I'm just a beginner in 3D graphics, so forgive me if this can be a stupid question:
Why i can't get highlights with Brazil sky light? i'm messing around with shader parameters, but nothing seems to change. I get nice illumination and sub surface effects, but no highlights at all.

Hi,

there is a simple answer, it has no highlights. If you want highlights you have to use a pointlight, a spotlight ... but that is just the simple answer ... there are a lot of possibilities with BRAZIL.

Hope that helps

Well i supposed that :)
Assuming i'm not gonna use point lights in my scene at the moment, i guess i have to play with reflectivity to fake highlights on materials.

Thank you so much

The skylight is a diffuse only effect. A specular highlight is a fake reflection of a point light. Since the skylight is not a point light, it creating a specular highlight doesn't make much sense. If you want a reflection of your sky in your object, make the object reflective, and use the glossy parameter if you want to blur that reflection. You may wish to read this about the difference between reflections and highlights...

:) Sorry, I just find that phrase funny, since a specular highlight is a fake for a real reflection. So you're going to use a reflection to fake a highlight which is itself a fake of a reflection :)

Yes... sounds surreal :surprised well it's just a matter of terminology, i think you understood anyway.

According to what i've experienced so far, lighting is a critical match into 3d scenes to be realistic, that's why i'm messing around with that so much.
I have no guide, i'm just going ahead trying and testing, and reading articles and discussions.
I'm getting nice results, i will show them soon on this forum.
Thank you all.
