Makes sense not bringing in winter here... how about making it a kind of tree with very bright branches? I'm sure there are that kind of trees somewhere ... and by making them bright but not white the sad mood could still be there, right?

Ooh - so is it pigmee time now? :bounce:

And if you're not making pigmees, perhaps some garden gnomes?

hahaha, I'll stop now - promise :scream:
Hahaha... don't stop... thanks to you... I found a new evolution for the story... exit the pigmees... and welcome the young wild children... between prehistorical children and lost children of Peter Pan... maybe that appear less strange and les contrasted than pigmees... but like that, I can keep some frost touch, and these nowhere children...
That can works good... what do you think about that ?

I'm really happy to know you Gunie... you manage well my mind

Hi Lemog,
I like the image, I wish the center of interest would be more in the middle.
And I think that motion blur in a 3D still is very difficult, less is more.
And one more, there is a column in the middle that is overthrown.
This column stops visuell the motion of your angel.
There's a reason about the actual center of insterest that is little high... I've planed to add some guys in the low parts... previously some pigmees, but that certainly change in children...
I understand your point of view about the blur... but without... all the pic remain very static... and I need some details wich contrast like that, if not... no motion... and no understandable things...
But for the moment, you based your comments on the last small rendering... largely photoshoped... I hope to have something more "thin" anc more "clear" with the final renders...
About the column... your the first who's disturbing by it... maybe you're right... I really don't know... perhaps I can reduce this odd vision while compositing... or... I must change of camera framing...
Thanks for you advice Ralf... you always have an objective vision... I know that

A great lesson for me to watch how you bring all these together:bowdown: ...again nothing to crit, the more I look at it, the more I like it, colors are coming along very good, I like this blue-ish touch.
Still curious to see the final additions...:)

(mmmh... the Photoshop file comes to be heavy... argh :argh:

Yes! I'm happy about the idea of lost prehistoric kids - very good! It will show the message clearly without involving a specific culture - bravo :applause:

Oh my god.. what has heappend in here.

Shame on me 4 my spare visits during the last few weeks. I was so busy with my own work that i missed the whole cool stuff... dam! :banghead:

You are so awesome.. and so fast..., that´s impossible... dit you ever sleep?!
Or maybe you are what i have somehow assumed... The dark lord of CGI http://www.kira-network.com/pics/vader.gif

AWESOME PROGRESS and realy great environment.

(maybe a hint: how about if the Angle illuminates the environment?!
let´s say it´s more close to dawn with very low ambient light... and the Angle has some kind of blue/green glow that illuminates the close surrounding objects. This could give the scene a bit more atmosphere and to get the creeps when you are looking at it?!)

Nethertheless... Stunning! Awesome! and absolut perfect!
Keep it on Friend!
only 14 Days left!

mmoir -> Thanks for wishes Mike... thanks for your words, I really appreciate.

Vampeta -> thanks for the idea Alex, in fact, remain me some parts to add, as magical effect and other stuff... then, for the moment, I don't know if It's time to change a lot the lighting... I've plane to do a test... to have something a little bit more dramatic, with a scene map, a kind of rendering of illuminated and shadowed part of all the scene, and to composite it at final, but I can't do that if I don't have all the details in the scene... Thanks for you thoughts and your wishes my friend...

Elendil -> Je suis vraiment très heureux que le process t'intéresse Nicolas... vraiment merci pour ton soutien. J'espère que le résultat final sera à à la hauteur de tes attentes.

(o)ne -> hahaha... thanks Stepan... (har to find new words my friend... you can try in your maternal langage then...:argh: )

Rebeccak -> The big day... not yet Beckie (if I can continue to say it...)... more details are required to gain my spare time... I'm happy to discover your new avatar... really FOFLMKAO... really you

Euphrosyne -> Thanks for you pretty words Patti... I'm horored you like my work on this project... :arteest:

Rattlesnake -> Thanks... glad you like Jorge ;)

Zapan -> easy ? not always... but I try to simplify the process... clean work permit to do more with less... hahahaha...

Prehistoric kids... you doesn't miss so much things Cadet... it's just a new idea found yesterday, thanks to Mum... with her frost idea... and of course... no frost with pigmees... then... Wild Children can be okay with the story...

