View Full Version : WIP - Hand & Scalpel

Hey everyone I'm new here, and quite new to illustrating with photoshop. I would like some ciriticism on my first illustration, and don't feel the need to be nice since I'm new. I'm not done the shading and detail on the hand yet, but the finger tips and the scalpel blade are pretty close to done. I also need to work a bit more on the scalpel's handle...it looks funny to me. Also, I have to link to Imageshack and this seems to have messed with the size and pixelated it a bit. I will try and fix this asap and post a better version of it. Thanks everyone!

P.S. I tried making a new thread yesterday but it never showed up, so I apologize if there are eventually two pertaining to this one drawing.

It looks good - although mildy disturbing :)

There's two things i would note on:
- The arch between thumb and index finger is very rounded. I think that if you were holding a sclapel similar to a pencil this arch would be narrower.
- The blod on the index finger needs to be a bit clearer. Currently it kinda becomes part of the skin - if that makes any sense?

But a great stuff :thumbsup:

Well, about the mildly disturbing...I got the idea for the painting from Thomas Eakin's "The Gross Clinic." Thanks for the suggestions, I will be working on it soon as I've got my papers finished :) . Anyone else feel free to comment, I'd like as much feedback as possible.
