Im in 2 minds which is more suitable for me. I understand while Bodypaint excels in painting 3d models i read that Zbrush is a formidable texturing program in its own right. So which to get and this means buying video tutorials as well.

Anyone have any experiences with both on texturing?

I haven't used bodypaint extensively, but it has a severe limitation. It is limited to 8bits per channel. If you need higher, go with zbrush the next version will support 32 bits per channel. There is also a plugin for Zbrush that will be released soon, for free, that allows you to jump between zbrush and photoshop for texturing seamlessly. Check out these two videos showing texturing in zbrush: http://www.pixolator.com/zbc/showthread.php?p=224361#post224361

Bodypaint works in 16bit and as of this month, along with C4D 9.5, Bodypaint is available in a 32bit version. This is part of the Production Bundle, which includes Linux and Renderman support. As always, the best thing to do is dive into the demos and see what suits you.

Bodypaint is half powerful UV Editor, and half 3D model / texture painting... ZBrush has a unique ability to handle displacement maps and Bodypaint has a unique ability to show you raytraced results as you paint. There is some overlap, but really they are two very different beasts... both very powerful and feature-rich.

PS... with Bodypaint, you don't even need to open Photoshop, since all the tools you need are built in... including support for PS filters.
