I recently made a tire out of a cylinder and wanted to seperate the tire from the rim, so I could texture it more easily, so I figure I'll just cut and paste and it'll be a seperate object. So I select the polygons and then goto Edit > Cut, then try to Paste and it gives me an error, so I'm like eh forget it. I try to Undo (Control + Z) and the ****ing thing gives me another error. And now I'm stuck with a rimless tire and no way I can think of to get the rim back.

PLEASE SOMEBODY TELL ME THERE IS A WAY TO GET THE RIM BACK :(

ok, first off, don't use cut and paste in maya. i don't know why you would have tried that anyway, since cutting and pasting doesn't give you two objects in any program (i think you mean copy and paste). if you want to copy an object, use duplicate. for your specific problem though, you could have just selected the faces that you wanted to seperate, and used polygon extract. also, undo is just z in maya. no control.

the easiest way to get your rim back would be not to save your file after messing up. then just re-open your previous save.
