I am building a new system, and I saw a Gigabyte bundle with a Dual 6600GT card. The review is here: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1749

Anyways, would I be better off spending the money or saving some cash, and getting a single GeForce 6600GT when using if for 3D.

Seems like the 6800GT is quite a big step up in price, and prefer not to go that route. I would like to hear what some of you "experts" have to say. You were very helpful with my last question. Thanks.

Where do you live? the 6800GT should be cheap now as the 7800GT series has been out a while.

Well seeing that the lowest I saw the Dual 6600GT for was about 250.. spend the extra 50 bucks and grab the 6800GT. It is a better investment for the money..

I paid 299.00 each for a couple of 6800GT's recently, and there was a 50.00 rebate for each making them 250.00

1 6800GT is going to be a better performer than a pair of 6600's.

I don't know where you guys live, but I can't find a Gigabyte GeForce 6800GT for less than almost double it's price. I need a video card and a motherboard.

The "GV-3D1 BUNDLE" which you are looking at costs ca$645 at the site linked.
On the same site an XFX 6800GT PCI Express costs ca$435 and an Asus A8N SLI motherboard another ca$195 giving a price total cost of ca$630 which is both cheaper and gives you the option to upgrade to 2 x 6800GT at a later date.
The single 6800GT should also perform better in most circumstances than the dual 6600GT.

youre going to pay through the nose because you need pci express cards to run an sli videocard setup. it cant be done with the older agp 8x cards :( franky id look into getting a workstation card insntead. for the price of 2 6800 gt cards you could get a pretty good quadro fx card or a fireGL. and theyre probably certified. also, make sure the programs youre running even support sli card links.... i dont think anyone is really supportin this fully as its so new..?

1 6800GT will win out against two 6600GTs in SLI, in almost every case. The XFX 6800GTs are 299 with a $50 rebate. This is probably going to be your best option. You also do not have to worry about the SLI issue with your 3D app of choice, as one 6800GT will not have the conflicts that two 6600GTs in SLI will create.
