View Full Version : Face Mapping (unwrap)
Darknon 11-05-2002, 08:18 PM Hi There
Is there at way that I kan uvw map/Unwrap a face on a object, whitout having to use the multi/sub objet material? It's a bit defficult to explain..
Say I have a room and want to map the walls individualy.. I really like the way it's done in lightwave (can I do it like that in max?).. I'm using max5..
if you dont understand the question, let me try again :-)

you can select a set of faces, apply a uvw map modifier to it, and then apply an edit mesh above all, select another set of faces, and apply another uwv map. this way you'll have the same material on all faces of the objects, but with different mapping coordinates.
hope this is what you mean...

Hmm.. I don't want the same texture on every face. But different texture and uvw map on different faces on the same object..

Make sure you have faces selected, then drag & drop the material you want from the materials swatch (the spheres) to the selected faces.
There are many other methods, but the above is easy for a newcomer.

To answer your question about the UV maps you can just select then facets you want and then apply a map this should work for you, if it doesnt let post the next prob here. :)

Reeks!! I didn't know that! That's great and really fast way of mapping different ID's quick. Should have read the manuals a bit more i guess.
