You are one seriously talented guy! Though I'd definitely consider losing some of the older bits and pieces, some of the chrome flying robots aren't doing you any favours :) Also it looks like you're heading towards specialising in modelling, in which case a few wireframes wouldn't go amiss.

Thanks mattmos ....a friend here suggested to brake it in two reels ...one for modeling and one for post production works....but this must wait until next week...i am moving to new apartment...i don't have not even one machine working..right now...just my small 12'' powerbook..

But thank u ...i will try to do what u are suggesting definitely  .

Really amazing work Dimitris, your skill as a modeler really blows me away. I have a couple of things that might make this a more solid piece.

The first thing that struck me was the music, it is upbeat and fun which is good. It really sounds like the low end is overdriven (almost sounds like my speaker is ripped) which I find distracting.

The second thing that distracted me were the changes in title placement. The sidebar titles were really hard to read (watched it twice cause I concentrated too much on trying to read them). I would suggest sticking with one format/style for the titles (the ones on the 'Flying Machine' and 'Sparrow' were the easiest and least distracting).

The third thing that might help the flow of you reel is the break where you go from the fly-outs of your models into the girl on the steps (around 1:10), and then the break where you go from the girl into you full motion stuff (around 1:18). I think if these transitions were moved around you could get a lot more power out of your reel. I think if you move the section with the girl and the guy on the balcony inside of the fly-out break and then go from the fly-out right into the motion section you will hit a more natural break.

Again, your animations and models are really jaw dropping, I don't think I could make even one of those models if I were to work for 3 years so a serious :applause: from me.

Cheers,
Tobias

**I'm not sure I explained the rearrangement very well, Battle Star isn't on tonight so maybe I'll take a crack at showing you what I mean.

wouldnt it be nice for you to post some images of what to expect on the reel. 30 minutes for the download is a long time to wait and not know what to expect. Alas ..I wont be using bandwidth on this. & Honestly the image you posted doesnt have much appeal!
Thanks

Hi Dimitris,

I have seen some of your models but I am impressed anyway. So much quality in your modelling skills. :)

Gotta love the post production sequences too. Quicktime crashed at the end and I won't read the reel anymore... Will watch it tomorrow.

Awesome Dimitri!:bounce:
Excellent clip tight and flowing.
I like the rhythm, the cuts the music and most of all your modeling.

Some humble suggestions:
Would it be better to start with the production work and end with the personal and challenges modeling?
Also, as mentioned already, a wireframe to shaded to textured view pan as the model rotate.
As for the output file, have you tried to encode a mp4 or wmv that would give substantially smaller sizes?
  :applause:

Damn fine job on your reel Dimi. It's an excellent reflection of your personality as well as a showcase for your skills. I agree that it could be separated into different reels, but for someone who's familiar with your work here on CGTalk for so many years ... it's a beautiful compilation of work as-is.

Congrats on the front page, I hope your servers hold up to the massive downloads.

The dancing elephant steals the show. Love it!

Nice reel, Dimitris :) I thought that there were some areas that weren't as good as others, but they were all amongst the commercial work, and having worked in that sector myself I know how you sometimes have to cater to the tastes of the client, who doesn't always make the best creative decisions :p

Since the first half of the reel seems to be purely for showing off modelling, you should show some wireframes. The Quicktime crashed at the end, so I couldn't finish watching it.

I seem to recall you mentioning recently that you were looking to move abroad for work - I hope this reel helps you to find some new work, and give you the opportunity to move.

Amazing work my friend. It really reflects your personallity (which i had the pleasury of experiencing when we met in greece) and creativity. Well deserved front page plug. I agree with the others about make separate reels for modelling animation and post as well as a texturing overlay on your modells to display everything you made .:thumbsup::scream::bounce:

I've always liked your work very much when you would post it in the forums. You have some really good stuff on your reel! My only two crits are:

1) As was said already --Like to see some wireframes.

2) I wish you also had a larger size movie for us high-speed users. The picture is so small that all your nice detail on the models is really hard to appreciate.

Still, glad you put up your reel for everyone to see. :buttrock:

Tagger, blz, kmest, swag, McFly , eddieellis, PES, LISEK ...thx guys :).

Velk ...thx man...sound at the end maybe corrupted in the dowload...but i will look to it..and also the other stuff u mentioned. Titles are hard to read 'cuase of the compression....will see what i can do for that. Also it has been mentioned from many to split the reel in to two files...Modeling and Post ....i think i will 'cuase it really will also give me space to add more stuff and remove some stuff that are not so good in Post section.

spirogyro ...txh man. I am going to send DVD of reel to Usa, England, Holland, France , Germany , New Zealand and Australia. If the road is heading to Chicago i will surely pm you!

bscott ...thx..yes it would be nice to have some photos and maybe choose a more appealing one for thread but ..i am moving..no machines available to do so and also the image may not be so nice but really is a pic i like very much!

fellah ...thx mate ...many of your advises are in there (in modeling issues )...i am glad u like it!

popol....thx for the plug in www.Vocanson.fr (http://www.vocanson.fr/) friend.

evanfotis....thx mate ...modeling was first 'cuase it was thought as modeling simply ..not personal stuff...i wanted before videos to show modeling...but now as i said i will split it to two videos.

rattlesnake ....hey...how are man?..long time...thank u !

Kirt ... this is an honour Mr. Malkovitz . Thank u man..i really apreciate your kind words..as for the servers of my friends for the mirrors ..i hope so too...i am without any machine at home for at least 4 days more...(just moved)...so i can't correct or change anything...:banghead: .

Leigh ...Heeey my lovely red hair Texturing Goddess ! ...Thx lady ...u are right ...some stuff maybe should be removed and other put there..also i was afraid that it would be wise to put some wireframes. Quick time crashed to many...that is something i have to check as soon as possible. As for the job hunt...thx ..i hope this reel will help...The post office is going to have a lot of work with me from next week. Heyy...i have in the address of CafeFX too in my mail list...wahhaaaa.....this is something that it would be tottaly NUTS....hahahah...thabnk lady...take care!

Hey Agamemnwn, SUN, anim_ziggy, Mr Micro26....how are u friends....?....Agamemnwn ...maybe u are right about the texturing but i don't want to show skills to something i don't think i am very crazy doing..hehehe...Modeling , Rigging (which i didn't show on this reel) and animation is something that i am chasing... thx man for the good word.

digitalputty ...hahahah thx friend..although i was afraid the "..dancing baby effect " in that..it did came out nicely...

flyingP ....Of course it would PIGS in it ..one must always take care his kind..:scream:

zukezuko...thx man...coffee junkie..is an understatement...hhahahahah

Vivec...thx man. I am glad u liked it!

jayreef ... Thx man...Plane clip was a work for TOYOTA Corrola and they had me in the Hagar of an airline company (Olympic Airways) a fuall day...i was taking 5megapixel photos (about a hundred) ...went home...dowloaded BOEING 737 latest designs and started modelin....the model was 3 days modeling and texturing and 3 more days getting ready the shots of the tv spot along with some Cloud effects from Maya Fluids ( the studio i was doing this has Maya Unlimited). That's it....It was fun becuase the Director had a very good sence of houmor during the proccess (it is the same Director with spot with the UFO). Hope this helps.

loocas ... thx mate ...i hope i will manage something.

Ronoa Zorro...thx man.
