Ok, I had this long post written and then my internet decided to just dump it all in the trashbin. Well anyways. I had basically written that your concept rocks and that there are many possebiletes to where you may take this, for instance the perspective like, Inside from the office down on the street or top down. Really interesting concept. Best of luck in this contest mate.

Cheers

Very cool concept, and the angle works well - a real "moment" there. I guess it could be done from a side-below looking-up kind of angle as well, with a lot of sky and zillions of pieces of debris flying... Either way it would be really cool.

I think the image would work better taken at a later time (when the car crashes / lands in the office from the building at the other side.

View: out of the office where the car crashes in.
BG: Building with hole from where the car came from.

What ya think? Maybe a bit difficult...

Neat idea however, I've seen the exact angle and scene in the matrix reloaded. Trinity busts through a window center like. The only difference is the car. You would really need to push it in order for it to look different. Not to bring your idea down but I think you would have to work really hard to make it unique being that the matrix franchise is overblown.

There were a few scenes I saw in those movies that I remember thinking about four or five years prior and when I saw them in those films I was completely put out. Keep trying though!

yeah something in the classic action movie style like LW4 or Matrix in this kind of direction... For me this will be something totally new (image style), agree that can be a little bit cliché but this kind of 'action scene' can be always spectacular. And well environment it will be very important in this image...

::se7enthcin
also like I asnwered at Gilles (up) yes is kinda LW4 and Matrix like I wrote...I'm aware and I didn't blame myself! I used a hollywood cliché in this kind of concept I know, but I think is possible to create something inetresting from this idea. I was attracted by this kind of action and camera view... But LW4 and Matrix are not the only one, how many TV serial, how many action movier are in parallel/near/similar at what I did... a lot. Now all small details, environment, the action defined etc will create something more unique and spectalular... I'm work on it :wip:

Just try to model the base and try to put the camera and what I draw on the right place. You can se here a small render with the sketch over the simple 3D model. And try to put all on the right scale and proportions...

Lights in this moment are just like this... probably I will work mostly in a night scene to have more constrast between the explosion and environment... to early to say...

Hey man, love the concept.

Not sure if i'm sold on the camera view personally. Whilst I like seeing where the car is going to fall I also feel that the action itself is a bit too small in the scene. Personally i'd be tempted to go portrait with it, That way you can have a closer car and see more of the city in front...

Good stuff so far, keep it up.

Gees Julien, what did you have for breakfast, its hard to keep up with ya. As far as the camera angle goes i like it, i think that it is good that you have a lot of buildings around the center of interest as it ads to the feel of vertigo, if you zoomed in too close i think you may loose that.
Keep up the great work.

i like your concept, but i think your perspective doesn't work.
this hrizontal and vertical lines don't create illusion of movement.
I think you need diagonal lines in your composition
so you need to change the camera (it's only my opinion).

good decision to examine the different views.
i would prefer camera 3. your first view (like cam 4) is also very cool, but consider that it is a very spectacular view on a spectacular happening. that could (i'm not sure) be too much. but you are free to decide later because it doesn't affect the modelling work so badly.

why don't you try a camera from the building that receives the impact...
do you get me?

xample:
somebody watching the car crashing from the window, or maybe somebody hidden behind a table and the car passing through the window of the office

think in matrix scene: when the helicopter crash with the building (almost end)

I'd try the camera at level just slightly higher than the car. Or at least lower than in 7, and bit closer - but maybe a with wide-angle lens.

2 for me jdd.
I tend to lean towards that one too now.... or number 1 for it's very clean graphic potential... So, depending on which direction you want to go with it - #1 for a more "designed" look, or #2 for immediate dynamics...

Tricky! :D

Well camera 2 is interesting, but I have to place the crash a little bit higer in the image als actual position to have a more interesting impact...
Ok I take a break from camera position and I will starting to model, and wips after wips I will fly around with my camera... I'm sure at the end I will find an iteresting position or i fill fix me in a view.

First real steps I will build my environment, model each building, roofs parts, streets, some office etc... :wip:

What about a lens shader like distortion? Sperical lens can give more dynamism to your scene.
Just an idea. Best luck

I like the concept, sketch looks awesome . Your scene reminds me of some kind of action movie. I like the camera angle. But also I agree with JamesMK, side angle will also look cool as it will allow you to show details on you car model and add little more depth to your scene.
The angle right now also looks pretty good to me, It all depends on you.

Keep rocking:thumbsup:

At the end of the day you could spend the full three months getting advice on camera views and never keep everyone happy. It's such a subjective topic that all you can do is go with the one you feel works best - after all you're the only one with the true vision of what the final image will look like.

Having said this I think camera 2 works brilliantly :)

Hey man, first, really cool work you've done so far, you know your thing for sure man!
trying to be constructive here, I'd say the cam angle could be more subjective to bring some more "spectacular" into the action, I like the whole thing, it's really cool, but it could pop more into the viewer's face than it does now, maybe a camera from inside an office ? looking through the window and see the car coming at us, with all the explosion of glass and debris it most certainly involves, maybe even a couple of office guys running away from their desks to avoid the incoming crashing car ? even maybe seeing the expression of the driver of the car ? then who's the driver ? ..maybe a sycho drunk blind dog ?:) ...maybe I'm oging to far their hehe.

just suggestions, my 2 cents, good luck man !

Just checking in my friend. Nice buildings! One thing I did notice is the light/shadows on the ground floor of the building on the right is casting some bizarre light patterns. Hey man, nice buildings so far. I've got to produce something similar for my own scene so i'll be keeping a keen eye on how you're getting on here. Personally I don't think i'll be bothering to make the glass fronted buildings transparent as more often than not they are made with mirrored glass and once you can see inside that equals a whole load more work.

I'll probably just use self illumination to make any windows glow that have lights on inside. Nevertheless, good luck with your chosen technique, i'll be interested to see how it turns out.

Just another point of view of my environment. Firt I will finish all roofs details of all buildings; then in the empty area near the old building I start the modelling of the "theater" building style. It will be lower als other structure and try to generate a different form too.

Small idea :
I would see well, hung to one of these buildings, 2 men in a nacelle, who are washing the glasses.
They would be thus the closest privileged witnesses of this spectacular jump. I imagine already their heads, and their air amazed.

I updated some texture and you can see how I made the roof texture too. A little bit of foto reference and hand painting...
Probably in this render (very standart lights) you dont see so much reflections, but in the final image I will use sky and lights so all reflections made will be more visible.

don't worry... at this time and until all environment will be not finished all will be remain very clean... during the texture (the complete texturizing environment) I will tweak up a lot of things and details. For reflections you have 100% reason, but until I use a low AA set and try to speed up the render I don't deform any reflection and I set all reflection value very low. I speed up all my render during the work in progress. :wip:

I like the stuff U have around here. Very impressive.

By the way, don't mind se7enthcin (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=145100)'s oppinion. I gues 90% of scenes we'll see in this challenge has some cinematographical or else source.

And there is oppinion among cultorologists that all development in the matter of graphical art design has stopped in 1980th's. So it's nearly impossible to "produce" something unic in this field of creativity.

Good luck. Sorry for my english. vbmenu_register("postmenu_2607081", true);

I can wait to see the big explosion.

The architecture is boxes, maybe something more subdivide.
Because your camera angles is too extreme.

Break the geometry to your buildings. The flat roofs don´t like.
Check this areas, are very important to your image.

Put light posts, please, in the street.

Cheers man. Have fun.

At first I was going to say that the reflection in the top-left corner of the central building sort of threw things off balance a bit, but then I saw you haven't made the other buildings yet, so that reflection will likely change as soon as they are added then.