BlueBirds addition... now 13 bluebirds... with the new one one the knowledge book corner.

Bluebirds are on 3 layers, in the order, first normal, second with directional blur with decay, third with gaussian blur, for the kind of halo effect.

come along very nice lemog!, and I agree with alex, that the bird , lady ,can be a light source that effect environment , and now I feel a book page is heavy and small like a page of pocket book , for me the ancient book should have a big page ( I think) and now it's bend in one direction maybe you can add bend deformer to it in anothter direction , it's great to see the development of this great cgart! mate!

Another stunning update! New position of the bird reads a lot better - great!

I also find Alex idea of making her slightly selfilluminated interesting - but perhaps it's already planned for in the magis stuff. And I'm sooo curious about your vision of the pre-hist kids - any chance you will have them up this week? :bounce:

Very nice progress here. Now that you mentioned color correction, I do notice that the trees seem very desaturated. So do the architecture. But this can be a good thing I suppose because it focuses the viewer's attention on the main character.

(o)ne -> you're right Stepan, these birds are certainly the most important part of the story :)

makaron -> yes, nr13 is the stronger bird of the band... the boss... the master of knowledge maybe... helping the angel... or the only one who know to read :surprised hahaha

come along very nice lemog!, and I agree with alex, that the bird , lady ,can be a light source that effect environment,
I understand totally... I will make my possible, in other hand, a environment too much affected with lights can decrease the contrast with the angel... must find the good setup...

and now I feel a book page is heavy and small like a page of pocket book , for me the ancient book should have a big page ( I think)
When I do these book... I have a precise idea about these books, also used some references... these books are here only to constinute the knowledge Angel legs... and I don't planed knowledge especially very old or very ancient... not especially very big... good konwledge doen't need to be big, but be of quality... I must aknowledge... it's here only my vision and my thought...

Thanks for your ideas concerning my project Monsit... always welcome... I hope the final lighting can agree you a little more... thanks

We will see soon about the light result...
About these kids... yes, I have many ideas... but I must choose the most fast to realize now...
...this week ? really don't know  don't think...

gardogg -> and I think that these trees will be more again desatured... for the next addition... frost :wise: but not too much anyway...

gpepper -> no major update you know... not lot of work... only Photoshop assembly... I must start the kid modeling... but to be sure before about their design, but they will be only view of the back... fortunetely for me...

SONIC-X -> 2 weeks... that comes good... :scream:

WHOAH!... Leaps and bounds here mate!:wise: You've been exceptionally thorough in your creation so far mate... Congratulations on pushing this as far as you already have:applause:

I fumble around your image for a critique and the only thing I can think of is to give her body a little bit more of a feeling of motion... like the pages of her legs look like she's rising but her body looks comparitively static... Maybe simply a slight motion trail from some points on her body... dunno... I find the initial impact of this image quite overwhelming Laurent... Spectacular;)

my first thought now is, poor Angel of Knowledge, such a little dress, looks cold in her forest...
but that´s me, I hate winter and frost... haha... :D
But it looks good with all that frost... :bounce: just don´t hide the libairy too much...
really wanna see how you gonna put in those little people later...

Good morning Laurent! For each visit my smile gets bigger - the last magic particles makes it all look like a scene from an old fairy tale... makes the child within me curious and exited.
Good luck with the Wildkids ... hmmm..."Wildkids", maybe you should have them dressed as punks? :D :applause:
Hahaha... good morning honey, I'm very happy if your smile grow all the days...
WildKids as punks ?, it's a solution... but I've planed something different... more "nature"... I don't know if hoolygans is the better solution... and hoolygans don't like frost I think...
No, I've planed 5 kids at least... representating people of all around the world... black, white, yellow, red, and in the middle... :D
or, kids of the five continents...
...and to rest really "nature", no clothes... or moreover natural clothes, in leaves, grass, straw, and over bushes... and why not... mud and dirtiness :scream:

Good morning, Laurent!

