If you listen very carefully while watching that video, you can hear Hank Williams rolling over in his grave.

"When the animators set to work in creating the CG scenes, less than three weeks remained in the production schedule..."

Good God. Talk about pushing a timeline down to the wire.

didn't see the video, but the concept artwork was fantastic. when i just skimmed through at first i thought the top one was a render. incredible skill. liked the stills i saw in the interview from the video, though it looked like they could have composited her in slightly better in a couple of shots, but then it's so difficult ot tell from a freeze frame, and to get that done at all in three weeks is incredible (do those guys ever sleep?).

They shoulda used some robotic cows and chickens on a moon base farm with solar silos or some other "country" proper getup.

I really don't buy the robo-country theme- it's never going to happen hahahaha!

hehe so true irfan....

hi folks i modeled the big robot for "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!"

i just wanted to say that we make the cool eye candy, we don't have any control over the music. thats up to the artist. so if you think the music is bad its not the fault of the cg folks...

you can watch the video with the sound turned off and blast something good like AUTECHRE, hehehe.....

i kind of like the song.. the video is ok, it seems that it would of been a lot better if everything was brighter, or not a dark enviroment, but that production deadline, geez, should give a couple of months at least.

how much does a video like that cost, for the 3d shots at least??

nice work with the CG, but the music video dosn't seem to work very well. Song about love and land...yet there is some gigantic robot chaceing her on a motorbike? I know that is not your fault. Nice CG and composits!

This is top notch work! Nice job! I have a question for you Blur guys. Are the shots of her on the bike done using the CG Shania you guys worked up?

Amazing work that's even more amazing given the tight schedule!

Irfan

Hi Boyd,

the CG Shania I modeled was mostly used for far shots or where it was too hard to track the original. We also mixed the digital body and the original face in one shot :)

Hi guys,

I only worked on 3 bots that walk by the glass cage on some of the wider shots, but I posted some closer views on my website (http://www.jed-online.com/3d/ch_bots_1.html) for those interested ...

Nice job on the model! The video does look pretty good. Maybe Shania will do a follow-up video with you guys based on the "sexy robot" CG work from the early 80's. That would be a great video as well!

If you see Dave Vallone at Blur, tell him Floyd Bishop says hello. He sat behind me at Blue Sky. We had kind of a toy war going on, seeing who could stuff the most obscure toys into their cubicle. Every morning, we would come into work and usually find at least one of our toys on the floor, a victim of the cleaning crew the night before.
