what I wanted to say, I forgot my dictionnary :) and I don't wanna cheat and telling it in French, that would be too easy.

Go on, my french friend, I love your work!

Lemog
10-12-2005, 01:21 PM
Flaeticia -> thanks for good explanations

Cadet -> j'vais ptête vous laisser entre vous :scream:

Agou -> You're totally right about nails... you also see other "low" or "too much visibles polygon" parts on these hands and this body... in fact, for the moment, I only work with a very low smooth... iteration at 1... just to manage my PC, my time and my nerves :bounce:
I think that will be better with something more smooth... I reserved that for the final way...
Good observation girl... don't hesitate to point my errors... it's not always easy to have a objective sight of our own work... thanks a lot Sophie... :wavey:

My first idea was to come over and spank him, but from your description it doesn't sound like a good idea .... :scream:
He doesn't sound like a very good director since I assume downloading amateur porn isn't a part of the business plan?

Congrats! The hands are coming along pretty nice:thumbsup: ! The only disturbing thing is this hard line as a finger joint on the top middle of the finger. It's ok on the palm, but looks a little strange on the top. Have you tried to make it more smooth...?

a lot of hands, a lot of ?... choklade? :bounce:

the basicform of the hands to your Angel is looking good to me, in fact they look like mine own :) haha

one tiny thing that come to my mind is the "knuckle" at the joint between the wrist and hand is missing. I don´t see the "bump" on the "outside" of her wrist there... But this is when I compare it with on my hands, not sure of the "commen" look tho.

I know what your saying man, i find hands the most difficult thing to do, its like the old saying goes "i know it like the back of my hand" so any little thing that looks off will be picked up straight away...

Zapan
10-13-2005, 07:13 PM
well all is good for me now, I could neatpicking anyway but thinking about the composition , the size , the camera angle , and stuff I guess you have enough details in your scene to not pay attention to these tiny tiny things in these fingers.
So to sum up I guess you can continue you incredible work without being bored by these hands.

Go go go Laurent keep on rocking :buttrock:

Just before to go to the bed... update...

Just beginnig the head... I know for the moment, it's not masterpiece, that need lot of work.

Just to have some proportion of the shape.

Don't take care to the triangulation, it's again a compositing of a vector render... ;-)

Hands look geat. Only small crit is that the nails are very flat. I always have this problem when modeling nails into hands. I tend to invert the nail vertices on the finger itself and use seperate objects for the nails themsleves and slot them in. Maybe not too much of an issue if these are going to be small but just a thought.

Good start on the head, keep 'em coming...

Hey, your wallpaper is quite funny! And your work is going on in a fast way (in my mind). Still, I would make some crits concerning the anatomy of your "wisdom angel" ; shoulders are too large and -dunno the english word for it- "taille" is too thin. But it's not important if your angel had clothes, whatever it is, a pink dress or a white toga. :)

However you are winning the most important prize I think : having the most popular thread of this challenge. I can't believe it sometimes, one day you reply at page 82 and the day after, you are at page 92! So, go on, I want to see at least 200 pages of replies up to december!:bounce:

Hi Lemog,

see your up-date. very nice, but.... Maybe? you can correct the corner of the mouth (too sharp) and the down lip must have more volume on it's way to the corner. But it's only my opinion.

Cheers

Before continuing to tweak head details... needed to add ears and something in the mouth... to a better perception about proportions.

I do the first ear... and I'm not very satisfied about it, and I do a second one... just want to know what of the both you prefer... thanks a lot !

Ears! In my opinion even more difficult than hands:eek: ...I would prefer the second version:) , looks more natural to me, but it should be a little smaller, äh..don't know the right word...the distance between the two main shapes on the right side is better in the first version. Hope you understand...I should take a look in a dictionary....

You're totally right about mouth... I change a little near... but not too much largely... less griped edges.
For the nose, it's a choice... I'm inspired by Mucha's girl who have very thin nose like that... that appear maybe a little strange, little different, but I think with the other parts if the head, that's will be okay...

