i've a little pb with shave and a hair cut
in my attach file, root hair no appear !!
i try many things: change units in meter, new uv, light ......
if someone i've an idea !! :beer:

I've encounter the same problem b4 when it was still in beta version. well.... i assume that u've have modeled the character with sub_divide (CPS tools).
in order to solve this, U've to hide the base Layer (low poly obj) and only reveal the Proxy layer (High poly obj).
somehow, only turn off the shading for the base layer from the layer attribute doesn't really hide the object. so i has become some sorta mask when it rendering.
Hiding the base layer or low poly obj really helps.

Unfortunatly there is a lot of problem with Shave and Haircut, but i think that your problem is now solve, just down the last version.
I profit to ask if someone have also a problem with reference object with shave.
When i create a reference in my scene shave create a new Shaveglobals, so i have 2 shaveglobals and when i change value of the new Shaveglobals like render mode buffer to render mode geometry and resave my scene after he write my reference object file in my scene (and my reference object file is heavy)...
Anyone have this problem ?

I didn't meet your pb yet, i start with shave but i have other little pbs like lost hair and i must restart maya........ :hmm:

this is a problem of occlusion and it's presumed to be corrected in the last version r121

You should join the shaveman beta listserve. That way you can directly report problems to Joe. Also he posts when he updates the software which is about every 3-5 days for bug fixes. He is very receptive to suggestions too. Many features have been added from just a few posts from people.

Just make sure when you do post problems on the listserve that you always have the newest version of the software. About 50% of the problems people report have allready been fixed but people are still using a release that is like a month old.

I'm already on the shave forum since many month now, and i make an intensive beta testing but if Joe was such very receptive to suggestions and 50% of the problems people report have allready been fixed but people are still using a release that is like a month old, i will not despair to post thread here.
And actually in the last version r121 there is yet some features indicated in the doc that doesn't work.

I've a problem here.
just recieved my shave license yesterday. according to the documentation. it's written there that i should place my license file in c:/
but after i've booted up maya and get the plugin loaded. when i creating the shavenode. it pop up with a license eror saying that i don't have the rendernode license.
has anyone got any idea to get it work? well.... at the moment, my only way is to use the timelimited version instead of full version. and no one gives me any feed back regarding this issue in the usergroup.

Is Maya installed on your C:/ drive?
If not try copying it to the root of the drive where Maya is.
Also open it in a text editor and make sure there is something in it as it is always possible that the file is corrupt or was supposed to go to someone else.
Otherwise you may wish to mail Joe directly on this. I have never
had any issues getting through to him.
