Hey dudes,
I was wondering can ppl vote for them selves? cause thats lame
How many times can one vote for the same person? also lame,
And should there not be any criteria? I mean, sure ones creation could look better than someone elses but the second person followed closer to the guidelines so who should get a higher vote?
Just asking.

Well this was already discussed in the launch thread.

umm didn't you notice that once you vote for a challenger, you can't vote again? :curious:
so who should get a higher vote?
whomever you wish, you're doing the voting no?
I guess it's easy to say something is lame if you don't understand the reasoning behind it
I think its up to you to decide whether or not they met the challenge criteria or not.
I can only vote once for each person, i dont know about you ?
Unless its dealt with via cookies (quite unlikely) i dont see why anyone would have a chance to vote twice.
Perhaps the original challenge guidlines and rules should be available on a sub/windowed page via a link in the short brief section on challenge.php ?
One thing that bothers me slightly, is that challenge php shows both the current/ongoing challenges taking up a good page and then the archived ones that are available for voting.
I think it would perhaps be nice if they were split up into two (or 3?) pages via lildragons smart menu system.

Yup yup, as we expand we'll adjust, and I did mention this to Leo last night, and it's a very feasible idea to adjust now :)

Art _pupil think about it, why does it matter? you vote on what you like, you don't have to vote on EVERY entry, you can leave it be. I see no problem, and most peeps that looked on in those past challenges already had a favorite anyhoo...
As for the categories, we needed to keep it simple to see how the system would handle, it's unfortunate they're all mixed yes, but good artwork is good artwork, regardless the medium.

Perhaps, but with entries still coming in, there are times I regret the choices I made when I see things in the proper context(comparisons:) ). Regardless, how about my 2d entry. I am not sure, but I might be the only one who created a 2d and a 3d challenge for the same topic.
Is there a way that I can get it in? Do I have to register as another person?
The picture I am talking about is:

Could you stick that in there for me:)
U must allowed Apt pupil to put his 2D work !!!
a kicking ass one !!!!!

The only viable solution I can offer at this point is to comp them together, we had no idea how things would handle, and we're actually sitting here in disbelief over the activity, it's insane! So for the past challenges it'll be tough right now to open separate categories since most have voted on entries already. But as you have seen we've taken care of that for the future challenges. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes

You wouldn't have to open a new topic, just slip it into the tank with the rest of the fishes. I understand that everything is together(2d and 3d), but there must be a way to get my little picture in along with but seperate from my 3d entry.
OT, but I went to the linked site 3DFestival and noticed it as part of CGNetworks as is this site.
But I saw no mention of CG Channel.
I remember hearing about CGTalk at CGChannel and atleast getting the impression they're sister sites. Aren't they ?

No. CGTalk is a CGNetworks website. We run the 3D Festival website (not the event), CGTalk and CG Challenge.
We have nothing to do with CG Channel - but there is a misconception because all the staff from CGNetworks are ex-CG Channel and we're responsible for most of the content that went on CGC between Sept 2001 - July 2002 (notice how our names were removed from those articles in his 'archive').
The entire core editorial team (five of us) left CG Channel in July after some "issues" with the owner - that should tell you something.

I never saw this kinda votes before... Everybody can cheat to vote for themselves by creating different accounts... There's no control about that here, except email. And everybody knows it's easy to create an email account.
These challenges must be judges by a real jury, and not by members. Or at least both.
These challenge votes are rigged. Just watch the last members list.... No name, no informations except an easy mailbox.
Try to find something else next time, coz actually it doesn't give a good opinion of those sites and of the good works some did....

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect yours Bogdanov.
However, please note that the purpose of these Challenges are to promote the learning experience. Since the inception of the Challenge, no prizes were given out, yet the Challengers continued to passionately produce artwork for the fun of the challenge.
I hope this sets things in perspective. Due to the anonymous nature of the Internet (anyone can fake an IP address or an email) - there is no sure fire way of unique identification.
Best regards,
Leo

I agree with you.
Anyway, to talk about one of my sentences, please think about a jury. Impartiality is the way of judging, even if there's no prices at the end. ;)

There is a jury, and you can see them here http://www.cgchallenge.com/about_council.php and there will be prizes from this month's challenges and on, though we haven't released such information as of yet