I always thought you had already magic in your picture before...but now you've put just the right amount of obvious magic in there:thumbsup: . It's really beautiful and I love it...and you're still pushing it forward, it's hard to believe that there is still a range to improve the picture, but I'm sure you'll surprise me another time:) ...!

I don't know for you... but these latest days appear very slow for me, don't know why... maybe I'm start ot be out of order ...

I'm sharing this feeling...some people have already finished, others are waiting for their final renderings or working with high pressure...so the challenge is turning to it's end:sad: . I also feel slowly and hanging in the air a little bit...I just can't wait to finish, there's already a lot of other stuff waiting and I want to begin something new...on the other hand I know that I will miss all this a lot, for example my daily morning review of your latest updates:D ...

SuperXCM -> yes Simon, now it's near to be finish... just remain me the kids... and some latest adjustements... and we can go on other projects... thanks to appreciate my project mate

daWinky -> Good morning Sabie... I'm very happy that you like the magical stuff in the picture... As always, before posting, I'm not really sure... but you reassure me... and for surprise even more... I think now, that will be possible only with the WildKids... too late to change the story now... but why not, another idea is always possible, and often, thanks to you all... with your good councils and remarks... just need to do the good choice between these ideas...
And about the end of this kind of challenge... It's my fourth here... and it's always the same feeling at the final... can't finish here, certainly afraid by the remaining hole after... an odd feeling, each time... as a fall... but it's certainly normal... we put on our project much of us, much of our mind, much of our energy... and when all stoped... it's the falling... even if I have already a big project planed...
But I can affirm that each time, I have to gain new many friends, and that, it's incomparable.
The most great motivation... to retry with the next challenge, even it's not always easy to find time... but the passion is always stonger than me and my life... and I wish the same for everybody here

Good morning Gunie... héhé... yes... only four kids left... and rigging so...

Are you going to use different kinds of clothes depending on continent they come from?
Yes... of course... different types of clothes with the continent of origin, different grass or leaves... differents styles and color of hairs too...
The next one... a black kid... certainly dressed with a blend of dry grass and exotic feathers...

If you have some ideas about the 3 kids remaining, suggestion are welcome...
remain america - asia - oceania... I also need a least of one girl in the group (or more, why not)... and choose theirs design...

I hope to have finish the 5 wildkids for tomorrow night... I'm not here of all the week-end...

...and 5... about the wold 5 continents... all people are representing here... all people are concerning... I hope too that the final picture remain understandable... we will see... but I will try to keep these Wilkids very simple... very basic...

Yes Sabie... I think that these guys can give the life to the scene... the flying-boosheet-woman is only an angel... living or not... I'm sure now that they will be a good addition in my scene...

Well... the night finish very bad... in first... I saw in my file that I lose the hairs for the asian girl... but also hairs of the african kid... I have againt the stroke of its... but nothing in the render... must redo that :banghead:
It's certainly my fault... I'm working on all these kids in the same file... bad idea at first view...

I try to fix these äintFX probs... and I come back with the asian girl and maybe the american guy...

Lemog
11-25-2005, 03:19 PM
Alan -> totally that, you're right... I draw curve around the kid... and apply some PaintFX stroke around... easy to do... but not always easy to set... and even very heavy for my computer and my graphic card... each render test can be very long... I just hope that can give an interesting result in the final scene...
...but sometimes, with certain strokes, there's some probs... strokes have disappear when I re-open the file... I hope to fix that, that arrive only with hairs, never with plant/clothes... strange...

(o)ne -> Thanks dude... the last one comes now...

alancamara
11-25-2005, 03:39 PM
Really. The fact the paint fx is like a creasy horse, some times show unsual results. what render you'll use ? Default or MR?But, I'm liking of the result, but be carefull about the density of the strokes :) Keep going

Gunilla -> Good morning Gunie... I was thinking about seashells... yes finally, that can works... thanks to you of course... I do some test, but my shells are not very good or risk to appear very strange in the final picture... You can see in the next update, an another version of the little oceanian guy, with very little seashell, seaweed, red coral and starfish... to choose the best one of the both...

Gardogg -> You're totally right... good observation... but you know, all these 5 kids are based on the same geometry, and if this one have a difference face, it's really a choice... he can have more personality and to be older than the others... It's maybe the grand brother...

