Hey all

As you can see i can't draw for crap, but i tried to disguise my poor drawing skills with some artistic flair.

Any way, i got my love for cooking from my Italain Mamma and believe i can cook better than most restaurants, better than most kosher restaurants anyway.

I think i'll add some comical things such as a plucked chicken running away or something, just couldn't get to draw them.

Started modeling the character from the shoes up, not sure why perhaps cause i'm worried about the head ;)

Any way here are some renders and screen shots to show my general start.

the mesh isn't too bad, but any crits are welcome.

Here are the final pants, please not that the top of the pants aren't as detailed cause i will have a t-shirt covering it so i did not think i should waste time on that.

Any crits are welcome as i'm learning to model and need lots of help.

Thanx

Hiya all,

ok small update, not sure but i don't think i really like the tshirt, and the colours did not come out properly for some reason. it was supposed to have red collar and sleeve fringes but they came out light grey? i'll have to check that out later.

What do you think of the proportions?

the apron still needs some refinement, and i'm dreading the head, never modeled one before

Thanx

Hey all,

Sorry it's only a small update but i ain't got much time.

I decide to rather have oven gloves as i think it will add nicely to the comedy of the shot i'm planning.

I'm absolutely dreading the head, anyway.

Crits please and do be harsh as i'm learning and want to learn properly.

Just curious as to why start at the feet. Tis very unorthodox. But coming along nicely

KoRn_ART: Thanx I appreciate the kind words.

dark_lotus: Not sure why i started at the feet, maybe it's cause i did the one tut and he started at the feet and have been doing that since.

What would make more sense though, i'd like to learn the proper way, is the head better to start off with?

Hey all,

After trying hard and slugging at it i got the head right. I couldn't draw it properly so i got some views from a friend of mine and worked according to that, i added little extra things to make it look like me.

The pan has gone pear shaped for some reason, i'll have to fish that.

hope you like.

Hey guys

Thanx for all the replies guys.

dur23, love your cartoon self, really nice style.

I'm in the process of rigging myself but not sure what to do with the apron, please guys give me a suggestion.

Do i just add it to the rest of the body and skinn it or apply simcloth or something?

thanx

If it's for a still only, maybe the apron can be FFD'ed into place? I don't know which program you're using, but in MAX-speek you could Mesh Select the free-hanging verticies (ie. the parts of the apron that is to move freely, not restricted by the body), then apply an FFD modifier, and control it with that.

SimCloth I think sounds cool, and not neccessairly a terribly performance-hungry approch either. It might require you tweak/rebuild the apron to have a fairly equal distribution of polys, and not at all touching the pants-geometry in it's start position though.

Anyways, as for crits on the model itself, I think it looks pretty purdy so far, so overall I like it. I sort of.. fear the head though. It doesn't have the appeal the rest of the body has imo. I like the idea of eyes that are melted together like that, but in that specific context I'm reminded of two eggs on a fryingpan.. which, come to think of it, seems strangely appropriate perhaps? :)

Another thing I just noticed, I think the arms might look fairly square-ish?

And that's it. I do mightily dig those pants and the apron, mad nice folds and everything. Nice volume to them too. So yeah, keep it up. I think there's room for improvements, but I also think certain parts looks very very nice. Overall it's a pretty damn spiffy model :)

Hey gaggle, thanx.

I'll give the apron a shot the way Wiro has suggested first see if that works, if not i'll give yours a try straight afterwords.

You are right about the arms, they do need to be fixed, i want to see what they will look like if i make them way thinner too, maybe it would look funnier.

The head i'm going to keep as is, reason being that it's my first head and i probably would not be able to replicate it even if you paid me :) so i'm worried if i mess with it i'm going to screw it up.

Thanx for the comments and i'll try make all the changes to make it look better.
