I remember working with a similiar monitor, but it was actually for output in video editing and was not used as the actual monitor. Some monitors do require software or a certain OS to run, but these days we have plug and play.
Try looking arround on the brand's website for help.

Can you uncle not tell you?

Try looking at all other surfaces (top, bottom, back, left, right sides) of the monitor. Electronic equipment tend to have plenty of specifications (safety, electrical, model number etc) engraved/pasted on them.

It probably doesnt support the refresh rate or resolution you are running at. Try restarting in safe mode and change them to very low values like 800x600x16 bit x 60 hz. Then restart normally and slowly increase till you find the monitors limit.