Heeyyaaa Lemog... Her face is coming together in a most angelic manner... My only suggestion would be to refine her look a little further... Take some reference from a real female you'd like her to represent a little and tweek some of her features a bit.. She's pretty but she has the potential (and the right) to be a truly glorious beauty

Also my friend, for the eyes, I found these two tuts most helpful
http://www.3dtotal.com/team/tutorials/antro_eye1/antro_eyemod_01.asp
http://www.3dtotal.com/team/tutorials/antro_eye2/antro_eyetex_01.asp

The first is kinda a generic eye modelling tut... pretty standard stuff but the second is a great step by step to creating a beautiful iris, pupil and eyeball texture... Both by Antropus..

I kept my original eyeball texture file in layers and every time I want a character with different eyes I tweek colours and the look of it to suit... very handy.. Good luck!:buttrock:

Hehe that's coming along nicely :)
The mouth area is awsome

Some things to fix i think :
- the ears are a bit too smalls and should maybe be upper on the head.. I've in mind than the center of the ear is at the same height than the center of the eye.
- you should refine the eye area, give her better eyelids(she can't close her eyes for the moment)..It will give her more personality.
- the nose holes are a bit too round (doesn't matter but.. :p )
- there is light in her nose no? (it's an angel..but.. well.. :D)

Lemog

Daddycool -> thanks daddy... I know this tut of Kris... in fact, my refs can appear very strange... a drawing academic book mixed with Mucha's art... that can explain certain choice... for the other parts... more tweaking operations comes...

Goul -> ears are small as ones of Gunilla (j'invente pas, celle elle qui l'a dit plus haut...:D )... and appear to low, cause her head is little turn behind, you can see that in the profil view (elle a le buste en avant avec le livre devant elle, et j'ai déjà essayé dans tenir compte, c'est vrai que c'est trompeur)...
Eyelids are planed for tomorrow, texture ? modeling ? paintFX ?

Zapan -> You' right about the nose... it appear very thin and gripped... as I said before, ot's choose of design... as the Mucha's representation of women, with a nose very straight and thin... I think that will be less disturbing with the other elements of her.

Versiden -> I think the difference is increase by the focal... just take a look to the next pic... I think to don't be far of something good, not ?
But if you want, you can draw as you want on my pics... thanks Martin

raistlin5 -> thank you for the drawing Vince, but you know, I had some references nevertheless, look at the images which follow, I don't think of being too far away from reality.
I must acknowledged to have modified certain parts, in order to resemble to these women represented by Mucha.
That can appear rather strange, but I think that with the next elements, that will be it less, finally I hope.
Should a little be forgotten the current references. Because I will try to give him a particular style, I made certainly only 20 or 25% of work on it for the moment.
Moreover, I think that on his face, more diverting, they is certainly these eyebrows, very high and very right, but if one looks at attentively, one can see that the arcade sourcilière is in her good place.
I nevertheless will advance a little the ears, but not too much...
Thanks to take time copain :bounce:

more about her face proportion...

Lemog
10-18-2005, 05:13 AM
About reference proportion... my base :

Size of Head: The distance from the chin to the crown is the same as from the back of the head to the front. Features take up only a small portion of the head; a lot of space is needed for the brain! The mid-point of the face, when measured from chin to crown, is at the base of the eyes or eye sockets.

Eyes: The space between the eyes is about the same width as one eye. If the width of eye is used as a unit of measurement, the head is five eyes wide.

Eyebrows: extend beyond the eyes on both sides.

Ears: The top of the ears line up with the brow of the nose and the eyebrows, and the bottom of the ears with the tip of the nose.

Nose: The bottom of the nose is the midpoint between the eyes and the chin.

Mouth: The corners of the mouth align with the centre of the eyes (if you're not smiling). The line where the two lips meet is slightly above the halfway point between the end of the nose and the chin.

Chin: The mound of the chin starts at the inner corners of the eyes.

