View Full Version : Jump with backflip
Hi,
this is one of my first animations. I've only made a walkcycle before, but it wasn't worth to show it ;)
I would be thankful for some comments and advices.

Hi,
This is a very good animation. The only thing is that, the backflip goes to high up in the air I feel, and the flip should be a little faster. I mean, the flip couldnt go that high if he only did a half swing. Also, try having him not land so far away.

well the animation its good, but the timing its to linear, it would look better if you land him with more impact and the anticipation for the jump would have some more tension. good job, keep it up

Cool. This is a good start. In addition to the previous comments
- motion overall is a bit slow and timing is linear.
- his left hand should hold onto the bar as well ie to make that great spin and be up in the air dragging when coming down.
- watch for your follow through after he lands- his ankles should react to the landing.
Hope that helps. Keep it up.
sorry that it took so long, but I was very busy in the past few days and in my spare time the weather was just too good ;)
I've made now a retimed version. The motion is now faster and the timing isn't such linear as it was before. He also lands now with more impact.

thank you for the comments!

For critique.
- Needs more anticipation, you are getting a whole lot of movement and energy out of essentially a hop. If you are going for realism you will have to tone down that flip. Do that or make him run up to the bar instead of a standing jump.
- The landing looks good to me, you show squash and settle, it looks pretty solid.
- I noticed the arm doesn't bend at all during the swing, but if you want to pull off a flip you would need to really flex that arm to achieve more momentum.
- Also I notice that people do not standing jump and push off with only one leg, if you wanted to achieve any distance you would use both legs, if this was a running jump the one leg would suffice.
Your are right... it doesn't look good, if he is standing before he jumps
I'll try to let him run up to the bar.
Thanks for your comment!
