View Full Version : Layer Blending mode
e'lan 09-01-2005, 10:22 AM Hi people,
can anyone explain me what exactly all the layer blending node r doing? i've used them a lot of times, and experimented with all the modes to finalise on one. But there's an explanation for the multiply, dissolve, color burn etc. what is the exact calculation that it's doing with the image? I think this is a basic question, but the basic knowledge of this is very necessary ...kindly help me!!!

Hey mlkdesign, that's a great link!
E'lan, it's good to see that you're interested in seeing how the program works underneath the hood. I've seen too many digital artists today overlook such an important thing and just randomly click buttons but to understand what you're doing, really helps to achieve what you're after.

Photoshop's own Help files explain each and every one...thought I should say that.

Thanks everyone for helping me out.
Yeah i know photoshop help might have all the details, but since i'm doing my main work in maya ( i use maya help a lot ), i spend little time in photoshop, so i dont really read a lot of help on other softwares(this may not be a valid reason). But these forums are a great place to learn with people like you all in it. Thanks once again....nice links!