PhilPJ -> No my friend, imagination don't stop, you know, it's really normal... in that 3 months challenge, that give lot of time to think... more time to think than to create also. I'm very glad you like in any case... Thanks to support me here my friend...

I think you lost a little the addition and modification about the story, I will post all that soon... with the final picture.

SoniaAlwaysVeryRed -> you see girl... the latest guy have hairs little bit red

3d-empire -> a home for them ? certainly the Uncle Tom Cabin, not ?

DaddyMack -> Thanks Robert

SuperXCM -> I'm curious too to see the result with these kids in the scene... I hope to start test in 2 days...

Glenn23 -> A little sentence of you, and that appear like something great for me... Thank you a lot Glenn... it's an honor to hear that about my work... really thanks... but you know, I've discover your work, and you're right, at first view, you are in your less elements in your scene, but it's not the finality. I find in your work and in your picture lot of sensitive, and the realization is perfect, you have done something strong and beautiful... congratulations to you then !

Rattlesnake -> yes, final is closer... I hope to add all I want in this scene in the remaining time... normally, it's possible...

Gpepper -> Why not Gilles... it's certainly an another message in the scene, but with also the knowledge for everybody, a kind of "knowledge for the world"... hahaha... you make me laugh with this word "CGfraternity"... but that can be true finaly... we're all friends here, not ?

makaron -> morning you :wavey: maybe the new one for you... and finally, the one of ilusiondigital is very good too, not ?

ilusiondigital -> Thanks for Photoshoping my friend... this one is very interesting too... more complicated, but more complete... with more different stuff... why not... thanks Victor... I certainly try today to do the test in Maya...
In any case and any choice... I must rig them today... all the 5 wildkids... to start the placement tomorrow... :)

Nice variation:thumbsup: ! I like both of them and I also like the mentioned mix:rolleyes: ...perhaps you should make the kids not sooo different, I'm always afraid that every addition with just more stuff could disturb the balance...or coherence? ...of your scene. Hope you know what I'm thinking of:shrug: ...We will see it, if you put them in the scene...:)

Yes... I understand very well... if I follow your thoughts... the best solution is certainly the first one...

Surely... but if I put this kid in the scene, I must rig him before... and I think to doesn't have time after that, to change the type of stroke... because that oblige me to do another rig for him with new FX... it's the reason I prefer to do the choice before...
In over hand, maybe this guy will be not very visible... not the totality of him...
and maybe the choice is not very important... just a little, just for the pleasure to know how this kid is made, and the reason why is made like that... :scream:

I will start to rig the 4 other kids before... and finish by this one...

Thanks for help and thoughts Sabie

Hey Laurent, still adding characters and details, wow! You'll be working on it like Leonardo on Monalisa haha! :scream: at least for another week instead of years!

Great little characters, looking forward to see how you'll integrate them in the final pic.

Your thread will have been fun and great to watch till the end!

Cheers! :)

Hmmm... difficult choice. I love the new kid - he's adorable! He looks like he was coming directly from a coral reef... very sweet.
But as Sabia and you says, maybe that makes him stick out to much? Since they all are in a forrest and the other kids have more forrest like stuff on ...
Perhaps just keeping the seastar in his hair and give him a bracelet with seashells?
I understand your tiredness today - it's been a long and intense challenge and also lots of other work - you have done miracles in workload lately! Soon it's over and you can move on to more pleasant stuff... website update? :D:scream:

You're so pretty with your words and encouragements Gunie... I will continue with the 4 kids... rig them... put them in the scene... and see where the last one can go... and eventually modify him in function of his place, before to skin him... that give me some time for the choice...

Sounds like a good plan - maybe you don't even have to rig him?

Regarding the encouragement ... it's probably because of me still being in Mummy mood. Expect it to go away after the challenge

yes, better and better, I like the left wildkid, the first, looks to me like a bit "brazilian carnaval", and the second i think more inside the scene styles, just a opinion. Keep going

I think to be obliged to find the pose in fonction of the good position in the scene... final aspect also depend of the lights and shadows...
...I will try to work much on these little guys next night... maybe something for tomorrow then... :)