Good Morning u NUT ! :) ....Guide Face looks fine ...(only the lower teeth needs a bit scaling down..as someone else mentioned) . A good idea , to give her more personality is to sculpt her overall with Artisan a bit. ;)

Have a nice day Laurent. :wavey:

Attached on the haid, with diadem of flowers and curls falling down would look swell I think
heyhey... curls... that makes me crack  hahahaha

hmmm, she seems a bit cross-eyed to me, maybe she been reading to much...
you're right, but generally, we're not appear very intelligent when we are viewing totally of front. :D
but I like the grey shade of her eyes... you never guess who have grey eyes, Lemog... haha
Hahaha... I have a little idea about that :scream:

overall, with this other changes you are about to make... she is well on her way to get a angel-like face
Thanks girl

Hahahaha, just now imagined how she would look with those hairs on my character
We can try that soon if you want ? :bounce: :D hahahaha

morning ;p
ok, from the guides it looks cool.. ignore what i said ;p
No mate, I understand your vision... camera angle and focal lenght don't help us in this case... thanks for your interest :wavey:

Raistlin -> t'inquiètes pas... les oreilles, je vais les avancer d'1cm... pour le reste, tu dois bien te douter que je suis pas 100% en freestryle, même si j'aime conserver une part de sponatanéité...
don't worry, the ears, I will advance them of 1cm... for the remainder, you must suspect well that I'm not 100% in freestryle, even if I like to preserve a part of sponataneity :scream: héhé
And I'm not perfect... and angel too are not always perfect...

Dimis -> Good morning to you too man (is it really the morning here ? :wise: )
I reserved the artisan operation for the moment when I have all parts of her head... to increase the personality... hairs are needed before that I think... :buttrock:

Alex -> stop with these teeth  hahahahaha

heyhey... curls... that makes me crack  hahahaha

What? To hard to model or what? :scream: Come on - you could do it!

Looks like everyone is nagging you about the teeth ... strange, since they aren't even glowing yet :D

And for the teeth, I think it could be enough to instead of lower them just make them more narrow, like this >-< Did you understand what I mean?

Ah well, you'll figure it out

haha, poor you - having a bad day? :) this (http://www.promdressshop.com/Promtips/images/krycurl1.jpg) is what I meant with curls ( perhaps it's called something else - I might have a bad language day too)
And this (http://www.promdressshop.com/Promtips/images/krycurl4.jpg) might be a nice hair for her... with diadem for sure.

Are you going to move your teeth on Saturday? Why?

and I promise not to try to explain things with signs anymore - at least not today :scream:

Well... it remain much modifications... but at this step... it's better I wait hairs... and remain parts of the body.

That will be certainly easyer to take the good choice.

here is a makeup-tips to Lemog, :) when you pick "your" eyebrows...
Draw a straight line up from the innercorner of the eye and there the eyebrow should start, and draw a line from the nostril to outercorner of the eye, in that line the eyebrow should end... you been picking hers a little to much now... the shape is good tho... :bounce:

Hi Laurent,

waooouwww, it's become really really good, like the stairs and the "decor", i miss it, really good work.
The body look good too! :bounce:
For the face, just the upper lips disturb me, it seems to not be enough "detach" from the rest, i think if it wasn't red, i don't see it correctly, just my 2cent... anyway, you've done an amazing work, on the scene, i'm waiting to see update.

Ok my friend, modeling is fine !
I think you are in the same trouble than me ! Not enough organic modeling to take it cool ! I use to be very stressed when I have to model a human...
As Dimitris said, maybe U should use artisan to shape the geometry a bit, to her more personality.
Artisan is a sort of Zbrush for the ones who didn't know it... Mouahah !
I promise that this Xmas, Santa claus will put in your Socks some cool DVD to be the best friend of ZB...

SuperXCM -> You're certainly right about the upper lips... the shape is a little "timid"... in, other hand, she will not see of profile... if I can do something later, I will modify that. Thanks for your 2cents man... and I'm happy to see you another time with us all :)

gpepper -> hahahaha... stressed ? I don't know if it's the good words, but one thing is sure, I take less pleasure, cause we must obliged to pass long time on little details... I prefer to built some real moods, but she's a important part of this mood this time... I hope I will take more pleasure with the next clothing steps... to finish her... Thanks Santa Claus

Zapan -> not on me cadet :argh: :wip: hahahaha

Imbusion -> Thanks, but for the moment, I don't take my final decision about hairs... I must do some test aspect before... and that certainly give me the good way to follow... Thanks for your interest Jeff :wavey:
