Intercepto 11-05-2002, 02:11 PM Here is the link.

Model was created in Maya using NURBS and rendered with MentalRay. It is not the perfect copy of Z3... it has some differences from real model.
Comments are welcome.

Wow
This car is looking spectacular !
Great job on model - texture - material and lighting.
Love your own lil changes on the car wich I recognise since I'm a true car freak !
I think there's one heavy engine in this lil bastard.
Keep going !
Cheers.

That's awesome!!!
very nice modelling!!
And over to the critic :)
Just like HapZungLam said, you can do better with the shader!!!!!
Shoulden't the rim be more softer?!? and you realy have to fix better texture or something for the tyre!!
Kepp on modelling!!

Wow!
I'd adjust the materials, specifically the main body reflection.
Otherwise, you rule!
:applause:
Excellent work!
In a ddition to what has already been said about the shader, you may want to crank up the subdivision level on the wheels/rims and also on the roll bars behind the seats. There is some definite poly edges showing there. It is really the only thing dtracting from this, besides the shader.
There is actually a thread in the Texturing section, I think anyway, about making a car material. Just do a search here for it.

Hi again and thanks for comments.
As you mentioned, yes it need some work on shader, and specially on tesselation of tires but I'm finished with this work so I'll probably watch out for that mistakes for next car project.
BTW the shader on the car has two layers and it fades from one to another as the angle changes. I think that is the way real car paint work, but I'll try to modify this shader in the future to achieve better realism.
As for the wireframe model, here it is. It is 95% NURBS model.

This is a little larger render from the side. Original picture is in 1280. If someone is interested I could put the big version on my site.

nothing majorly important or anything....but as TylerB59 said.... the HDRI you are using has tress in it, and the scene itself has no trees. just somehting i noticed, nothing too big

The top view is awesome, either that or I am a 3d newbie and I don't know the differences between a good and bad image. But it's awesome to my standards

Great Work, now all we need is a machine that transfers our models into real life!!
The only thing that I think would make it look better is if the car reflected what was in the environment.
Thats the only thing giving it away

Intercepto, really nice job on the model. Just a little crit, it may just be the camera angles but, it looks like the nose needs to be a little bit longer, and the rear lights need to come down into the bottom of the bumper a bit. I've tried to illustrate it on the ref pic. Great work tho.

I don't know, I think it looks a little too realistic, you should bump up the specular levels and stretch out all your textures, then you will have something(j/k).
That looks cool.

Wow, Crazy. very reality.
but I just feel the blue tone of the body is dark.
fornt area have no problem, but when you take a look at tail,
where you can see a refection of a tree, it strange.
I don't know. or maybe you can up the specular of the surface.
good job.;)

wow that does look great. If you could posibly adjust the ambientness of teh body to a bit brighter level I think it will give it the extra effect it seems to require.geat work

Amazing.... maybe best cg car ever :)... How long time it take to make this car?
Intercepto
11-14-2002, 01:51 PM
For NemesisFIN.
How long does it take .... about 15 days of work. Modelling consumes lots of time, aspecially the details that i dont see in blueprints. As for rendering setup, it takes about 3-4 days.

There are small pictures on the big one of front and back side of the car, but with small angle from direct view. If you want direct view, please send me your email and I'll render it for U.

Thanks for ctitic... and yes, the car is little bit different from original model. This is because i didn't have top view of the car so It was not possible to produce 100% accurate model.

Excellent model and nice renderings! I have a Z3 myself (dark blue metallic), and it's the most fun/beautiful car I've ever had. :)
My only crit is that the sideview mirrors are wrong. Check out the reference pic and you'll see they have more fluid lines and are more square-ish.
Otherwise great work!

For AmeK.
Yes side view mirrors are wrong. I didn't have to much time to finish this model so I impovised a little bit.

wow dude, that rocks my 4 dimensional world
you must have some severe patients. the model is great but i'm really inot the materials the most. you got some nice frensel action going on with the orange tint. its not too shiny aswell. alot of these car renderings go over the top with stark white reflections to replicate real lighting setups.
