Ok I saw this contest online and i tought that you folks can win this puppy EASY.....

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

The Rolling Stones were in Ottawa last Sunday-Wednesday - they shot footage for an upcoming video at Zaphods.

And they even didn't invite me?!!! :shrug: :D

I saw this movie a few days ago, it's a really funny to watch ^^
If I come home from school, I'm surely gonna draw some fanart (Zaphod-related) in this scetch thread :bounce:

Hello there,
first timer here. I'm also new to digital painting so be gentle :love:
I would realy appreciate advices and criticism from you all talented people. Actualy, I'm retty satisfied with the result. I thought it would look like nothing. I guess the reference picture saved me here. Anyways there is still ways to improvement.

BTW, I didn't bother with the election thing. It's just a "fanart" and that's all. I was just experimenting :)

ButchMakora: no need to have seen the film. Just go to the official website (http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/) to have a look at the mood. This film has no apeal to me at all. I don't like comedy. Anyways, this challenge is made to learn. So go for it. Can't wait to see your picture.

thanks everybody for cooperation and advices - after reading the desriptions of Zaphod - i found an interesting details in my own art - which i already seen before. so - i found the original idea of Leonardo - and redesigned his masterpiece - for our topic ;)

Really struggled with this one! Not because I haven't read the books or seen the film, but for exactly the oopsite reason - while reading the books I've never had a very clear image of Zaphod :-S So I went cartoony as I didn't really feel that the movie-character hit it that well. And of course Zaphod would promise free drinks if you vote for him :D

Crits for other uploads:
@Igor - Really good painting - very good similarity - the only thing is the mouth not so clearly defined

@blackpot - Like it - you jsut need the election theme in there + a bit more polish

@Butchmakora - Great finish and nice classical style! Don't have much crits for that one - its a nice interpretation!
