View Full Version : Does bodypaint use much memory?
Just_David 09-03-2005, 08:30 PM Im tyring a demo of Bp and it crawls after a while. I see right now with one mesh loaded its using about 225mb. Cant be normal..Ive only 1 layer painted.

Depends, how big your textures are, how much memory you assign to BP, how much RAM you have.

im using 1024 res for texture.. should i lower it? I ahve 1 gig in this system..

1gb is enough for this size texture although more is better.
Biggest slow down in BP is running in software display mode. make sure to run in OpenGL mode and let your graphics card do the work.
What's your CPU?

Maybe lower the undo buffer size to preserve memory. BP with an empty scene should use less then 100 MB of RAM, the rest depends on your scene, textures and the undo buffer.

ive a 64bit 3500 amd. 256 mb geforce. Ive set the display to OGL ..ill look at the other settings today.
cheers. Btw is there a way to freeze the history like there is in xsi? so that the file size remains small?
and one last question.. where can i get a tutorial on how to paint textures for characters. :)
